That's...surprisingly cool. Is that dialogue available with Caesar still alive?

Nothing beats walking into Death Quarry Junction and seeing ALL THE DEATH CLAWS

Especially when low level...like in my first game...

Posted Image That was me, too. Still is, to be honest.

When you guys were talking about there being two bosses in Quarry Junction (well, in addition to the gazillion regular Deathclaws), I nearly died. I have never gone in there with the intent to wipe them out, and I had no idea it was actually worse than what I'd imagined. Well, really, I did think I'd try it out once, but burned through way too many stims and ammo to continue.

That might just be their new permanent home, now. Hehe.

And holy crap, this run is literally infested with Deathclaws. Like in places they normally aren't. It's maddening (and that was totally in Cicero's voice).

^Yes. High DT. Look for the shield flashing on your UI next to his health bar during combat. If it's not broken, he's not receiving the full effect if any (depending on your ammo/weapon) of your damage output. Break his shields (DT) and then you are doing full damage. Some ammunition is designed to negate DT.

BTW, was it just a lone Legionnaire? And are you vilified with the Legion? When, and if, you become vilified with the Legion, you can expect a hit squad of four to hit you randomly throughout the game, especially when you are in the eastern parts of the map...and at higher levels they use rapid fire weapons and do not miss.

He was in a Ranger camp that Andy from Novac wanted me to check out.  Yeah, I've noticed having the right ammo makes a difference, but ammo isn't easy to find.  Where's the best place to do some shopping.

And I ran into a young deathclaw ... it was a little south of the ant mound.  I placed 5 or 6 frag mines and it ran over all of them.  They just pissed it off and all of them did like 1 sliver of damage - and I have a high explosive skill

So you haven't been hit by the assassin squads yet, right?

Best places to shop are Gun Runner's, located in the kiosk outside Freeside, Mick at Mick and Ralph's in Freeside...ask to see his "special inventory," Alexander (Gunrunner's salesman) under the overpass at the 188, the ex-NCR female sergeant at the 188, and Contreras at Camp McCarran. For energy weapons, definitely go see the Van Graffs in Freeside.

Cliff Briscoe in Novac and Chet in Goodsprings always have decent inventory.

If you're Explosives focused, make sure you take the Mad Bomber perk. There are things in there that are very, very useful. The Hand loader perk allows you to make some very powerful, DT negating ammunition and some of the GRA added ammo does the same. Take a close look at the ammunition screens when you're shopping at Gun Runner's. You can switch out ammunition on the fly to save your more precious types for boss like engagements.

Try to avoid Deathclaws until you're leveled, perked and equipped.

You know I love New Vegas....but I really am paranoid about bugs.

I literally read about every quest on the wiki to avoid them...kinda ruins the fun sometimes.
I really wish a better job had been done on QA before it came out.

You know what's really funny about that statement, is that for all the crap Bethesda gets for bugs, it appears they're not the only game developer that seems plagued by them. I'm just saying. :)

But you're right. Most of the time, things are fine, but heaven forbid you actually trigger one of these bugs. It makes for a bad, bad day.

I got the Game of the year edition for New Vegas on PS3. My main worry is that completing a dlc, then the game freezes and I didn't save the game. I have completed Lonesome Road and the canyon Dlc(forgot the name). Still need to finish the other DLC. The game is totally worth 20$ brand new.

You're an EW character, right?  There should be energy and MF cells in Chet's inventory in Goodsprings, at Mojave Outpost, and from some of the caravan traders who can most easily be found on the highway around Novac. You should be able to recycle them at workbenches, too. There's a perk that allows you to do efficient recycling. Fiends carry EWs so you can pick up some ammo there. You'll also be able to steal a lot of it from the Brotherhood, if you've found them already. The Silver Rush in Freeside is an EW shop but it's a pain to have all your weapons taken when you go in and out, so I avoid it except for quest reasons.

Frag mines are mostly noise for high DT creatures. If you can craft bottlecap mines or MFC clusters, those will do real damage.  BTW for explosives, you really need to take the perks. I've got Mad Bomber, Demolition Expert x 3 and Splash Damage, and fun times are had by all. But I have a mod that lets me take a perk every level. It definitely gives some flexibility.

I love the Ratslayer rifle.

Just liberated Nelson and boy was the fun!

Snipe BOOM DEAD LEGION!

I sniped 4 guys in the head in 4 shots and was really proud...then mad because I had accidentally turned off fraps.

NOW NO ONE WILL BELIEVE ME!

^ What thing would that be?

@Giggles - I got the Ratslayer in my current run for the first time, and haven't tried it out yet. It's sitting in a trunk inside the Lucky 38, along with all of the other guns I'm hoarding.

And BTW, I believe you.

Ratslayer is by far my favorite rifle in the game. I used that the entire game on my guns character.

Why would anyone play a game like FO3 on a console? There are no ... it pains me to even think of it ... no mods

I play mostly on 360, tbh. But I did play FO3 originally on PS3, and it was just...abysmal. Crashed constantly. It was quite a bit more solid on 360.

I am a peasant. It is known.

Some people don't need mods? Posted Image Granted, I would like more stability with NV, but otherwise, I've made due with Fallout and TES games with no mods. It's entirely possible, I assure you.

Trust me, some of my friends have tried their hardest to convert me, but I am a stubborn lass. I will go back to pc at some point, I'm sure...definitely by the time CyberPunk 2077 is out.

Survivalist's Rifle, for me. Pairs great with the Desert Ranger and Riot Armor from Lonesome Road.

That's one of the great things about F:NV, actually - I actually wanted to use Guns and regular armor late game instead of upgrading to plasma rifles and power armor.

I didn't have a computer that could run FO3 at the time. So I instead busied myself earning all the achievements for it on my 360.

I like the long-range scope, and I prefer the style of scope that's on Ratslayer to the one on the Gobi Campaign Rifle or Christine's Silencer COS Rifle, which would probably be my second choices.

Re FO3: I didn't play it with any mods, either. Now I guess I'd have to buy it on Xbox 360 if I want to play it at all. And I'd have to buy an Xbox 360.  :pinched:

I had the same problem and it was unplayable.

I assume you are on a multi-core processing machine?  You've probably already tried it, but have you tried the .ini tweak to limit the number of processors the game can use? It supposedly works for some and not for others. It didn't work for me until I unchecked read only, then rechecked it after changing and adding the lines...then made the same changes again within the Steam game folder.

It got the game working, and crashing far, far less, for me.

Man I love breaking up the Omertas!

Especially at the end where you get both bosses to kill each other, plus Clanden is dead, and Cachino knows that if he screws up I got his number

Nothing like walking up to wannabe gangsters and punting them in the cannolis.

It really can't be the core. If that were the case (like it was a few weeks past when I had installed it on my dad's PC (which has an i7 compared to my i5) the game would crash all the time, and sometimes refuse to start properly. There I had used that .ini fix and it worked.

When I came back and reinstalled FO3 again my own PC none of that happened and I could play the game fine bar the occasional crash, so I never bothered to alter my .ini file. And now it crashes all the time all of a sudden. Must be something different, or I wouldn't have been able to play the game prior to this.

^Yeah, there are so many things that could be wrong, it just varies from system to system. It's pretty maddening. I can only hope that FO4 is a more stable game than what we've got in the past from Bethesda or Obsidian. If Skyrim is any indicator, FO4 should be much more stable.

I had an issue toward the end of my last playthrough in FO3 where I just kept freezing. Couldn't stop it. Googled until I couldn't google anymore and really have never been able to fix it. I started uninstalling mods and the like, but not really sure if I've fixed it because I haven't played enough to find out. I hate playing and getting into it, all the while in the back of my mind anticipating another lock-up. I'll get back to it eventually.

One of the reasons I never finished a full content run in either FO3 or FNV.

And if I don't find a fix and it keeps up, that may well be the tombstone of the game for me.

I let them duke it out and kill Cachino, too. That rapist scumbag is not getting off so easy. If I could, I'd replace the whole dirty bunch of them with the Khans or Freesiders.

It might be a bug, but when I did part of their questline I no longer had to give up my weapons to go in.

^Wouldn't that be "normal" as you gain rep with the organization? I've unfortunately only ever burned the Van Graffs down through my three full playthroughs, so I don't know what right looks like with them. Just figured it would probably work the same way as it does with the Casinos.

Doesn't appear Cass will get her way on this playthrough, and the Van Graffs will probably make it to end game on this run, so I may get to see after all.
