Speaking of duct tape. It is a fairly rare item...by rare, I mean available to a slightly lesser degree than things like scrap metal. But, there are mods that add rolls to merchant inventories. There is plenty of duct tape in the game, it just gets frustrating when its the one crafting item you seem to always need. It gets compounded when you have three or more favorite recipes that share similar components: for me that's scrap electronics...which is needed for Weapon Repair Kits, Satchel Charges and MFC Clusters. If New Vegas were a real economy, my Courier would be solely responsible for driving the price of scrap electronics through the roof!

But back to duct tape, I remember a mod that actually adds a duct tape store to North Vegas or something. Some poor dude was absolutely frustrated about duct tape availability and set himself on fixing it.

For me, I modded in a junk store in Freeside for all my crafting needs. I still recommend playing the first run mod free though...then create a new experience.

Am i the only one who found Benny's Pleading against Crucifixion humorous and his reply after that method is chosen regardless even more so?

I usually just off him the Arena to get his little 9mm but occasionally i forgo it merely to here that squeal of outrage he does to the Courier. That said given you get that little Challenge completed by killing him with his own gun it does sort of offer perspective on the many ways of killing the head of the chairman.

My own favored method however still remains sticking his butt on a cross though.

man, I might have to get the Terrifying Presence perk too. Could be a lot of fun with Caesar....

^ New Vegas is definitely a game that encourages crafting, hence the benches everywhere. As you keep playing and increasing your skills, you'll find more recipes you can make. Whether they're for the campfire, a bench, Jack's chems, they're a big part of the game. They're not limited to Repair skill either; some depend on Science, Explosives, Survival, etc. If you look at the options while crafting, you can see what is required to make what you want, and level up appropriately. It's not all about combat skills.

For you, it might be a bit overwhelming, since you started your first time with all of the DLC installed. Some of the items you see in your crafting lists contain ingredients only available in DLC locations. Like...if you were going to make your armor gecko-backed, the only location to find green geckos is in Zion. And Sacred Datura Root is there as well. Cloud Residue is at the Sierra Madre. Etc.

Also, for perks, I'd get Vigilant Recycler, if you're still using Energy Weapons. And Junk Rounds. Jury Rigging, too, for your armor and guns - the nice thing about that is you can pick up any armor that is the same weight class as what you are wearing, and improve it. So if you're wearing light armor, you can improve it with nearly any light armor you pick up. Definitely a must-have perk for me. Same type benefit for your weapons, too.

It's a lot to take in, I know. Honestly, there were things I never thought of doing, either, until I got some great advice from our mutual friends. :D

That's a good point. Some of us started off with only the vanilla game and got used to things slowly as they were released. The DLCs added on a ton of weapons, armors, ammunition types, and crafting items. The menus at the campfires, reloading and work benches (and hot plates thanks to Dead Money) grew almost tenfold after all four DLCs. It's certainly a good thing in that everything you can now find has some purpose at this point.

But, yeah, it would be a bit overwhelming if you started off with everything at once and weren't yet familiar with the crafting mechanics.

My scarce item this time is sensor modules, since I'm crafting a lot of satchel charges and bottlecap mines.

^Same. But the game almost knows I need scrap electronics and is actively working to keep it away from me.

Lol, so I've reached a point where I can't make two steps after loading the game until it crashes.

I suppose you already ruled out excessive number of mods/any one mod in particular you recently installed as the root of the problem?

I have exactly three mods installed, FOOK 2, Ultimate Perk Pack 1 and Scorpion Sneak Suit. The only mod of those that actually changes the game in any way is FOOK, the other two just add content, both of which I had used for the whole playthrough without any issues at all. Neither had I issues like this beforehand. The odd crash here and there of course (as is Bethesda trademark), but that was it.

Created merged patch and ran the master update. Have now also locked the used CPU threads to two cores, just to see if it would do anything (and as expected, it didn't).

Will be looking if I can find the CASM mod, which creates a new saving system. And the Purge Cell Buffers mod, to reduce redundant system load (that one may actually solve the problem if I'm lucky).

What I will do today is (try) to get away from that spot without crashing, fast travel to Megaton (have a bunch of stuff I have to sell anyway :P) and see if the crashes continue. It may just be the area around Jury Metro Station that's bugged to hell for some odd reason.

Nope, game really doesn't want me to play it. No matter what I do, now the game crashes instantly upon loading any savegame.

That's it, game gets uninstalled, discs broken and I see if I can find an old microwave oven no one needs, just to make sure. Piece of **** software.

Let's not do anything drastic...

Starting up a new game won't work either, I take?

Other than that, you were running the game on Windows7? This sounds somewhat familiar, in that regard

I uninstalled the game, uninstalled mods, completely purged my save file...then re-installed the game and downloaded the mods I wanted. I started playing clean, and turned on one mod at a time with their own saved file just in case any one of them were an issue....they weren't the problem. Purging the save file was what I think did it for me. I had to start from scratch and leave several hundred hours of playthroughs behind, but it was worth it to me.

The game froze and crashed as bad for me as it does for you apparently. My games ran good for 500 hours with no issues, then all of the sudden the game turned to pooh. I was at the point of throwing my hands up as well, but the game finally runs now. I went through this for well over a month. Hell, keep uninstalling and re-installing until the SOB works and continue to limit the cores. And yeah, I know, it sucks we have to do this.

Do not have any FFD Show whatever on my PC (searched registry so I'm pretty sure of that).

And I will not simply uninstall and install a game and my preferred mods every single time this stupid game gets a hissy fit. I know for a fact the mods do not conflict and I know for a fact that none of those mods cause crashes like the ones I am having, it is FO3 related and every known fix has proven fruitless.

So, game is uninstalled and discs are broken, deal is done (have yet to find an expendable microwave oven).
Will not buy a Bethesda game again until the community of said game is sure the game is in a 100% working condition. I can weather the odd bugs and glitches, I know it's impossible to get them all, but something as fundamentally broken as the game simply getting a heart attack out of nowhere with no possible fix is simply not something I can understand.

And knowing Bethesda's QA history, that sadly means that in all likelyhood, I'm never going to buy from them again.

I thought they were great. Deranged, but great. I let them live. Image IPB

I took the Wild Wasteland perk in this run, so I'm sort of looking forward to meeting Stripe... Or maybe not, from the sound of him. He sounds adorable, in a way only a miniature Deathclaw could be.

I'll have to smarten my Courier up before I go there, though. I focused on AGL instead of INT this time.

But alas, my Courier is still stuck in Zion, believe it or not. I...got distracted, and haven't played since last weekend.

I hit level 50 while playing Dead Money last night....or well 2am or so.

While I detest the radio crap especially the invincible ones it was a fun ending.
I just blew 90% of his health off then beat him to death.

Using my bare hands, and Khan Trick/Scribe Counter/Ranger Takedown.

Sadly I did not take a picture of my courier beating an old man to death...but he had it coming.

If anyone asked me to rate the DLC its definently Old World Blues-Lonesome Road-Honest Hearts-Dead Money.

Upon finishing the DLC I think I finally got the real moral behind them.

Its that holding onto the past denies you having a future, or at least a good one.
Though that could be just because Dead Money beats it into your skull over and over again.

Let go...LET GO.....Its letting go! Have you let go already? LETGOGOGOGOGOGOGOLETGOGO etc.

So Fallout gave me my first ever full out evil laugh.

I saw 4 legion assassins coming towards me.
I had the Missile launcher Annabelle.

1 shot and all 4 of them blow up into tiny pieces....causing me to start laughing.
Then one of their heads rolls past me making me laugh harder.

Then what I assume is an arm and part of a dudes torso land right beside me.
I laughed so hard I almost cried.

Its just such a weird thing to laugh at really...but it was fun.
I guess having 2 ranks in Demolition expert, Bloody Mess, and getting a sneak attack crit is really handy.

Now if only my courier could have said "Oh they are going to have to glue you back toghther...IN HELL!"

I always take it.

+5% DAM boost is nothing to laugh at...but I usually do anyway! Image IPB

But afterward, when it's all quieted down...having to loot tiny pieces of splatter...not so funny.Image IPB

Evil laugh is best laugh.

Like that one time today when I was playing Battlefield 4 (you guys know what happened to my FO3 game after all) on Operation Locker and I was just spamming all my four V40 Minis down the corridor and getting around two kills with each nade, then just holding down the trigger on my M249 when people started to pour through the entrance and getting another four, five kills until everyone was either dead or realized the hallway is a deathtrap ...

Turns out I really creeped out my clanmates that time. Full-on slasher giggle they said, like straight out of a horror movie.

 Giggles_Manically's recipe for humiliation.

Take one over confident cannibal and his cronies
Mix in a large casino with reformed cannibals and a brahamin baron.
Add in a Courier with high skills and some talent.

Spice liberally with lies and sneaking
Then roast until the speech is done and a certain cannibal is overdone.
Followed by a sneak headshot.

This should net you a lot of dead cannibals, cheaper beef prices, membership in an exclusive society, and a ally in a very powerful man. Plus a saved son and justice for those taken by said cannibals.

Why yes I think my courier counts as a Magnificent Bastard now.
