 Giggles_Manically's recipe for humiliation.

Take one over confident cannibal and his cronies
Mix in a large casino with reformed cannibals and a brahamin baron.
Add in a Courier with high skills and some talent.

Spice liberally with lies and sneaking
Then roast until the speech is done and a certain cannibal is overdone.
Followed by a sneak headshot.

This should net you a lot of dead cannibals, cheaper beef prices, membership in an exclusive society, and a ally in a very powerful man. Plus a saved son and justice for those taken by said cannibals.

Why yes I think my courier counts as a Magnificent Bastard now.

B)

I preferred my American style approach:

Walk in in powerarmor and the All American marksman carbine, ask questions and generally being obnoxious, enter forbidden rooms because reasons and proceed to slaughter all now hostile targets with headshots.

End result:
White Hand society dead, farmer son rescued, father thankful, lots of caps.

Real reason why I staged the massacre:
They banned me from the casino after winning too much at Blackjack. No one bans me from the casino and lives, suckers!

You know thinking back they could have made the world a bit more adaptive in game; Namely my point is that if you complete.

"We are Legion" You have effectively crushed the NCR frontline and their forward defenses are completely put into disarray with the only organized resistance effectively being two ranger stations within the nearby area.

You figure the Legion would move to occupy the location, Or the NCR to at least realize how utterly boned they are considering the Legion now has a highway straight into the territory across the Colorado.

Thus completely bypassing their checkpoint at the dam and allowing the Flood gate to thrown and the Legion to begin moving to occupy the territory, i get that they wanted everything to hinge on the battle of hoover dam i just don't get why they just didn't add a sense of adaptability to the world is all.

Static economy is one thing, Static Behavior the entirety of the game is another.

I think they wanted the battle of Hoover Dam to be the finale of it all.

A period...end of story sort of thing...most likely to leave enough of an open end to the conflict for the sake of flexibility, so they're able to paint whatever picture they want for the backdrop of a future game. I'm wondering if the NCR vs. Legion conflict will be anything other than a footnote in the future of the Fallout franchise...you know, the winner was actually the loser thing, or both entities just sort of fade away in favor of something else entirely.

Even though New Vegas takes place only two years after the events of the Lone Wanderer in the Capital Wasteland, we really don't hear anything about his or her actions with Project Purity or anything else that seemed so important to us during FO3. Fallout New Vegas was FO3 ending independent.

EDIT: But back to your main point; Yeah, more reactivity would always be a good thing.

Wow....I like around 95% of NCR people you meet like Hsu or Hanlon.

But Cassandra Moore....damn.
I can see why JE Sawyer modded her to have evil karma.

Shame she HAS to live in an NCR run.

Moore can take a hike. Hanlon's the man. Great voice actor too.

Man I hate this.

I am so close to being done, but I am just finishing off the small side stuff and making sure everything is in order.
I wish FONV had a post play for the ending like Skyrim.

Yeah, game over is my least liked feature of FNV. There's dialogue that indicates they weren't originally planning to do that.

Confession: I purchased Fallout 3's Game Of The Year edition on Steam for $30 in the middle of 2011. I put 200-250 hours into my first playthrough. I did not finish the game.

Within a year and a half, I tried playing again, this time after learning a bit about 'mods' and the G.E.C.K. kit and making the game harder (DLC, specifically Mothership Zeta, made the game too easy). I made it to, roughly, level 10 and had just completed Operation: Anchorage. I did not finish the game.

I intended to play the DLC in this order: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Mothership Zeta, Point Lookout, Broken Steel. I still have not played Point Lookout or, obviously, Broken Steel.

Did anyone else have this problem? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the living hell out of the game because the atmosphere was fantastic, but my O.C.D. had me checking every square inch of the map. One of the reasons I made it harder was so that I was forced to take only what I could carry. Sadly, it just felt like my "completionist" attitude toward video games increased the map size tenfold. It's a balance of "I hate using guides" vs. "Damn it, I could have done this to get that?"

I would love to play the game in its entirety, but I could easily spend 500 hours playing through the base game and all 5 DLC. I just can't justify that... :(

^ You just described my relationship with just about every game out there.

So...why can't you justify spending that much time with a game? If you weren't playing FO3, you'd probably be playing something else, right? So why not something you enjoy?

I've spent nearly triple that amount of time on Skyrim, and am probably getting close to that tally on FO3 and FONV.

My belief is that if you love it, caress it. Talk sweet to it. Spend time with it. Make it feel special. You know, enjoy it. Image IPB

Okay...fist of the north rawr FTW!

I just used it to wipe out around a dozen legion recruits.
Nothing quite says owned like having a madman tear people apart with the gauntlet he made from the hand of a Deathclaw.

Especially with bloody mess.

The DLC in FO3 was very unstable. I only played through The Pitt, Point Lookout and MZ once each. It's a shame, too, since especially the first two are such great DLCs.

As for completionism, Bethesda games aren't designed to be finished. And they do challenge your sense of self-worth when you look at the "hours played" stat. Just don't do that.  :D

@ Giggles: I like Rawr's fist, too. Extra points for killing deathclaws with it, for the irony.

Fist of the North Rawr? I love that weapon. Those Cazadores? They're already dead. Legionaries? They're already dead.

Anyone else find it funny during "You'll know it when it happens" how stupid the NCR is there?
You are WALKING DISTANCE from your main enemy base.

At least three NCR personal die to Legion activity there.
Plus I mean really...its opposite quest has so many options to do.

My friend did the Archimedes option.
"Greetings my fellow Calif- FWOOOOSSSSSSSH!"

....NCR infamy gained.

I was wondering if anyone else was familiar with Fist of the North Star. I totally heard Kenshiro's 100 crack fist in my mind. Image IPB

Why can't we dual wield machete gladius' (or is it gladii) again? A little too Elders Scrolls-ish?

Can totally see my Courier running across the map with a bladed weapon in each hand.

EDIT: Or something like a bladed gauntlet and a power fist!...I'll stop now.

Ya know there's a mod somewhere that let's you hotkey a sound snippet that makes your character scream "LEEEEROYYYYYY".

Sooo...I had a question:

Have played FO:NV a bit now that I got my rig somewhat settled, and I found some odd bug - if it is one - when my dame gets to very low health/dies (yes, that happens to me as early as leaving Goodsprings to hunt giant radscorps just with Sunny and her dog along, armed with measly varmints. You can imagine the rest):

Somehow, she'd start smoking and upon death electric zaps go off.

Only two mods I could point out to have anything to do with that are Ares Project and Daughters of Ares - didn't use the latter to create the character, she's a standard Hispanic, and even with those mods' associated .esps turned off it persists.

I further saw some odd, empty entry of a perk with a lengthy gibberish name, FO3-something, when checking stats in-game.

Game's perfectly playable otherwise, it's just somewhat odd to see sparks flying when I am getting owned by one thing or another. >_>

I know I won't touch Mothership Zeta again (capped my level way too early and it just felt too tacked on/disjointed compared to the vanilla game and even other DLC) so I could probably bring that number down to ~350-450 hours, but my point is I could play 6-12 other games in those hundreds of hours it would take me to satisfactorily 'complete' FO3 (these two past months = first video game binge thanks to Steam/Amazon). It's not that I don't like FO3, but... Gah, I don't know....

I'm playing my first MMO, Eve Online, but at least I can go back and forth between that and still know what's going on. With FO3 I kind of have to get used to everything again. Hell, I keep pen and paper by my side when playing games like that.

Maybe one day, Bethesda. Well, unless the new Mad Max movie and video game make me forget all about you. Then you're on your own! :D

Weird bug. But then again, there's a ton of bugs in NV. No telling what's causing that. At least your character has the pleasure of actually fighting and dying for your bug to kick in. As my character is out exploring and doing his NV thing, his head just explodes...out of absolutely nowhere.

Yeah, that a bag of laughs. Thank the gods there's a mod to fix it. It works. Very frustrating bug to encounter.

So I walked into the Couriers Mile.
Then I ran out firing my AER14 as fast as I could.

Never saw that many Deathclaws before.
Somewhere Ulysses is watching and laughing.
