First holotape recording by Ulysses from the Lonesome Road officially released!

Is it just me or does Ulysses sound like the exact same actor who played Three-Dog ( Erik Dellums )

It's just you. Similarity is there of course but I can tell them apart easy.

Same as above.

Ah well given his little files and such I'm pretty sure you'll have to kill him.

Didn't hear that.  I think it's funny that Dr. Mobius is voiced by "Herren" from DAO.

Guys, Fallout is about the U.S.'s 50's atmosphere not Canada's or Cuba's or whatever other country. If you guys want a Fallout type game based in a different country, you would have to go to another I.P. like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I don't know why anyone, well other than Bethesda, would destroy established lore by moving everything to another country/location. Bethesda did this horribly because it made absolutely no sense. I just hope that Lonesome Roads is going to be an epic ending to an epic series, if Obsidian doesn't get the license back. I know I'm not going to purchase another abomination like Fallout: 3.

Because some of us what to know what happend to the world at large? And yeah well nice if you don't buy the next one if they spread out. Makes it easier for me to get a copy.

And Obsidian isn't that good, all they do is copy what the previous game had (Fallout 3, KOTOR) and adds a little to it. So yeah I'm not sad at all its back with Bethseda, whom they work with in anycase.

And that is a long holotape. Ah well 14 more days. Least I got space Marine to tide me over now.

Just read the Fallout Bible if you want to know everything that happened to other places. I know I've read it like 5 times; it's a good read especially the part about the founder of the BoS, Maxson (forgot his first name). I would also disagree that Obsidian copies everything. From what I hear, they took something that I disliked very much in KoTOR, the whole Jedi=good Sith=bad, and made something more morally grey.

In Fallout: New Vegas, the only thing they did "copy" was the game's engine, but with their short time frame, they added many new features and better character designs (took out those Oblivion Supermutant Orcs for one). Also, none of the storyline had anything copied from Fallout: 3 because a lot was taken from the canceled Van Buren project which was created WAY before Bethesda took the Fallout license.

If Obsidian doesn't get the license back, I just hope they at least get to make more "spin-offs" (more like true canon) storylines. If not, I'm pretty satisfied with the ending that Fallout: New Vegas gives to the series with either Caesar's Legion, NCR, or neither faction sculpting the Wasteland's future.

"And at the Divide...you and I...we'll have an ending to things..." Oh yeah, we will!

Was that Ranger Combat Armor I saw with a makeshift American flag stitched and painted on the back...and sleeveless? It's at .40 seconds,1:02, and 1:12. That's one badass piece of kit.

BTW, look at 1:03. It's a very brief flash, but it looks like the Courier and Ulysses going at it in melee combat, both wearing the flagged Ranger Combat Armor.

Fantastic trailer. If LR is half as good as OWB, it'll still be 5 stars.

Give me a time hack.  There's a lot going on in that trailer.  Did you happen to notice the ICBMs launching?

^Thanks. Really liked the way it turned out in game. Certain to be an in-game equippable item. Wonder what the stats associated are going to be?

Just don't read the comments on the YouTube trailer. Looks like a bunch of CoD people going "AWESOME MUSHROOM CLOWDS ARE COOL."

Anyways, I kind of liked the Honest Hearts trailer the best. The voice actor for the Burned Man was phenomenal. Although I like the voice acting for Ulysses, I think he kind of gets overshadowed by the awesome cast that New Vegas has given us. Looks like a good DLC so far. Obsidian has really set a high standard to their DLC. I love that scyth looking weapon the female Courier was holding. My favorite weapons are the ones that look makeshift like the Liberator, Knife Spear, and Beartrap Fist.

I wonder who Ulysses vows his alliegance to. I was expecting a rabid follower of the Legion, but it seems like he has had a taste of each faction before following his own lead, kind of like the Courier. That is what I'm expecting now, but I thought his nationalist thinking really moulded well with Legion philosphy.

anyone planning to get Lonesome Road?

I'm excited, although I'm currently on my second playthrough of the game and I haven't even started any of the DLC content yet.

I'm thinking of restarting the game with New Vegas Script Extender and some overhaul mods before I start playing the DLC.

any good crafting, factions or quest mods you would recommend?

So does Lonesome Road take place at the end of New Vegas, chronologically? Or is it just something you do whenever from within the game like the other DLC's?

Pretty sure they said none of the DLC will be post-campaign.  edit:  But the chatter is that this will have implications on the Mojave after you play the DLC.

Spoiler:

People on Bethsoft forums are saying that it looks like nukes falling on McCarran, the Strip etc.  Maybe you get nukes for your final battle?

From the looks of the trailer it seems a battle with Ulysses is unavoidable, no way to talk him down. I haven't heard the holotapes yet so I'm very curious as to what answers he has for the Courier and with it seemingly affecting the Mojave afterwards I want to know if it'll change the Battle of Hoover Dam.

Aside from that it looks to be another good offering from Obsidian.

I highly doubt this. I think it will be like other DLCs or the main game - there will be a confrontation and you'll be able to leave without exchanging blows if you have the right stats/skills/arguments. Combat will be an option, not the only one. Of course, we'll see but I can't imagine Chris Avellone coming up with an arc of this caliber only to force combat on you at the end.

I actually like how they've handled the DLC overall. Very smart and very appealing for long term exposure. Each has a different focus, theme and gameplay aspects that distinguish them from each other, but also the main game, combined with an overarching narrative that's been hinted since the game first came out. Of course, I don't much like the idea of DLC like this to begin with, but really, they've handled it well.

Not ashamed to say that I'm more pumped for Lonesome Road than I am even for Mass Effect 3.

It's strange, but after listening to all these holotapes, I really want to kill Ulysses in the worst kind of way and I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe it's the Barry White impersonation, maybe it's the self-righteous, self-important blathering... or the fact that he's responsible for all the **** the Courier went through because he chickened out.

The implication of a missile launch is clearly in the trailer.  Feels right to me that it is something that could/should happen in the story arc...or be avoided!  You can really feel the crescendo of a final showdown, which was well developed over the main story and 4 DLCs.

They've just done a great job with this entire iteration.  Hope this style of gameplay and story continues over the next sequel for the franchise.  My guess, (since Bethesda/Obsidian don't seem inclined to shoot themselves in the foot, and actually leverage and build upon what's good in their games, not eliminate them), is that it will.
