I think the VS is indoctrinated. Afterall, TIM said he lured the collectors to Horizon with intel on the VS. If the Vs was their main target, why not get to them first? Just doesn't make sense... unless the Collectors planted a trap.

The VS wasn't a target at all. Shepard was the target.

There's a part of me that would want Liara to be the betrayer, but that's solely because fanrage makes me giggle. I know it's not going to happen.

I can see a case for Shiala, although I hope not, I think she's the only asari I like, along with the matriarch bartender. Then there's Rana. Or maybe Kelly? Who knows.

Kelly might not be alive in all playthroughs, or Rana and I doubt such a major plotpoint would be a given without those options, same with Tali... So Liara remains, or Vega.

Vega would be an interesting twist. I doubt it was Liara though. Even unromanced, she's pretty devoted to Shepard. Feron could get jealous though...

Edit: And has already proven he has a chronic backstabbing disorder.

In galactic war time it would be compelling planting a spy on board, as reliable information might otherwise be rather unrealiable in reality? But heeeey, just hoping :P

Tali of course. All this shy girl crap was just an act was to deceive Shepard. Thankfully, mine Shep saw right through her little comedy and killed her in ME2 :)

Still. The collectors had ample time to gather most people on Horizon. At least those near the spaceport. Ash/Kaidan was standing next to Lillith and a bunch of other people. ALL of which had been taken by the Collectors. Then why not Ashley/Kaidan? I see no other explanation than ashley/kaidan having deliberately been left on Horizon. Who knows what the collectors might have done to them in the meantime?

Edit: Now that I think about it. ANYONE spending a long enough time near a Reaper (namely those left on earth during the assault) run the risk of getting indoctrinated. I'm starting to wonder if Andersson might get indoctrinated during the events of ME3. He's an important character, guaranteed to be alive, a good friend of Shepard AND will spend enough time near reapers to get indoctrinated.... I like Andersson though so I hope it doesn't happen:mellow:

It's Shepard's hamster.
It has acces to Shepard's laptop, Shepard's armor, Shepard's food. Perfect possibilites.
It never dies of hunger because it gets food from TIM directly and hamster always hides when sees Shepard. Because of fear and hate to Shepard. Perfect motivation.
All this together lefts no doubts in it's malignancy.

Me. My Shepard betrays everyone and sells out to the Reapers. I mean, who seriously doesn't want to be an immortal killing machine?

What drives me nuts is that the second thing Vigil says to you…

"I do not sense the taint of indoctrination upon any of you, unlike the other that passed recently. Perhaps there is still hope."

Evidently there is a way to “sense the taint”, but we’re not given the option of exploring this bit of information.

Edit: That's the last time I copy something directly from Office 2010. :?

Would be an interesting concept if Vigil's database contained information on developing some kind of countermeasure to detect and break indoctrination. It would certainly allow for a 'change of plan' kind of mission where certain squad/ crewmembers are complaining about headaches and whispers, with Shepard and a few others recognizing it as the first sign of indoctrination. This could start a mission to find a countermeasure first, which may lead back to Ilos...
So many possiblities.

I think Samara is intelligent enough to leave off Shepard and go save a bunch of civilians instead.

Meanwhile, if Jacob was indoctrinated, then Miranda would presumably be as well. I imagine that would get some people annoyed if it wasn't reversable.

I imagine Tali/Legion could abandon Shep depending on how you handle the geth/quarian conflict.

I doubt it would be any of the LI's, partially because with the exception of Jacob and Miranda, I can't find too many reasons why anyone would betray Shepard, particularly to Cerberus.

Possibly a crewmember/ side npc?
