The first Mass Effect game used the PhysX v2.7.2 Engine, then Mass Effect 2 used the v2.8.0 Engine. Which was great because I was able to play both games with my Ageia PhysX Card offloading the simple physics algorithms.

But with Mass Effect 3 due next year, it makes me wonder which PhysX engine they will choose...

Last time I checked, the most recent PhysX engine is the v2.8.3 Engine, which does not support the Ageia PPU altogether as described in the latter half of this video: "PhysX Cards (PPU's): Are they still worth it?"

Will Bioware use the latest and greatest or will they use a previous engine such as the v2.8.1?
