It's Anime and further deviation from the original concept of the game. So no, I'm not excited about it. In fact it's just more proof the franchise has no artistic identity and is just senseless money grabbing.

...Wait, what? How does making an anime destroy the artistic integrity of Dragon Age?

Because it's Japanese. . .and all Japanese stuff is bad!

Seriously, I doubt this anime is going to do any more damage than DA:2 did, artistically.

And I would agree with that statement. DA2 did about as much damage as you can do to the franchise. If you still like it after DA2 (or because of DA2) then nothing is probably going to change your opinion. I have nothing against Japanese animation and I'm not saying that making an anime destroys the artistic integrity of the franchise. I'm saying it already was lacking heavily in that catagory and this is just further proof of it.

Chances are you will never see Geralt of Rivia step out with eyes the size of footballs or a big teardrop emote over his head when he is scared or sad. Why? Because that franchise has an artistic vision they are trying to maintain. I can respect that. Whatever vision DA had got lost the moment they decided to try and appeal to everyone some of the time instead of some people all of the time.

All i'm seeing is a link to funimation, where's the anime stuff coming from?

Funimation is making the anime movie for Dragon Age.

As far as i am aware funimation (badly) localize anime, they are not a production company.

Even if they do produce animation the end results are not anime.

Traditionally that is what they do. This is funimation's first foray into doing their own thing.

So, will it be as badly written as the shows that they localize?

And it's still not anime.

The quality of the writing for the shows they localize is irrelevent to the quality of this particular movie.

How many people do you suppose will see the funimation name and connect that with crappy rewrites or edits and then refuse to have anything to do with it?

I'm more excited for Cassandra's rise to power than I was for Hawke's. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing, though.
