Don't let ME3 be a repeat of ME2's suicide mission, where it is both possible and easy to get everyone out alive. Give us a few unavoidable deaths, even if the player's actions affect which characters end up buying the farm.

Post here if you support squad mate deaths.

It'd be interesting to have to choose between 2 popular characters or to have to go to great lengths to ensure someone DOESN'T die.
Plus replay value would increase!
So I support!

Unless Garrus/Joker dies unavoidably.

As long as we can choose who dies I don't have a problem with this.

I'd love if people died throughout the game, sort of picking them off slowly until all that's left... is Zaeed.

I'm all for the concept, even RANDOM death, just so long as it is written well. If the LI is the one to kick the bucket, there better be a death or mourning scene worthy of his/her status. Still, I'd be shocked if Bioware did this since the rage of each character's fans will overflow this site for months.

EDIT: If and WHEN I let Legion die, I want to be able to sell its body.

As long as Joker dies - violently and painfully I support this.

Overall I'd support killing off squadies, but I'd prefer it be like the SM where it happens based on your choices, loyalty, what role they play in a mission.   I don't want something like Virmire where you chose who to let die.

As long as Liara, Joker, Wrex / Grunt, and Tali can live, the rest can die by rape of a Reaper.

There's only one way to kill Zaeed and I'll gladly tell the Cerberus troopers how to do it.

"Shoot him in the ass!"

I liked the way mass effect 2 did things. I like the characters and I want to have the people my Shepard cares about live. You can have people die in your game if you want, but i want to have the option to do the extra work and save them all. I know it might make things less dramatic in your eyes, but I like happy endings.

I fully understand where you are coming from and you have a valid point, I just want something different.

Holy CRAP- I'd be scared to let Legion die. The whole possibility of having a massive retaliation by the geth on the basis of Commander Shepard not being a 'worthy,' or.. i dunno.. 'logical,' or whatever the heck robots think.. decending on the Normandy like rain of aluminum cans from the beyond.... OI. Scares me. Scares me mightily.

I support this, character deaths should not require failure on the part of the player. More Virmire situations would be great.

I disagree. I don't want virmire type choices, much less unavoidable deaths.

I don't mind having some confontations (like wrex)/characters deaths as long as you can save them somehow.

It should always be an option to kill/let die a character, not an obligation, much less a linear part of an RPG game like Mass Effect.

I wouldn't mind Vermire type of choices but only if it is a choice, so we get to decide who we get to keep.

I bet thar since the "Galaxy is at war", some squadmates will be at conflict.
Tali vs Legion - Quarians vs Geth - War for the Quarian Homeworld
Urnot Wrex/Grunt vs Mordin - Krogans vs Salarian - War because of Genophage

Shepard will need to pick a side to help at the Reaper War. They may not "die" but you could see the leave you for choosing a side. Think Dragon Age Origins (Dwarf conflict, Elves vs Werewolves, Mages vs Templars).

I don't want any forced deaths. I wouldn't mind if deaths occurred because of something I did or didn't do, but I don't want forced deaths just because some people feel the need that people must die.

Btw, I like how people say they support this and then add a "except for so-and-so" at the end. That's just too funny.

Also, if BW includes death, why have the option of picking the person?

It seems to me that if someone truly supports this idea because they think it will have an emotional impact on the player, it makes more sense that the one to die is not able to be chosen. Otherwise, people will just pick someone they aren't attached to, meaning that there's not really an impact for the player.

Vermire had an impact and we had a choice, that choice is what actually made the most impact - on one looses their cool over a 100% unavoidable scripted death, since you can't do anything about it/not really involved with it. On Vermire it was about more than simply a character being "run over by the plot bus" if we have to take loses this time around I'd prefer something like that.
Oh, and for some people who already made sure to loose everyone they did not like in ME2 the choice is not going to be easy - they only have the characters they like after all :D

I hate this metagaming stuff. I would prefer it if I was unable to choose who dies and who lives. It would definitely bring towards making a much wider pallete of emotions.

If we get some choice in the matter, sure. Both the suicide mission and a Virmire-esque scenario could work here; there are some deaths that Shepard can prevent if s/he plans carefully, but at one point someone is going to die no matter what. It doesn't necessarily have to be a 'pick x or y' scenario either--it could be as simple as Shepard sending a squadmate on their own private suicide mission. Go into these vents and hack the controls...but unlike the Collector base, you won't make it out.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see squadmate deaths depending on your big choices in the third game, or even your status with these squadmates. Never gained Grunt's loyalty? The big guy never gained focus, and it could lead to disaster. I doubt it'll happen, but it's interesting to think about.

Just don't have Wrex's survival hinge on scanning that last keeper. I don't know if I could take it.
