I'd love to see my favorite characters like Tali, Legion and Zaeed dying glorious deaths in this game outside of my control.

No character should have unavoidable deaths. It should be like Virmire atleast or it would be very unfair to those character fans and they would riot.

I will not accept anything but these deaths! And they must be unavoidable!

Tali:
Coughing up blood and puke in Normandy sick bay, her dying words are, "Why did you sleep with me Shepard?"
Then Ashley comes in with a shotgun and mercy kills Tali with a shot to the head. She then shoots her again when Tali's body twitches, just to make sure.

Thane:
Dying of Frog Cancer which has caused a tumor the size of a pumpkin to grow out of his eye. Ashley once again mercy kills this time with the collector beam.

Grunt:
Cut in half by a Reaper laser Grunt gets up and runs using his hands at the Reapers one last time.

I'd rather character deaths be due to a choice I made earlier in the game. I want complexity. Something that would be hard to unravel on the next play through if I want to avoid the same outcome.

I want to have the option to get everyone out alive, but I want it to be more difficult than the suicide mission was.

There could be prerequisites from hell to pull it off. Or some choices that you made back in ME1 could come back and bite you in the ass.

Oh... so you didn't free the Rachni Queen, that means one less ally in your fight in the Reapers... *Randomly selects outcome* and oh look, the Rayya just blew up with the Admiralty Board and Tali onboard... whoops.

You sold legion to cerberus? Well guess what that geth fleet over there, it's under Reaper control. Have fun. *Turian flagship destroyed along with the most infuriating councilor*

You didn't save the council? Oh, whoops that means the Asari fleet is smaller and the other races aren't as loyal. *The salarian, krogan, and asari fleets are destroyed in battle along with Urdnot Wrex*

In no way should the devs script deaths of squad mates. We have formed bonds with them and friendships and some of them became love intrests so no killing off. I would prefer ME 2 SM style story line.

I strongly believe in Zaeed surviving every ending possible. Especially the 'everyone dies' ending. Anybody else is fair game.

Don't let ME3 be a repeat of ME2's suicide mission, where it is both possible and easy to get everyone out alive. Give us a few unavoidable deaths, even if the player's actions affect which characters end up buying the farm.

Post here if you support squad mate deaths.

-_- ................. Ha ha ha ha ...... Many here have taken to comparing the Virmire Survivor Incident to the Suicide Mission; here's my take.

I personally believe that the SM is far superior. For me it represents (probably) "The Most Immersive Moment In Gaming that I have ever had in my life!" :wizard: A woman who I cared about.A woman who I fancied.A woman who I was given a first chance to romance, life was in my hands.Tali Zorah vas Normandy... The look on Shepard's face, when he had to decide who would go into the exhaust vents is something that I will 'Never Forget'. I gave Tali this task even though I knew that it was a good chance that I was sending her to her death.Because of this -- I was Bound & Determined to do all within my power to make sure that she would not die.Even if Commander Shepard's life had to be sacrificed.I was going to save her! And I Thank God, that BioWare decided to give the player the choice, the possibilty of saving your teammates. :innocent:

The first part of the Suicide mission is 'Time Sensitive' If you do not get the molases out of your ass and break through the Collector line.Someone will die!

Tali was freaking out while she was in the vents. All this made me fight harder -- made me move faster in order to save her.The Virmire Survivor Incident, on the other hand: was nothing like this. <_< That was like the scene in Sam Rami's Spider-Man when the webslinger had to decide to either save Mary Jane or the kids on the school fieldtrip.Except in Spidey's case he found a way to save both.BioWare acted like it was impossible to save Kaidan & Ashley, when it wasn't, or might not have been.

Han Shot First I believe the exact opposite of what you say in your OP....As far as I'm concerned the entirety of Mass Effect 3 should play-out like "The Suicide Mission" (Except more difficult) No on is safe.Anything can happen and nothing is 'scripted'...

But speaking of "Scripted Deaths" I think BW did an excellent job of this with 'the Death of Nihilus'. :alien: Why? Because that NPC's own decision brought about his murder at the hands of Saren Arterius.Nihilus chose to go ahead by himself without any back-up.So Saren had little difficulty in getting the drop on him.But the difference with his death in Mass Effect 1 and one of your squadmates dying in Mass Effect 3.Is that we just met Nihilus. We didn't know him well enough to mourn his passing a great deal. However what I do grieve over is the lost opportunity to get to know him better. That is what made his death signifigant.

What would make the death of a squadmate in ME 3 meaningful is if we have some part to play in it.Or if its a "Fog of War' type scenario.Friendly Fire is even a possibilty.But...

"UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD IT BE PRE-DETERMINED WHO IS GOING TO DIE"

So long as they're not forced. I won't balk at a Virmire situation or ones where our decisions can get someone killed. I will be fairly pissed if squad members (and Joker) are forced to die for plot purposes, completely out of our hands.

I don't support unavoidable deaths, I would much rather the ME2 situation where people die because of the choices I make. That adds real replay value, Like if Garrus is fated to die in ME3 because of the choices I made in ME1 and 2. Not just pick between your ME1 LI and your ME2 LI. That situation is only good once.

I don't mind unavoidable deaths as long as they are written well. But I prefer "unavoidable" deaths that happen because I made a choice that caused the death. At the very least make the death cause the player to go "aww crap!!"

Maybe they'll just have multiple missions like the suicide mission... that and add some more random factors.

Like the demo mission they did on E3...

"So, we need someone to get us transport out of the base..." Shepard looks between Legion and Tali. "And someone to coordinate fire support from orbit."

"We geth could assist in either manner." Legion states flatly.

"The migrant fleet would be happy to assist in the removal of this reaper base from our world." Tali says.

"Legion, you'll procure transport. Tali will coordinate fire support. Garrus and Liara will be with me on the assault team."

"Keelah, I hope they upgraded the Rayya's main armament." Tali says.

*Result*

"The reaper is still in the fight!" Shepard yells as it climbs back upright. A red laser flashes through the air cutting into the geth transport. A console explodes ripping into Liara's armor killing her.

"Liara!" Garrus growls.

"Come on Tali we need another fire mission!" Shepard yells.

I hope some squadmates absolutely have to die. For example, you need to leave someone behind to hold off the enemies and Shepard has to choose.

I do not support this. I don't mind making it hard to keep your squadmates alive--harder than in ME2, but I want the option there. I guess Sashimi_taco said it best.

I don´t like killing for the sake of it, like say "let´s killing the LI of the player to increase the drama". I would prefer something similar to the suicide mission, but a lot more difficult. You should not be able to save everyone (ie: some tasks will always kill the squadmate no matter how good he is, but if he is good he may cause others not to die too) but the player should have some kind of control over it, not just a suddent death because a stray bullet hit Garrus badly.

I want zero squad casualties only under difficult, almost indecipherable conditions. Contrast to the cakewalk that was the suicide mission.

actually, that sounds rather good.

Totally agree!  :alien:  Putting Tali in the vents DID make me work harder to save her.  And getting through the Omega4 relay to save his crew members.  In one playthrough, I did hesitate and got them killed.  Another was ready to go in and saved them.

Killing your own squadmates via disagreements... Reminds me of Ashley and Wrex...  Now, I wonder about if it will be Ashley against Miranda type deal.  YIKES.  I have a bad feeling about this.  Makes me nervous how they will do this.  :o
