But they do make enough sense lorewise, but I shouldn't get into that in this threadiOnlySignIn wrote...
Gameplay-wise it's absolutely necessary. Lore-wise it's a stupid plot hole, but ME fans tend to tolerate that. See Suicide Mission Shuttle in ME2.wizardryforever wrote...
Thermal Clips - I'll be flamed for this one I'm sure, but I just don't see anything wrong with thermal clips. Not with the lore (it has an explanation, though clunky), not with the gameplay, and not with the fun. The clip system makes you think tactically, and keeps you from spraying bullets all over the place with no consequence. It also encourages you to try out other weapons instead of using the same one all the time, because you will run out of ammo in one weapon easily if it is all you use.
And I guess I can add barren planets with nice vistas, ammo powers, leaving heavy weapons to companions and modular armor that's unique to Shep and companions.

Mission Complete Screen - I also prefer these to ME1's bland mission presentation.
Loading Screen - I'll take these over those monotonous elevator rides anyday.
Hammerhead - A vast improvement over the MAKO, which handled like a drunken sloth. My only wish is they armor it up a bit for the sequel.
No Inventory - I disliked ME1's inventory system greatly, and embraced ME2's streamlined approach with open arms. That said, I'm not averse to having an inventory in ME3, so long as it isn't a pain to use.

Thermal Clips - I don't get the hate for these things. Does anyone remember how much of a pain it was waiting for your gun to cool down in ME1? Now all you need do is eject the clip and you're ready to fire once more. It makes for quicker and thus more satisfying combat.
Ah yes, these figurative "Thermal Clips", Hmm.. i mean ammo.
the first was an RPG, if you pay attention to stats, and "crates", you will eventually, and pretty quickly start finding weapons that take almost 2 minutes to overheat. The thermal clips were just another way they dumbed it down for the masses, so the COD fans wouldnt have to worry about all those silly stats, RPG mechanics, and working to become a more powerfull protagonist.
Mission Complete Screen - I also prefer these to ME1's bland mission presentation.
ME1 and ME2 had the same mission complete thingy...a debriefing in the com room, if you mean the overall design of the maps and levels, Mass Effect 1 had better Presentation, due to the fact that it didnt just always put you in a linear hallways for every single mission like ME2 did. If you mean the Mass Relay end mission load screen, then yes, ME2 was much more pretty than ME1 in that sense.:-)
- I'll take these over those monotonous elevator rides anyday.Loading Screen
Believe it or not, most of the loading screens in ME2, took just as long, or longer to load, than it took to ride an elevator in ME1, and how Bioware fooled some people into not seeing this is beyond me.
- A vast improvement over the MAKO, which handled like a drunken sloth. My only wish is they armor it up a bit for the sequel.Hammerhead
Fair, any kind of vehicle would do.
No Inventory - I disliked ME1's inventory system greatly, and embraced ME2's streamlined (Dumbed Down) approach with open arms. That said, I'm not averse to having an inventory in ME3, so long as it isn't a pain to use.
Agree, ME1's Inventory could get pretty chaotic if not regularly checked and kept sorted, but that is what RPG's are all about. You have to use your brain when playing them. Never the less, i welcome a smoother inventory system if it means we can at least have one again.

The turian councilor.
I only like him because you have to have at least one ass on the council that just pisses you off. Who knows, maybe Shep (or whoever your PC is), gets to make a choice whether he lives or dies when that councilor accepts the reality of the situation. Better yet, maybe it turns out he is incahoots with the Reapers in the plot.

I know of the hate directed at people who talk about the "COD crowd" but its true, i am not acting angry about it, EA just wanted to widen the games appeal, and to do so, ME2 was missing alot of things, so chill man.

Just letting you and anyone else know that it sounds ridiculously elitist. There are better ways to express what you're trying to say, that's all.

Truth is stranger than fiction after all, I'd recommend this article: The Making of Mass Effect 2: How BioWare built a better space opera
Here's a snip from the article:
“One of the most controversial changes to the combat was probably how ammo works,” Hudson goes on. “It was something that wasn’t part of the main game design but instead was implemented as a test by a gameplay programmer. The Lead Designer was against the idea, but tested the ‘ammo’ version of the game for several weeks in total secrecy before concluding that it made a huge improvement to the tension and pacing of combat. Then when he pitched it to me, I was against it until I played it for a while and was convinced as well. Some of the best ideas in ME2 happened that way, where a passionate member of the team took their own time to try something they thought would be great, and it eventually passed harsh scrutiny to become part of the experience.”
Norman has a number of obvious reasons for the change to the ammunition – speed, pacing, making it more like other shooters – but there are reasons which aren’t so obvious. In Mass Effect 1, bullets were ‘free’ which led to players running down corridors holding the trigger down in the hopes of scoring a single lucky hit – sure, they wouldn’t score many hits but they had nothing to lose by it either – which led to some pretty silly combat scenarios.

Despite my intense hatred of CoD, CoD: Black Ops has far more customization and depth than either ME game.
Just sayin'.

Jacob.
Also can't wait to see Ashley and Kaidan again. I hope ME3 doesn't let us down with those two. Really worried that they might end up with a lot of shared dialogue.
