Source.

As of this posting, roughly eighty people have died as a result of bombings and shootings in Oslo, Norway.

I have no words to properly convey exactly how much I feel for any and all individuals who have been affected by this tragedy.

A tragedy indeed. The man behind the shootings is at least in custidy now. Even though norwegian prisons are 3-star hotels, he would not be hailed a hero for killing 80+ youths (mostly 14-16 years old).

@Hellbound555, it's not war, it's one person from the richest part of Oslo that had earned the trust of a pistol club and had access to something though his firm to make the bomb.

Just imagine that, people are frightened, and a police officer arrives at the island. They felt secuirity when a policeman were close to them. Also, he managed to assemble many of them, and then he starts shooting. 80 people of 600 might have been killed, yes, but the rest are most probably scarred for life. Anders should be locked up for life.

I'm norwegian, so I followed th news closely.

The most shocking thing wasthat the man responsible, was a fellow norwegian, named Anders Behring Breivik. Had ties to right-extremist groups annd had also made threatening messages in different places on the internet. Also, his facebook page said one of his favorite tv-shows was Dexter.

The weird thing is, I cannot fully grasp this, this is so unreal, also that it is an action made by someone from this country...I don't get this.

91 killed, just because he thought our immigration policy was wrong...

Gotta love the first line "A lone political extremist bombed the government center here on Friday". Why do they have to label this person a political extremist? This person whoever he is obviously isn't of sound mind and the fact he was extreme in his political views most definitely did not have anything to do with him killing all these people.

With the above said it is a terrible tragedy and I feel very sorry for the victims and families.

Guys lets not get this overly political, and two people are being held in custody. One is our Standard Militant sort, another is an Imman who's made thearts to kill various political leaders. However that doesn't mean either is guilty till police invistigations can get answers. Funny enough if they both are connected it means Militant Christians and Militant Musliums working hand in hand. Tsk Tsk Tsk, Son I'm disappoint.

Also the labeling him as a political extremist and pinning both attacks, seems to be more of a Media statement than an offical one. It may be days till we have a solid answer. And while he may want the credit for the attacks, doesn't mean he did them even then. Someone can go out and kill 500 people and I can say it was me to get TV time and a Message out, but still means I'm a liar.

In closing Remarks, I'm not laying names for this at the sake pf a political judgement. And even then a name should be delt with only when Justice is to be served. So at the momment I'm prepaired to let the Invistigation show who is at fault. Not jump to an answer that best suits some made up view of the world.  Hell for all we know it might have been the Russian Circus. Though higly unlkiely, its more in line with finding facts than the Media on both the left and right targeting one of the two men above for its own gain. And others joining in for the witch hunt of one or the other.

He has the name of a certain video game terrorist we all know, though. Very creepy coincidence...

As much as we like to think of terrorist as extreme forigners who hate us, just as often they are the monsters at home.  The US had experiances with this, with the Unibomber and the Oklahoma City bombing.

My and my family's thoughts and prayers are with Norway right now.

What a horrible blow to so many families to lose their child, or sibling in such a sickening way. :(

My sympathies for anyone affected.

I'll say the same thing as the last time something like this happened: how much more is it going to take before people start to question the ease with which private ownership of firearms can be achieved?

This really isn't the place for political discussions. All we can do is offer condolences and support for all those affected by this completely senseless act of hate and stupidity.

Alt for Norge.

It seems they haven't gotten a motive out of him yet, or if he was alone or not. Not everyone can build a bomb in their basement, and get their hands on the materials for such.

My humble suggestion would be to use such an instance as a learning experience for those in the business of countering it. I am in no way downplaying the loss of life, but one must find the strength to look forward in tragedy if any good is to come of it at all-that good being mitigation of future events of the like.

Don't turn that nut into a martyr. Give him no "glory."
