I managed to save all 20 crates with my infiltrator last week.  I hadn't really tried it before with any classes, but I'd seen some of the youtube videos and figured I'd give it a try.  I ended up getting to watch three mech explosions in quick succession from the grassy knoll.  Quite a sight!  I'm pretty sure it was on insanity (or at least hardcore).  Sorry I don't have a video of it, but it shouldn't be too hard to reproduce.  The trick was having the Cain to strip most of the YMIRs' protections and at least one squadie with AI Hacking.

I launched the CAIN just as I came around the corner and brought all the mechs down to Health plus a tiny bit of armor.  Then I knocked two of them down to about 1/2 Health with the widow and use my and Legion's AI Hack to keep them static while I took out the third mech with a body shot and head shot.  It was then pretty easy to head shot the other two and enjoy the light show!

I never used the Cain against them because I thought I would destroy a lot of crates with it... well good to know it's not the case if you shoot that early. And using Stasis in combination with the Widow seems to be more effective than using it in combination with the claymore ^^

My best is 12.crates but that was using a sniper rifle, heavy warp and heavy overload and Thane and Garrus sniping away too. Okay I lost 8 crates but I didn't get killed so that's a score IMO )
