I reckon Harbinger will either be killed sometime mid-game, in a bout of fisticuffs, or will be the last Reaper left alive.

I wish it would be the illusive man sitting in his chair behind forcefield taunting Shepard as he uses some automated defenses to attack him. XD
Oh and when he dies, he freezes up in surpised expression and starts exploding and sinking trough the ground!!! ...just like in old SNES games.

I'd always imagined TIM sitting in his chair with his arm on the arm rest, hand hovering over his ash tray with a cigarette end slowly burning itself out, the other arm hanging over the arm rest with a glass lying on the floor, and his liquor spilling out of it, and his head drooping slightly. Oh, did I forget to mention the hole in his head from Shepard's pistol.

ME3 doesn't need to have a boss. Consider Halo 1. That game didn't have any boss fight, but the end level was very tense nevertheless. I hope something like that forr ME3 end as well. Boss fights during the game seem fine eg. TIM and Kai Leng, but end level shouldn't be like any old fashioned large health, dumb and gigantic boss fight.

While the remnants of the galaxy wage a final battle against the Reapers with their ships and technology, Shepard will go to the source of the Reapers' power supply and fight a Prothean Reaper. It was said that they tried making a Prothean Reaper but failed. It was deemed a failure because it was only the size of a normal human. It watches over and protects this off switch for the Reapers. Shepard will fight this smaller Reaper by himself. The Reaper will activate a safeguard to stop Shepard from simply turning the source off. This will create a sort of electro-magnentic pulse which stops all weapons from working. Shepard will have to use melee combat to win. After winning the battle, Shepard must sacrafice himself by uniting himself with the Reaper energy source, killing all of the Reapers. THE END

I have two ideas for three possible endings:
For the bad ending where the galaxy + Shepard are defeated by the Reapers, there could be a horde mode where there is no chance of winning. Maybe after 10 minutes of fighting there could be something like a Reaper crushing the squad as seen in the first teaser trailer.
For a not so bad ending, Shepard could fight off indoctrination similar to the ending of F.E.A.R. 2 while trying to get to/activate something or escape.
And for the best ending, Shepard could direct attacks from all the allies s/he acquired throughout the series. For example, send the Alliance and Turian armadas to attack the Reapers head on in space. The STG will sabotage any Reapers/Reaper forces on the ground with the Krogan as the shock troopers.
No matter what they do Bioware should definitely avoid the cliche final boss fight, and even mix up what you have to do depending on your ending. Just my two cents.

My goodness... if the ME series ends with a boss fight between Shepard and TIM, I'll hurl my mouse against the wall.

There shouldn't be a regular boss fight. It should be a space fight in which you command the fleets into battle.
