I am not happy about the sentinel heavy melee.

I really want to know what Vanguard uses as melee attack now.

I definitely hope for a reveal too, since Vanguard is my favourite class, but I doubt it will happen... :(
Vanguard is possibly the most technically demanding class, due to the specifics of Biotic Charge: there's an insane risk for clipping, getting flung off ledges, getting stuck IN ledges, collision checks working wrong and all round bug hunting...

If we are going to see Vanguard melee, we'll expect it to be revealed during a Vanguard playthrough...
Showing a Vanguard playthrough without showing Biotic Charge is just... well... wrong...

So I fear if we ever see a Vanguard demo, we'll see it pretty late in polishing stage...
I really really really hope I'm wrong with this, but that's what I think... :(

What mostly bothers me about this close-up atacks is that in 80% of all this moves i saw in gameplays, Shepard usualy hits a thin air and the enemy dies.

I saw this, too. It bothered me, but there is a lot of dev time left to iron that out. After getting over my excitement over the new Sentinel footage, I do believe a change is in order. I totally agree that the Sentinel should get a bio/tech one-two heavy melee. Upside down blade to the stomach region, followed by a closed-fist biotic punch to the face.

Yeah, let's NOT want the system in the game that they're constantly promoting to be good. Where's the harm in that?

well for one im pretty sure they are still working on it so why complain so early in the development? i would understand if we were complaining around december maybe january.

Because it IS in development and they CAN change it. Complaining in January is useless.

Sentinels really are sticking it to every other class in ME3 aren't they? I mean, they get biotics, tech powers, the ability to use assault rifles and I assume sniper rifles and shotguns too, and now where the soldier uses one omni-blade, the sentinel shoves two of them in someone's chest.

And that will most likely be around January. Even if it's not gold by then, I don't think they have the time or the manpower to radically change something like that.

The earlier we complain, the more likely it is to change. If we complained about it in january, it may already be set in stone as they'd have worked on it for longer and maybe even made other systems/animations dependent on it. Nip it in the bud, as they say.

The animation is weird as well. Who stabs with their head down?

Really? I would prefer a cryo blade.

I too find the animation a tad goofy in its present form, and join most everyone else in wishing the biotic side of the Sentinel came through a bit more. For Sentinel, I'd love to see something like a one-two punch for the heavy melee. A quick left charged with an Overload to stun them, followed up by a biotic-charged right cross.

I feel they've just said "how can we change it from the soldier heavy melee?" and gone with the first thing that come's to their head. very disappointing.
haven't Bioware designers ever heard of design ideas and idea development!

BTW Shepard, great fighting technique, hands completely extended, Head presented as if on a silver platter.<_<

I have to agree the animation is pretty awful. I don't really have a problem with the Omniblade itself, even though it's silly, but that double-overhand attack is awkward and lacks any feeling of power. Nobody would use that in actual combat, it's so unbalanced that you would take far too long to recover.

The effect that attack would have IRL isn't what bothers me. What bugs me is BioWare seems to have forgotten an important and basic fact about Sentinels: They are both biotic and tech. The attack needs to be both.

There's plenty of time to fix and add animations.

I think they should make it so Shepard is still using both hands, but not at the same time. Like, first right arm, then left directly after.

It looks silly when it looks like he's imitating a move from a fighting game.

I don't even get why the purely combat class should share its heavy melee so blatantly with the tech/biotic hybrid. Yawn.

The way i see it:
Adepts should keep the biotic punch
Engineers should get the single Omniblade
Soldiers should do a ram with a bayonet
Vanguards should do this
Infiltrators should do kasum's shadow strike(but only with melee distance)
and Sentinels should do a biotic punch followed by a omniblade. ( but maybe with some unique looks so it isnt just the same animations for the adept and engineer back to back.)

Can someone enlighten me on how a holographic blade is supposed to cause damage to a physical being?

And that "solid state" crap can go right out the window. It would just then be Plasma, as holograms are digital 3D representation.

Dunno 'bout da hologram part, but a blade edge as thin as a line of atoms is gonna cut through almost anything.

Holograms, by nature, are immaterial 3D images. They have no solid physical properties.

The codex in game exclaims that basically every piece of tech in the future uses "solid state" holographic interfaces. Which isn't holographic at that point. It would just be plasma (the fourth state of matter).

It's been explained countless times on these boards.  Go look it up.

I think it makes sense cause they are all about tac-holograms with their armor. Then again I role Vanguard so I wouldn't understand.
