Keep the dual Omni Blades and just wrap them both in a biotic fields that explodes off (like tech armor) after the strike. The explosion won't do extra damage, but it's more of a "I need to get rid of this biotic fields around my arms as these would make it difficult to use my weapons".
This makes more sense because using dual blades shows how much of a tank this class. Tech blades show tech prowess while encasing them in biotics demonstrates a skill in biotics.
I am not happy about the sentinel heavy melee.

The way I always saw it, the sentinel class was simply a class that had access to tech and biotic abilities, but tended to favor one over the other. (Both Miranda and Kaidan were Sentinels that focused more on their biotics, Shepard very clearly focuses on the tech side of things).
Really, having his melee attacks follow this is fine. The class does not mean you have to be perfectly balanced between the two abilities, just that you can use them. Sentinel Shepard is far more proficient or effective on the tech side, so he'll go with his strengths.
I get that Miranda has just Overload vs Warp AND Slam, but spec'd right for Insanity you're probably only ever going to use Warp and Overload so she's pretty perfectly balanced between the two when it comes to actual, practical gameplay. And Kaidan I killed off on Virmire and it couldn't come soon enough, so don't care there.
But that's besides the point. The real point I'd like to make is that there are three hybrid classes in Mass Effect 2 and two of them feel like they've obtained the perfect balance between their abilities. Sure it doesn't say anywhere specifically that Sentinels have to be perfectly balanced between Biotics and Tech the way Infiltrators are between Combat and Tech or Vanguards between Combat and Biotics but it should go without say. You pick the Biotic and Tech hybrid class expecting gameplay balanced around the two abilities - nobody picks it wanting Engineer-Lite with Warp tacked on.
Though with that said, they were hybrids with the Soldier class. The Soldier class had 3 defining features: Adrenaline Rush, access to all weapons (except the SMGs), and increased running speed. Really, making them a a good balance between adept/engineer is just tailoring their unique power and bonuses. Hence Infiltrator has tactical cloak and time dilarion, which makes sense and benefits their extra weapon. And Biotic Charge plays off of the shotgun.
Sentinel is a power class. So "balancing" it would be difficult. If they had some biotic/tech armor it would have to benefit from all upgrades, or not and seem out of place. It would also be weird when applied to enemies and their defenses.
As for you point on Miranda, it still stands that she is biotic heavy for having access to more biotic than tech abilities, your speccing not with standing.

After seeing the animation for the sentinel melee I'll admit I dont much care for it, if they had dual ombi-blades, I'd kinda prefer them to gut strike the guy then Rabbit punch him... personally, but that would be too long and too delayed for faster-paced combat; would be cool tho.

Meh, I've never played as a sentinel so I probably won't this time. Still, adding some biotic and tech powers together into one great melee attack does sound cool.

As an avid player of the sentinel class I support a true HYBRID biotic/tech heavy melee.
