Hiya, I recently started playing Dragon Age Origins and it's been running fine for the past day and a half, except for extensive loading time and random freezes but I can cope with that. However, after meeting Alistair for the first time and starting the first Wilds quest, I found that I couldn't talk to him anymore. And I don't meet him not supplying any responses, I mean no matter how many times I right click him, a dialogue box doesn't appear. This didn't apply to any other character for a while, I could speak to everyone else. Morrigan, that big guy, Sten? Even Wynn. But still I couldn't talk to Alistair. Then a while later during the Nightmare part in the Fade, I walked over to Alistair and the game froze, and when it unfroze I tried speaking with him, then it froze again. I thought maybe I had to speak to the others before him, so I went to Sten and it wentsmoothly. But then when I went to Wynn, it froze when I tried speaking to her too. And then I couldn't even speak to her at all.
Oops forgot to paragraph. Anyway, I faced the Sloth demon with just Sten and then suddenly Wynn and Alistair appeared just before we left the Fade blah blah. Okay so then we left the Fade and were back in the magetower place. I tried speaking to Wynn but with no avail even though prior to entering the Fade, I could speak to her without any problems. Oh also, I forgot to mention that I could speak to that ginger priestess girl. I um..forgot her name. So yeah. Oh and I can still speak to Sten! I really wanna develop these relationships further but I can't if I can't even open a dialogue box with them. I'm not running any mods. Um..this is my comp's info..or something. :S

Okay I don't know what much of that means but it's not like I'm computer illiterate it's just I've never really taken the time to bother understanding what that kinda stuff meant. I just use my laptop for entertainment and I don't often encounter errors so I have no idea how to deal with them when they arrive. =[ Help would be very much appreciated and I apologize for this super duper long post T_T But I'm desperate and may ^^ The Maker bless the kind soul who aids me! <3<3

Oops. Also I can control Alistair and give him gifts and equip him with stuff. The same with Wynn, yet I still can't talk to them.

Hmmm after I finished the big giant tower quest thing and saved the Circle of Magi, I'm able to walk to Wynn again. But still no luck with Alistair =[

See the "Read First" thread for where to find all the necessary system information. Laptop graphics cards do not meet the minimum specs for this game for a reason--they aren't up to the task. Yes, some people can and have played on laptops successfully, they tend to overheat and crash. This can actually cause damage to your system.
That said, it sounds as if something in Alistair's dialogue file has become corrupted. A re-install might help. Graphics and sound drivers that don't play well with the game are also know to have odd effects (see the read first thread). You can save the characters you have created during the uninstall process so you won't lose them.
