I'm starting a new character again but i alway seem to have the problem of never being able to choose a class, i'm always torn between a mage and a warrior. Now i know both have there own strenghs and weakness's but i was hoping that some of you might be able to put forward your views and help me pick a class once again.

Depends on what difficulty you play on, what companions you want to bring etc.

I'd pick Warrior, just because I hate Carver and the stupid templars who don't react to your magic.

Mages have been nerfed considerably since DA:O, but depending on who you ask, they needed nerfing. I still prefer playing them to playing any other class, mostly for roleplaying reasons. While it's implausible that no one reacts to Hawke casting spells in plain sight of templars and the city guard, mage!Hawke seems more invested in the story. I speak only of my own opinions. What happens between the mages and the templars is intensely important when Hawke is a mage. Also, I vastly prefer Carver to Bethany.

As for gameplay preferences, I have none. All of the classes have their strengths and weaknesses. Some are more enjoyable than others based on individual playing style, but that isn't exactly something someone else can recommend for you. I will say this. If you like your Hawke to charge in and take out large groups single-handedly, a weapon-and-shield warrior might not be your best choice. You can get some heavy DPS going with them, but they funtion best as tanks, someone to draw aggro while softer, higher DPS companions pick off your opponents. Also, if you like big, flashy explosions 'n' stuff, running a DPS mage is incredibly satisfying.

Warrior got a pretty sizable nerf recently as well, still with the right party you can easily steam roll the opposition. It's much faster than a mage (in my experience), check out arelex's guides for some really master level examples.

I personally play a 2h Reaver/Templar, what it lacks in ccc closing it makes up for in staggers and crowd control (scythe is mean and with high strength nothing seems to stand before your blade even with just auto attacks). One haste and fervor is enough to keep the pace going though the Berserker/Reaver is much faster.

For me, the drawback to mage is that there are too many awesome spells to choose from different trees...sometimes deep in the trees and that they aren't really a lead in character unless you build them to be one. They also happen to perform better tactic'ed out, just my personal opinion...I'm simply not fast enough to react to staggers with a chain lightning before the other mage/varric pops the ccc.

In the end it boils down to what you want to do more, so why not make both?

2h got nerfed bad, SnS is better by a significant margin now. Better than a mage, I don't know. Mages are just way more fun.

I have more fun with mages than warriors, for both games the order is Mage, Rogue then Warrior.
