Let's see we need replacement soldiers, and replacement farmer's and replacement Wait where's your fleet gone. You're action will cause the fleet to dissolve. An attempt of evacuation, taking off essential genetic libraries, even if it ends up costing a quarter of the fleet is still more promising than your methods Fixers0

Losing Earth would be like the US losing the mainland and only consisting of Hawaii and Alaska. Sure the US would still exist but its would no longer be a world power.

That's a wrong analogy, because you are implying that Earth is Mainland of the Alliance, which it isn't it's Arcturus station.

Really? Because I thought that analogy was perfect. And Arcturus station is not the homeland, just the "capital".

Arcturus is to Washington, D.C. as the Systems Alliance is to the Continental United States. The colonies are like Alaska, Hawaii, and the various territories, military bases, etc.

If they got  there my military up to date i don't what's stopping them from retaining their power, especially since you don't have that giant whiny mainland and all those useless civilians that do nothing  but complain.

Just stop. You're wrong and you damn well know it. If you think 2180s Earth is the same as the movie Idiocracy, you're sadly mistaken.

He's trying to convince himself and the rest of us that the most important planet to humanity...isn't.

Those "useless" civilians pay taxes for that army and buy most of resources you're selling.

Also many of them volunteer for army and those already in army have friends and families on Earth.

And since when do taxes from North Korea (or any independant nation) go to the Alliance.

We don't even need to bring that many ships to evacuate people off Earth. Some frigates, escorted by cruisers and a few dreadnoughts. We take as many VIPs as we can. And civilians if there's time.

As for the fleet that was already there, it will take some casualties, sure, but it's better than attacking later when the Reapers have fortified themselves on the planet, and could destroy the entire Alliance fleet with ease.

Fixers0 doesn't get it. Humanity is one of the two species we know of, that we're certain are alive,  that needs it's homeworld to be a power. The other well, we know what they're doing at the moment. Being treated as thieves and crooks almost everywhere the go, with the occasional difference in Alliance Space.

But unlike those ''other ones'' the dead of earth could very well turn out to be very  beneficial for the Alliance. you (alliance Honcho) longer need to deal with the bad image earth gaves you, and you show to the galaxy that you can thrive on withouth the help that beloved 'acid waste slum'.

And again you miss the point of my thread, that is...:

Zulu_DFA wrote...

Because Earth is a huge resource and money sink for the Alliance. The Alliance should be happy the Earth is getting smashed, just like a greedy nephew is happy when his old, cranky and rich uncle is meeting the Grim Reaper. Think Udina, think TIM. No point in sacrificing the fleets to save the unproductive population.

Of course, the relatives and buddies of the wealthy Alliance honchos would get evac'd, and it stands to reason that the Alliance would assist in the evacuation to that end, but the main efforts would be undertaken by Earth's nation states (with no Alliance insignia on the vehicles).

And this idea is just insane. Codex:

"The homeworld and capital of humanity is entering a new golden age. The resource wealth of a dozen settled
colonies and a hundred industrial outposts flows back to Earth, fueling great works of industry, commerce, and art. The great cities are greening as arcology skyscrapers and telecommuting allow more efficient use of land.

Earth is still divided among nation-states, though all are affiliated beneath the overarching banner of the Systems Alliance. While every human enjoys longer and better life then ever, the gap between rich and poor widens daily. Advanced nations have eliminated most genetic disease and pollution. Less fortunate regions have not progressed beyond 20th century technology, and are often smog-choked, overpopulated slums.

Sea levels have risen two meters in the last 200 years, and violent weather is common due to environmental damage inflicted during the late 21st century. The past few decades, however, have seen significant improvement due to recent technological advances."

And you seem to not understand any idea of preservation of life, nor how economy works, nor sociology, or politics to have an idea of how catastrophic the impacts would be for the Alliance if Earth would perish. If you still fail after everything here, I rest my case. I hardly recommend everyone do the same and let this thread die.

EU, UNAS, China and India most certainly pay to Alliance from their own taxes, which is more then enough and more then half of Earth population.

Grasping at straws again...

The wealthy nations that are the very foundation of the Alliance are located on Earth.

It's pretty much what they paid for. A fleet that can protect humanity and its interests.

Source,

All that is stated about the Alliance and earth in the codex is that the Alliance act as a general image of earth and that Alliance get's political support from the larger nations.

What would you think that would happen if All members of the UN suddenly need to pay for whatever.

Do we even know if North Korea has changed? Maybe they've been absorbed? Maybe they overthrew the tyrany of their government? Maybe there was a war and North Korea lost? We don't know. Stop using North Korea as an example.

The modern-day UN is not the same as the Systems Alliance in the MEverse. I highly recommend reading the link in my post, it lays everything out quite clearly.

Besides, we're not even certain if North Korea even exists as a country in the 2180s, so your point is moot.

The Alliance military is funded, mostly by Earth, to defend all humanity. The Alliance does not exercise local legal authority over Earth's nations, but Earth does bankroll the Alliance for the purpose of fielding a military force.

How do you know they don't already pay to fund the Alliance? I'm pretty sure people will pay for an interstellar force that stands between them and the unforgiving harshness of space.

That you are powerfull enough to go without it, especially since all those other aliens will try defend their planet against the reapers, they get smashed up, if we hold our fleet back until we have a weapon we not only defeat them, but also have the option to establish human dominance.

Those two countries are closer to reuniting then ever before right now,I doubt that NK would survive to 2020 let alone 2185.

But you're not powerful without it. The other races don't have a majority of their population concentrated on the homeworld. They've had centuries to expand. As an example, look at Illium. Humanity has had 40 years, and about 80%-90% of Humanity is still on Earth. That's not a show of force, that's plain stupidity and the other races will laugh at us for it. Hell, the Quarians will laugh at us for it.

you're right...the SA pulls money out of their asses and makes it with magic. You are the only one allowed to make unbased assumptions and be 100% absolutely right, but when someone makes a point that makes sense they are just being sentimental....you're an idiot.

In that way, should't colonies pay too, and the companies that invest in those colonies.

The Alliance was made to operate outside of the Sol system, it's very first thing that is mentioned in the codex entry.
