I say Ashley. She's a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the Alliance. So I could see her turning on you, if you go against the Alliance and let Earth burn.

If not wanting 6 billion people to be killed by the Reapers not to mention the homeworld of the human race to be destroyed is a fanatic, then count me in as one.:?

If letting Earth die is needed to save the entire galaxy, then it has to be done. 1 planet isn't worth the price of several thousand planets.

I would never abandon Earth if such a decision had to be made then my shep would die defending Earth, and let the aliens fend for themselves.

So you would let everyone get wiped out just to try and save a planet, that is already lost? The greater good says to fall back, regroup, and attack the Reapers when you have a better chance. Throwing your life away just for Earth seems pointless.

Well to you maybe, but not to me. Remember the Alamo!

I could see any number of betrayal depending on Shepard's actions. The most disappointing thing for me would be everyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya. I can see Shepard getting everyone on the same page with some factions loyal to him/her and others who are along out of necessity, and just who s/he couldn't make loyal could have serious consequences.

As for Liara/Miranda, I could see a situation where she may take it upon herself to do something that paragon Shepard is unwilling to do. I'm not sure about renegade Shepard since s/he can be a total DB on his/her own already.

Forget the Alamo...not sure how knowledgeable you ppl are on Halo lore...but the planet Harvest WAS in this situation basiclly. Covanent made First Contact with humanity on Harvest, the planet was partly glassed and the planet was taken with little to no effort...humanity counter attacks with the biggest army ever assembled and fights them on Harvest for 5 years just for that one planet, Meanwhile the Covanant is still moving, still taking human worlds. But they were dedicated to Harvest. They finally took Harvest from the Covanant and rejoiced. of course eventually they lost most of their other colonys...includeing Reach, and eventually most of Earth except for a few major cities. While that war was 30 years long and most of the Covanant victorys were Pyhrric...humanity was still nearly destroid.

I think it would be really cool if Garrus finally snapped and did something terrible. But that's unlikely to happen. My vote is for Tali or Miranda. Or well, Thane in the throes of righteousness and hopped up on meds does something stupidly heroic and honorable and gets people killed.

Thane "No Shepard you can't kill the last reaper he isn't armed! I've been an assasin all my life and I just decided to grow conscience!"
Shepard "But its a Reaper bro!"
Thane shoots shepard sets the Reaper free and 100 years later we get Mass Effect 4 Revenge of the Reapers!

Vague Spoilers Alert

Which character will betray or go batshat crazy in ME3? My vote is Liara. She is my number 1 LI but you can tell in ME2 that she is changing, she is no longer the sweet innocent Dr. Liara T'soni that we met in ME1. she has a dark side that shows up the Shadowbroker dlc. I think this is Biowares way of hinting at her future character arc. Now lets look at Anders in DAO he is a carefree joker who just wants to be free of the tower. In DA2 he begins showing his darkside and then at the end his shocking plan comes to light. I see a pattern between these two characters, what do you guys  think?

BTW I am in no way suggesting that Liara is working for the Reapers merely that she might have her own dark agenda.

I'm sorry to break this to you but if you've paid attention to the contents of the Lotsb DLC (As well as Liara's ME2 cameo) you would have noticed Liara's darker personality isn't quite what it seems. She put up some emotional barriers in order to survive in the shadowy world of information brokering, as well as trying to cope with the loss of Shepard (whom she either considered friend or lover) and Feron. Her aggression is solely aimed at the Shadow broker, and once he's out of the way, you can already see her personality is lightening again (even if it's a little)

I do not for a moment believe Liara, of all characters, would betray Shepard in ME3 and quite frankly, we don't need to. It's a safe bet some important npc will turn up indoctrinated with Shepard having to kill him/her but it doesn't need to be a squad member. Frankly, ending up indoctrinated and turning on Shepard can't really be called betrayal...

Anders didn't quite betray Hawke, well he lied about his potion but he never went straight againt Hawke, he merely had his own agenda. If Hawke didn't care about the chantry then it wasn't even a betrayal as the entire thing meant nothing. It was simply Anders' only way to force a war between the templars and mages as he knew a compromise would not help the mages at all. I certainly didn't see it as betrayal. Every character had his/her own mission in DA2, Anders' mission just had a little more consequences than others.

Liara is power obsessed and definitely acting out of character in ME2... maybe one of those prothean artifacts wasn't really prothean (indoctrinated?)

Legion... Side with the Quarians in their efforts to retake Rannoch by force... "We will fight for our continued existence."

Tali... if you choose to side with the Geth or otherwise endanger the fleet will probably turn on you. If she's your love interest I'd expect it to be with her crying as she does so.

Miranda... is indoctrinated if you kept the base since she was chosen to study it when your crew was split up for the trial. May also be indoctrinated if the remains of the base are recovered for study.

Jacob... Miranda's lieutenant, ends up indoctrinated for the same reasons?

Those are just a couple possibilities.

There are arguments for both sides, we shall see...

I hated Anders the only thing I found satisfying in DA2 was gutting that crybaby/jerk. DA2 was a letdown story was unworthy of BioWare. And the Benidect Aronald will be Miranda I think.

EDI, most likely. She was programmed using Reaper technology and, no matter how noble she was in ME2, she is still a Cerberus-built AI. No doubt the Illusive Man put some sort of override protocol in her that will jack stuff up at the worst possible time (and it doesn't help that Cerberus is an enemy in ME3). That's why I wasn't very comfortable with her being the Normandy even after the Collector Base. "Okay, EDI, I got the crew back... go back into your core, please. Joker's got it handled... please..."

And please, Bioware, if it's even anyone, please have it not be the VS. I would accept the squadmate that died on Virmire returning as some sort of Shepard-hunting cybernetic super-husk before I would accept the VS being another Anders.

Maybe BW introduces a new character for that. And maybe they're going to call him...
