This pretty much sums up my thoughts. I'm sorry to be so negative after FemShep finally receives some attention, but if all changes are for the worse, I just can't be very happy.Eurhetemec wrote...
I'm just really sad that none of them look remotely like the "real" default FemShep, who is tough-looking and seems Soldier-y. Instead they all look like variations on Winona Ryder (hot but not tough, sorry - unlike Sigourney Weaver, say) with waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much eye-make up and trying to give out an attitude.
I'd seriously like to hear some kind of explanation to why 'Jane' wasn't even included in the polls.

You obviously did not understand my post. I did not say that "stating that blonde is a cliché" devalues the voting. I said going INTO the blonde femshep pic and saying crap like "this one with red hair" devalues the vote. Although I will say claiming blonde hair is a cliché is pretty insulting, especially to people with blonde hair.Samurai_Smartie wrote...
Seriously?
Stating that blonde is a cliché is not directly devaluating.
However if people are sooooooo concerned about avoiding femshep being cliché then how about she gets day glo green hair eh ? I don't think that has been done anywhere
If you want red hair with the style of blonde femshep then the appropriate thing to do is to vote in the red haired femshep pic and make a comment in that pic stating you want this colour hair with No. 5's hairstyle.

Because she looks like Samus Aran and because I like trolling you guys.
Edit: If Shepard #5 actually becomes the new default femShep I might actually consider playing a femShep for the first time in my life. So far I've only played Sheploo because the options for creating a custom Shep SUCKS.
Also, Shepard #4 looks like a retarded hipster. Please BioWare DON'T CHOOSE #4 THE RETARDED HIPSTER.

Honestly I like 5 regardless of hair colour of which I don't mind what colour hair but Ashley Williams is the ponytailed type and seem silly to have two ponytailed women in crew, I don't want my femshep to look like a boy with implants and very short hair either. Rock chick red highlight femshep above looks silly to me like she would be more suited to popstars the rivals or x factor sing a long show. Going by all the comments here and below poll itself seems that 5 is the preferred choice by quite a very long way and people mostly wish to have 5 with red hair. So by looks of it if carries on same way 5 with red hair is going to win.
Imho the default femshep in prior games looks pug faced. So I would prefer not to use PugShep.

To be honest, all of them look pretty good. Too bad only one gets chosen. Would be nice to have all of those as option and I might consider playing female Shepard properly.

Oh and despite someone trying to explain the whole 'blonde cliche' thing, to me it still doesn't make sense, can someone please name me all the 'blonde' heroines in comparison to all the brunette/redheads we've had as of late.
As for it being due to nations merging and thus natural blonde being a thing of the past. Sorry but that just reminds me of the Walken/Hopper scene in 'True Romance' and thus I can't take it seriously. I mean... if it were true Bioware would've made sure that you couldn't have a 'blonde' Shepard. Thankfully Bioware aren't so anal retentive as some of the fools on this forum.

Yep and think how many blonde characters we really have in Mass Effect. Like 2 or something.

#2 is also ok.
#1 looks like Winona Ryder, #4 looks like some Victoria Beckham/Ash mix, #5 has strange hair, #6 looks scary.
#5 could be ok with brown hair though.
They all look like teenagers though. I would have prefered it if they actually did look like adults (like Sheploo does).
The original default femshep looked better than any of these.
Not complaining too much though, I'm happy that there'll be a femshep.

I won't lie to you and say current FemShep isn't a bit pug-faced. She is. But they could have cured that AND made her look cool, and instead they switched us to "Winona Ryder, aged 18, in a cyberpunk movie", which is not what I really expect for a a what 29 or 31-year-old soldier who has shot her way through half the galaxy. She doesn't need to look old, but she should look like she's at least old enough to drink, and tough enough to drink a Krogan under the table.
I continue to suggest the blonde isn't winning because she's blonde, she's winning because she has the most "girly" haircut, and most guys are voting on who they want to screw, not who they want to play.

I wouldn't call her pug-faced. In fact, I find her fairly attractive, and I adore the fact that she is that in a non-stereotypical way. These new ones all seem to fall into the "hey, let's make a basic good-looking female" category, and consequently are pretty predictable. Not to mention too young.Eurhetemec wrote...

Edit: Somewhere, someone suggested a streak of gray in both Shepards' hair. That would be beyond awesome.

You call her what you want and I'll call her what I want, being different for the sake of being different is no better than being sterotypical. You don't have to have short hair to be a strong female and you don't have to always look trim and proper if your constantly fighting in fact I would say the opposite is better, long hair unkempt and sligthly messy is better than short and tidy.

I voted for #1. But it's difficult to see their facial features, an image zoomed on the face would have been better. #5 is good too, I just don't see Shepard as a blond.
I think your Shepard (in your avatar) is the way FemShep should look!
I use your little guide for getting the Ashley texture ALL the time! Great work! XD
Though, I don't like the hairstyle...

Tbh though it doesn't bother me at all really which is set as default as all 4 of my female Shepard's that I will be importing are custom. (I have one bottle blonde, one dark blonde, one redhead and one brunette)
The only thing I'd like to be able to do is to be able to change my custom Femsheps hairstyle at the beginning of ME3 and make it like the style of no.5. (Or any other new styles that there may be). Hopefully we will be able to do that.
