Christ almighty all this furor over a blonde Shepard. Knowing Bioware they might not even do it now.

Indeed.

Or rather, knowing Bioware, they'll give you the option to have whatever hair colour you prefer.

I hope Tali is blonde..and then shot in the head.

Because she's blonde or because it's Tali?

If Sheploo looks like he's 30 something...why would Femshep look like she's 19?

That's the thing though, lore wise Sheploo should look a lot longer.  Then again one could argue Sheploo is your "true" Earthborn character and may not have been born into the part of society that had or could afford gene therapy etc.  Or Femshep just ages better than maleshep...

A lot of people I know look 20ish up until 25-29 then begin taking on traits which make them look 35ish-40ish.  I'd say:

"If Sheploo looks like he's 35-40 something...why would Femshep look like she's 20-25?"

I think my problem with #4 is that the hair looks unwieldy. That and the red streak doesn't look like something a soldier would have.

Then again, I'm totally okay with Ash's new hairstyle. Then AGAIN, none of her hair is actually over her face, once someone checked.

She's a spectre now.
Spectre may decide to be cool as long as it remains effective.

She even more badass with the red streak !!!!!

Look her face, who want to **** with her ?

Wishing she looked older and more hardened too. She's not a cadet after all...

Yeah exactly, she needs to look like a person of authourity.
In my oppinion the best fictional starship captain is Captain Janeway of Star Trek Voyager.

But I figure Bioware would want femshep to be a tad more attractive.  So who looks like Janeway but is more attractive, but still has that look of authority... Gillian Anderson.

So this is my mock-up

Oh my god..... You ruined Jane shepard forever ! :o

Meh... Sheploo is cannon shep

And hey, it happens to women too. One of my mother's friends was HAWT about 10 years ago.

Since then she's become a mother, and a decade later, while still really attractive, has age affecting her appearance.

I believe she's 40 something.

I guess what bugs me the most is that the faces they went with look nothing like what you can make with the existing character creator. I"ll admit that the whole situation is strange and unprecedented, but the whole idea of Femshep (who I actually do use) looking like Britney Spears from her stint on the Mickey Mouse Club is just too much of a stretch.

Shep 2 if only for the red hair. Make it the style in 5 and it's perfect!

I like 4 and 6, with 4 being my preferred.

No offense, but I would like to see someone who isn't white for once.

I would. With hair over her face she'd be less effective in a fight. And the red streak just makes her look amateurish in my opinion. But that's just it, its how I feel. Hence me voting for #5.

Her face is rather attractive though. But as a warrior on the battlefield, she doesn't look like she can last two seconds.

Casey Hudson already confirmed that the old preset will still be in ME3, so don't worry.

Yes. We should have the option to edit all aspects of our characters. However, we were talking about hair colour specifically :)

Predominantly, yes. Although since the topic is about the overall design, I thought it was worth mentioning.

Since everyone wants red hair and brown hair or black hair. This is the result of mixing all of them.
I also tried to change her face a little, but the picture is too small for me. And there's a scar. I accidentally traced a line, liked it and left it.

I agree with the second part, but like I said before:  Lore wise people in Mass Effect are able to choose what their kids will generally look like, live to 150+ years and gene therapy is becomming increasing common (mandatory for Alliance service adding strength, endurance etc).  The fact is, humans by that time, even in reality, will probably look 20-30 up into there 50s, 60s and beyond.  Hey it was even in the news recently that some scientist(s) I think were predicting the first person to live for 150 years is already born and the first person to live to 1000 will be born in the next 30-50 years.  With enough genetic research and advancement, there might be a lot of young, "pretty people" in the future.

Ok, but it's not about how young humans might look in the future, it's about how their faces come across to us players who live right now in times of wrinkles. You can't help thinking "Gee, she looks like a teenager" and find that inappropriate. Because it simply violates what we associate with age appropriate and seasoned soldier looks.
I believe that in this case it's more important than sci-fi age realism. There are only humanoid aliens for that same reason.

The problem with your argument is that I don't look at her and think "teenager," I can realistically see her looking 20 even if she was 60 based off progress in genetics in real life genetics and I don't have a preconceived notion about what a soldier 170 years from now or even today would look like.  I have seen female soldiers on the news that could give Femshep 5 a run for her money in looks no matter how rare it is.  Does that mean they're less of a soldier because they're pretty?  Or is it because they're pretty, so they can't be a good soldier cause they can't be tough and pretty at the same time.

In the end pretty people are soldiers too.  They're also scientists, engineers, academics, historians etc.
Young looking people can also be old.  My mother gets mistaken for being 35ish at 55.  I know a woman who's 42 years old and looks about my age.  Personally i'm 25 and a lot of people think i'm 15-16.    It happens and over time that will become more common.

Think about it.

It's just like in real life like when you see a woman and you're like "Damn, she is the prettiest girl I've ever seen" and then you ask their age and they say "40". On the flip side it is like when you see a really old or balding man and you find out he is only "29". It's in the genes.

Women Celebs that come to mind that are over 40 and still look under 30 or barely 30 are, Stacey Dash, Lisa Raye, Catherine Zeta Jones, Naomi Watts

lol.
Personally, I do not mind at all. I do not think the vision of my shepard when she pulls. It's art design, I do not really think about this stuff in a video game. hairs in Mass Effect 1 and 2 sucked so much that I couldn't complain about a real change and a nice innovation.

I can understand. Each may have its difficulties for different reasons. Me it does not bother me.

I like the hair of n5 too. If I can change the color, it would be perfect.
