But in all honesty, its called a differing opinion, and what do you mean about squid heads and Lara Crofting?
I meant that in the ME world we don't get too many different body shapes for females and they're all slim and sexy, including asari (squid heads). So not much variation there. And I agree with you there aren't too many blondes, but let's face it - with the lighting renders they have in place, blonde just doesn't look very good. So my point was, in answer to your point, why would people like something that's a rarity in the ME world when it so clearly conveys a stereotypical "bimbo" as someone before me put it (and might not look so good in game as on the art piece)?
Yes, it's all opinion after all, I just expected the community's opinion to differ overall. Having in mind how people protested against the overly sexualised armors, they're now going for the look that's totally unimaginative...
I'm not too sure she conveys automatic bimbo, many think she's the most intimidating femshep choice. Is it her hair colour that makes her a bimbo? Would you be saying the same thing if it was a guy? Or her hair colour was red? I doubt it. Also not everyone falls back on stereotypes all the time. Now if Shepard started speaking in the sexualized manner etc. every two seconds with a different voice actress, than I would worry. I have never judged someone who's blonde to be an idiot, I just don't see the correlation execpt in movies and TV which isn't reality.
There's a difference between the part of the community that posts stuff like overly sexualised armors (very small minority), those who respond to those debates (a minority), those who just read topics/visit forums (a much larger minority) and the vast majority of people who don't care or visit these forums. You can't "judge" a community by the topics on these boards. Most people who speak out have qualms with something. When someone doesn't, they usually say nothing.
Originality has nothing to do with the choice either. Who said it was a requirement for bioware to make an original looking Femshep? Even Sheploo looks like 75% of the male protagonists in games. It's about delivering a femshep that the majority of Bioware fans will be happy with. A lot of people want an attractive femshep and not just the plain Jane version from ME1 and ME1. That's the whole point of this excercise and the choice just happens to be Femshep 5 by polling.
As for the body shapes, it's the same reason why there were no female turians, krogan, slarians etc. Save time, money, and memory. That's the only reason hehe.

It's easily done though... make the default FemShep tweakable... and everyone is happy. Red-headed fans can have that, Black haired fans can have that... dark skinned fans can have that... people want blonde but in a different style... they can have that, etc ....
I agree that they could make it a bit tweakable, but only the hair colour. The point of a pre-rendered head is to have more detail. Once you start allowing tone differences that detail has to take into account tint maps, making normal maps that can support all colours of hair (which may make blonde hair look too light in order to support darker hair or vice versa). So a really cool blonde femshep might start to look as detailed as a normal preset, which would defeat the point. A better solution would be to update custom character creation with more DAO/DA2 like faces and parts/editing.
