You made a comment and ran thinking no one would hold you to your comment.  Number 4 was said to look like Beyonce earlier in the thread.  That's not insulting considering she looks nothing like Beyonce?  You made the comment about her looking like Rihanna and she doesn't look like her, but for some reason you don't see how insulting that is?  One of my earlier posts included that I could probably 'make a statement about how we all look alike', but somehow people didn't see that.  But you think I'm looking for negativity.  No, my friend.  As I said earlier, I want to be the last person to pull the race card.  The very damn last person to do so, and I gave my reasons for why I jumped in.  But seeing comments about number 4 resembling Beyonce and Rihanna is taking it somewhere it should never go because they look nothing like option 4.

No, dipstick. It's not insulting to think a character looks like a real person. Even if you disagree.

We all see physical apperances differently - that's why we're having this vote.

If the character doesn't look like the real person mentioned, there's no point in calling that person out or can your feeble mind not get that?

When I decide I want to deal with a douche I'll call you, ok?

While I'm not wild about any of the options, I like #4 the best. But why am I not surprised that blonde FemShep is winning? Never understood the love of blonde a lot of guys seem to have. I personally prefer darker hair. (and skin, as can be easily guessed by looking at my profile pic)

People are picking the hairstyle, not the color. I picked five but I'm definetely one of the Does She Come in Red? subfaction.

I chose none. All the options look like girls and I can tell you for a fact that no girl has saved the universe, twice.

Stick with the same femshep from the other two games. Simple. Is sex appeal that important to Bioware, or is this EA telling them that if they want to put Femshep on the box, they have to make her so?

If the issue is that Femshep was never as detailed ingame as the male version, then put that detail in, but don't change into a fresh faced 20 something! How can we ever buy that she was a war hero when she looks like she'd be lost without a mirror?!

But that's SUBJECTIVE. Several people believe that number 5 looks like Keira Knightley but I disagree. Oh dear... Does this mean I have to knocking someone off for being sooo stupid in making that comparison that I don't see?

Hint: No.

Edit: haha, all these Number 5 and Number 4 talk is starting to remind me of Battlestar Galactica. :P

........So the problem is that someone compared.........one of the presets.........to a couple of celebrities?

Hey, someone earlier said that #6 looked like Adrianna Lima. I HIGHLY disagree, but why on Earth would that be offensive in ANY way?

What are you getting at, dude? Just say it.

I already stated it in an earlier post.  When people compare a look of character to a black celebrity there's usually a question of whether that's considered good or not.  The same is usually not the same in reference to a caucasian celebrity.  In this case it's used as a negative which falls into the usual case for how it's used.  I didn't see the comment about Adrianna Lima and I don't think that she does look like her either, but if it's used to say something negative about the character then what am I supposed to take from that?

It's concept art, not the final product. If the end result is an 18 year old lingerie model with a spine snapping rack, then complain.

I would say that is a pretty cheeky assumption personally, you don't know why 16,000 voted for the blonde femshep.  You know it is quite possible the vast majority of those 16,000 did actually vote because of the hair colour.  I know when I voted hair colour was my first concern.

The more I see Rihanna, the more I'm glad Blondie is winning.

Why do you say that?:(

I said I wasn't going to post, but I knew someone would reinforce the idea behind belittling the examples showing any ethnicity other than caucasian.  It's a bigoted statement to make and I'm sure LP knows it.  Any time someone references someone looks like a person of color and doesn't say that it's good it's usually negative.  The same cannot be said about others.  Someone says one example looks like Natalie Portman everyone that doesn't like Ms. Portman has to voice that they don't like her.

Those who express the same statement LPPrince made have to go out of their way to explain their statement because they know it will be viewed as a bigoted statement.  Good luck trying to explain it though.  As another poster said: the Aryan is winning. <_<

That's just looking for negativity where there isn't any. I find Blondie to be a better fit than #4, which looks similar to Rihanna.

Rihanna in the first pic? Nice. Not for a soldier, but she's pretty.

2nd pic? Not so much. Or at all, really. And that's the one that best mimics #4.

That's my point. Not, "ALL HAIL ARYAN RACE" which would be crazy since I'm American, Cuban, Indian, Spanish, Irish, tanned skinned, and have absolutely no issues with people of other races.

Look for positivity.

I said before that #4 looks amateurish. This is true, at least for me. She looks good as a model(especially with that red streak in her hair) and looks cute, but I can't take her seriously as a soldier.

That's just my opinion though. I wanted to clarify that there's no hidden meaning/intent behind what I'm saying, as I feel that's what it might be coming off as to you and that is definitely not the case.

Do you really think that having a mixed background means you can't be a bigot?  You say I'm looking for negativity.  You were asked why you said what you said.  It took me to point to how your comment can be interpreted everytime it's made for you to even discuss it.

*peers carefully at #4*

So if I said that I don't like number 4 because I subjectively THINK she looks too much like the celebrity Rihanna, (who I enjoy listening to) I'm a racist or am I missing your point?

Does it make you feel better that I don't like number 1 because it looks too much like Natalie Portman?

I really like 5 because of the uneven hair and she's the only one that looks like she'll tear you in half if you so much as move a muscle. Once again, MY opinion... :police:

Note: I know your directing this at LP but I can't help but feel you're kinda overblowing a simple opinion that LPPrince prefers a Shepard that doesn't look like a famous celebrity.

At least, 5 looks like the badass Samus Aran. :D

Does number one look like Natalie Portman?  That's painfully obvious.  If the character actually looks like the celebrity then there's no problem.  Then again, Natalie Portman is caucasian so the same application of "so and so looks like this celebrity" doesn't apply like it would for a dark skinned character.  And number 4 obviously doesn't look like Rihanna and many are using it as a negative point to reinforce their distaste for her.

I disagree, lots of people who've voted for five have also said they prefer a red or brunette option version of it. All of them? by no means but enough for me to feel confident that many prefer the look to the color.

First of all, since Mass Effect 1 the community has been asking for two things from Bioware when it comes to Femshep:

1.  Use Femshep in advertising.
2.  Make a high res Femshep, so we don't have to use the "less than stellar" character creation tools for 5 hours trying to make something half decent.

EA has nothing to do with it.

Secondly, Femshep is a "20 something" for the service history background and Mass Effect 1.  She's 32 by 2186 post-ME2 (minus two years if you don't count her Cerberus rebuild).  Then take into account all the lore about genetic therapy/enhancements and just good genes, Shepard could easily look 20 something.  Like I and others have said many times:  If you don't like the high res face, don't use it.  The same way people who don't like Sheploo create their own faces.

I think we can all agree that better textures for custom Sheps and better character creation sliders would be welcomed though as well.
