why is it about protocol? considering shep's been a soldier for 13 years or something, I think by now she would value a practical haircut higher than a pretty one.

though, I'll admit, this is not necessary, since everyone can have his own thoughts about the personality of his character.

It just seems the most likely to me.

What I said was an explanation for why Shepard might not have a military cut.

Shepard is likely back with the Alliance in ME3.

Its not like they will put so much inphasis on his or her hair while the Earth is being destroyed. They made male shepard very haggard looking and he was growing a beard. Its unlikely he really cared or even others in the military cared much about keeping their hair up to Military standards.

Heh, I wouldn't equate growing a little facial hair to looking haggard. Haggard would be looking like Ryan Dunn(LAWL, and he was the star of the movie Haggard) rather than the way Shepard is in ME3.

Eh. Shepard looks a bit dirty, seems to be getting his scars back, gettin his facial hair on lol and looks a bit tired. The Earth is getting destroyed around him everyone on Earth would be looking haggard as hell as they should be.

My stepfather was in the Army/Army Reserve for 20 years. Been out a few years now.

Guess what? He still keeps his hair cut down to military level. Because its drilled into them from the start.

The keyword though is "He", I can't imagine all the women who leave army do the same.

Personally, I think I'll be adding some facial hair to my canon Shepard in ME3 also. Not to a crazy haggard level, but just a little. To show growth, you know?

I agree on that, but Shepard is still a soldier, Alliance or freelance, she's in firefights time and again.

I wouldn't generalize it down to the "sex" of the person, but rather just the person.

All I'm saying is, you can roleplay your Shepard as the type who keeps the military level in and out of it, or the type who lets go of the restrictions when given freedom.

That's not really the key thing to be honest. The way I see it depending on what type of shepard you have Shepard could likely not care much for the Alliance any more or even the Council for what they've done. Hell after coming back from the dead and going through the **** hole again I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard just stopped caring and did whatever the hell he or she wanted with their hair and other things lol.

@LPPrince

True but if the default femshep has long hair then people who want short will not like it and the same applies if she has short hair the ones who RP it with long hair won't like it so it comes down to preferences. I prefer longer, slightly unkempt for my femshep.

So it really comes down to votes again the shorter hair variety was voted for less than the longer in which case the longer should really take precedence. Now in an ideal world all of them would be presets and on top of that the ability to edit those presets hair colour wise, but I doubt that will happen.

Failing that people still have the ability ot make anyone they want with custom or importing if like their old femshep.

Honestly I don't see a single problem with number 5 being the default femshep in fact I voted for it.

That's why you're not locked down to presets.

By the way, I want people to guess-

By the time #3 makes it to 10,000 votes on facebook(needs another 1.5K just about), how much do you think #5(Blondie) is going to have?

Blondie's currently way ahead with 20,348 votes.

Am I the only one that thinks they all look like a Final Fantasy teenage protagonist? What is with these 16 yr old femsheps. Jennifer Hale's voice wouldn't even fit them.

Oh, and just because I think some of you will laugh about it, I made Strawberry Blondie my default on facebook.

Speaking of which, every time I say or type Strawberry Blondie, I get thirsty for a smoothie or milkshake.

I know some teenage girls and the do not look like that. Sorry dude. If they did I would be a bit scared. At the very least they look 20. Also it is very inaccurate to compare them to someone from Final Fantasy. That's just a exaggeration really.

If I could, I'd take the facial structure of #3, and give it to #4, of which I like the hair, the skin, and the lips. I also think those two look the most like they belong in that N7 armor.

My third favorite is #6, but she looks too girly to be Shepard.

All in all, a fairly promising lot.
