they got mark vanderloo to do maleshepards face, why dont they get someone to do femshep's face? like that holly conrad person perhaps?

It would be a waste to pay someone for the rights to use their face for the last game in the trilogy.

She just has a very round, youthful, feminine face.  It's not the face I picture when I hear Hale's voice or imagine her headbutting a krogan.  I'm not saying it couldn't work, but it's the kind of face I see a lot in videogames.  I was hoping for something more distinct/unique.  Anyway, my summer job's at a liquor store, and if any of those FemSheps walked in, I'd be asking for ID.  Big eyes, ample baby fat, no wrinkles?  Come on, now, who comes out of saving the galaxy twice looking ready for their photoshoot with Vanity Fair?

BTW, blonde hair is awesome, and she doesn't look derpy enough to be a bimbo.  Unlike Sheploo.

Well that's because you're supposed to ID someone that doesn't look over what 40? And I actually think the look is really unique, and it's really the kind've look I've been using on my Sheps since the beginning so in my head the voice fits her perfectly. Really, I have no quarrel with the people that are just opposed to the girl, but calling her a bimbo because she cares about the way she looks is ridiculous. (I know you didn't say she was, and I think it's awesome that you even said she didn't look that way)

"I can screw a turian without dying horribly, kill a thresher maw with my bare hands, and come back from the dead after being spaced/burned up/frozen for weeks, but ooohh, I MUST do something about these awful, awful frown lines!"

Granted, you can roleplay a FemShep that's meticulous with her appearance or just naturally gorgeous/youthful-looking, but what's wrong with not being afraid to show your age?  Or looking older than you are?  Or NOT being a fashion model?  What's wrong with the dozens of other kinds of beauty?  Why so... generic?  Seriously, the leading ladies of Mass Effect all have very unique faces, ones that still manage to be very attractive even if they have unconventional features (man-jaws, sharp noses, no hair/eyebrows, a goddamn bucket for a head, etc).  Why should Shep be any different?

For one, I have to believe that the whole headbutt scene was meant to be done with a helmet, it's just too derpy not to be. (God I hate that scene.) And while I admit Miranda has a HUGE jaw, and Ashley has a bit of a hook nose, I'll point out that it's because Sheploo is gorgeous in my opinion, and while his face doesn't always translate right in the game.. (Rape face and so on) it doesn't make him any less attractive. Why should Femshep be any different?

Okay, how does "older and less generic" equal "about to retire?"  I am also a female gamer in my early 20's, and I happen to like unique and memorable faces better than traditionally attractive ones.  I'm not vouching for making her some ugly old hag (hell, I'm guilty of tweaking my Sheps' faces for hours to get him/her just right), but there should be something about her that makes you go "hey, it's Shepard!" other than the fact that she's wearing the N7 armor and is much higher res than a custom one.  This just looks like they just tried to make a pretty face.

Nothing wrong with a FemShep that's cute as a button, but it should be the kind of button you find in an old drawer somewhere that is completely different from every single button you've ever seen.

And yeah, I wouldn't mind something that looked more like she'd been in the military for over ten years, thank you very much.

Well, 18 years is retirement in the military, so to be technical; 30 something is getting on upto retirement considering she joins up right out of school. Technicalities aside, I was just throwing a big hyperbole out there to vent my frustrations and kind've pick fun at those that threw bimbo and barbie out loosely. On topic though, really how many military guys/girls out there are that button that sticks out in a drawer? They're all pretty uniform and due to the nature of the beast, a custom face or even this default Jane are never going to be the sculpted characters that the party members/sheploo are.

And if you want to throw on some years on her, they still have the character editor there for that very reason. I do respect and understand your frustrations on this though; but as it stands.. I'm just happy the population is voting in my favor for once.

I like 6, 3, and 1.

Argh, but she looks too young! I want a tough, hardened b*tch, not this teenage whippersnapper.

They all look as old as my wife and she is 37.

I don't mind it, it just looks a bit odd when you compare her to sheploo who looks old enough to be her dad. Maybe the stress just really got to him.

do remember that the female shepard is a concept art, Sheploo would likely look younger too if he was made with the same style(as you can tell by him having a lot more facial details than the female one.)

Because then the fans couldn't have fun arguing about it on the internet.  BioWare cares.

You guys/girls got your own custom face that I'm sure they put work in for and will be used in advertisements and you're still complaining?

Of course.  Complaining about stupid details is what we do best here on the BSN.  That's why the first two letters are BS.  They want you to think they stand for Bioware Social, but we know better.

It's the internet, he should have know better then to ask that. Especially here of all places.

I was hoping for a ginger Shep, but I'm not digging 2 much. Her and 4 with the emo hair, hanging in her face. I like all the rest, and would be happy with any of them, but #3 is my favourite.

I see that #3 and #4 are getting closer and closer in number of votes, but are still well under #5 as neither has reached 10K as of yet. I imagine that'll change before the sun rises here, and if not then, prior to noon.

Yeah I know what you mean. Sheploo has blue eyes and have I brown so that annoys me a little but it happens. It would be cool if you could customize the default for both M/F shep but I doubt that they'll let you do that.

Sometimes I wonder what my canon Shepard would look like if I did things differently.

I was sorta torn between 4 and 5 but I voted 4 just for a little diversity.

Would've preferred the red-haired one, but in all honesty, I am okay with the blonde one being our default Femshep.

I find it ironic that according to some people the Alliance is ok with bisexuality, facial hair, hooker makeup and breaking almost every other regulation any militaries could possibly have but having long hair is the final straw.

I don't understand the 'hairstyle doesn't fit / is too long a soldier' argument for #5.

It's just an updated version of the old - and very popular - existing shoulder-length style. Seriously, compare them for yourself:

Out with the old, in with the new.

I like no. 5, simply because she is - eerily - exactly how I imagine the FemShep I write to look (blonde hair an' all).
Less make-up would've been nice. For GS, she's a soldier! I'd have liked just one option where the emphasis was on natural beauty, rather than where they magically seem to have professionally applied eyeshadow and lipgloss/stick. That's the case with all the BioWare faces, actually - custom and some of characters like Ashley.
