there, merged number 1 and number 5 adding transparency to the superimposed image

note that the facial structure is IDENTICAL..no deformation....even with pixel per pixel cloning the only difference is some lightning and in some images the make-up

once we realize the faces are identical then we also realize people are complaning solely about hair color at this point and not anything else

Number 5. But make her a brunette or a redhead, or give her black hair, and then we're talking! /faint

Fine iwth me.  Just can't stand blond.  Too overdone, too pornstar-esque.  Don't go there with shep. Just no.

It's funny that you say it's overdone. How many blonde squadmates do you have in Mass Effect? None. How many blonde on Normandy? None. There is few blonde people on Mass Effect games, but they aren't that many. There are lot of other haircolors (mostly black), but not that many blondies.

So that is just a bad excuse.

Yeah... What he said, and stuff... you got nothing to say now have you?
Can't wait to use this new default FemShep for ME3 :D

Actually with this post and can see a few differences regarding the lips and nose. If I could see it in more detail I could likely pick out more differences other than hair and skin tone.

Even now that looks different than 5 or 4 on their own. They do have different features, they're just too subtle to see at low resolution.

lol. You can't add detail by blowing up an image 500%.

details....no

but I can catch the outlines closer and do a pixel per pixel cloning...which I did

and resulted in realizing that bit about the lips and the nose

So I read that PCGamer Article.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't think anything needs to be said regarding it. It literally speaks for itself.

Hmm, I don't know...all the choices seem like a casting call for some whinging CW11 series that says, "I'm rich and beautiful but I have problems, too."

All the faces seem to be a little too soft (maybe even prissy?) to convey that combat-hardened edge one would expect for Shep. I understand the need to have an attractive default female Shep for marketing purposes (as was done for Male Shep via Mark Vanderloo), but really?

Bioware could model their default female Shepard after someone like Lena Headey (from 300, Sarah Connor Chronicles, and most recently Game of Thrones) if they want beauty with a hard edge:

Or Angela Bassett

Or Michelle Rodriguez

Or Milla Jovovich

I searched for images that weren't necessarily the most flattering of the respective actresses, but rather could convey a credible sense of military experience. Of course, they can still get glamoured out when the occasion calls for it, as in Katsumi's side mission DLC.

All of the white Shepards appear to have the same exact face aside from eye color, but 3, 4 & 6 all have differences, some more subtle than others. To me, 6 looks the most like 1, 2 & 5, but even she has a different jawline, brows, nose and lips. It's obvious they were made using the same template, but I wouldn't call them 'the same'.

After reading the PCGamer vitriol, I think I'm going to celebrate when I hear Blondie wins.

so

since the template was the same and the differences (aside for the hair) are small poositioning for the mouth, a nostril and skintone

would you not agree with me that people are basically just arguing about the hair at this point?? It's not that one shepard looks discinctly better.....they are just pissed about the hair color

No, I would not. I'm an artist. I appreciate how small changes can affect the character of an image.

And eyebrow shape, jawline, tearducts, the entire nose shape (one nostril? seriously?)...

This is my quote from another post, since I don't feel like saying it for another time:

Pulletlamer wrote...

They do have some differences and some similarities. The face is pretty much the same overall, maybe #3 has a bit of a more elongated face, but that is all. However the makeup, hair style, eye color, skin color, nose shape and lip thickness are a bit different.

They have different shape of nose, different lips, eye color, hair style, skin tone, different makeup and slightly different eyebrows. That still makes them different. The only thing that's identical(debatable) is the facial structure. We could arguably say they could be sisters from the same mother and different fathers. Still, they would have been very different  fathers, since the only common thing is the facial structure.

EDIT: Eyebrows are also different. Seriously. The only similarity is the face shape (#3 has it a bit more elongated, and it slightly differs in that gif above) and structure.

oh for the love of god Aris

the nose shape is almost identical....the dark skinned Shep has slightly larger nostrils (I said 1 jokingly because the other one is covered)

the gif you produced does now have all the differences you pointed out. The Eyebrow line is identical but number 5's is a little more faded. Jawline ...I got to give you that one.......still if you think about it number 5 has the stronger Jawline..something to think about

the septum is slightly different but the basic shape of the nose is identical.

Again......these are not differences (aside for the jawline.....I can really see that one now) that should result in saying "OMG shepard 5 is sooooooooo completely different from shepard 4 and 3"

yes I can also appreciate how small details can have great impact on the overall result but still, you get my point
