At first I thought it was to determine the model of female Shepard Bioware was going to use for marketing. The facebook page however says "vote which one you want in the game"
Is that supposed to mean we're voting on a new hairstyle? Or are they going to change the standart ingame model for females for the last game?

So I read that PCGamer Article.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I don't think anything needs to be said regarding it. It literally speaks for itself.
Lol my thoughts exactly, so I had to quote it. xD

oh for the love of god Aris
the nose shape is almost identical....the dark skinned Shep has slightly larger nostrils (I said 1 jokingly because the other one is covered)
the gif you produced does now have all the differences you pointed out. The Eyebrow line is identical but number 5's is a little more faded. Jawline ...I got to give you that one.......still if you think about it number 5 has the stronger Jawline..something to think about
the septum is slightly different but the basic shape of the nose is identical.
Again......these are not differences (aside for the jawline.....I can really see that one now) that should result in saying "OMG shepard 5 is sooooooooo completely different from shepard 4 and 3"
yes I can also appreciate how small details can have great impact on the overall result but still, you get my point
Yes but you can't say they look the same. A person with a different nose and different eye color and different hair and different jawline and different skin tone is still a different person. You can't say they look the same even if the differences look small.
EDIT:

Yes and Yes. You vote for the "default" face that will be in-game and also in the art book cover of the CE. By default I mean like Sheploo. So yes the one that wins actually replaces the actual Jane Shepard.

ok
let me rephrase then
the differences are not great enough to fuss over in the slightest. At this point people are just complaning over hair color (and if you think about it Shep 5 has the stronger jaw-line...which....is a good thing right?)

The only correct response to Sheploo would have been Shepvich, but alas, no luck.

And then I'm gonna picture in my head Blondie in the following scenario-
Blondie goes on the extranet. She looks up the FemShep polls and finds out she won. She remembers all the articles and people saying she was a bimbo, saying she was stupid, ugly, didn't look the part of a warrior, didn't have personality, etc etc. She says nothing, but has a little grin on her face. Pops on her headphones, and listens to her favorite track from almost 200 years ago-
In 2186, she's listening to the 1988 track, "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour
Which is totally gonna fit her. Ha.

The winner will be on the back of the Collector's Edition case, used in marketing, and will be the female high res model, similar to Sheploo, available at character creation.
Do note that JaneShep, the model from 1 and 2, will still be available.

Well, yes. They do complain (mostly) because she's blonde, since you cannot appreciate the differences on the Facebook photos. Which is quite stupid, but still.
And yes I agree on the jawline part. At least I like it that way.

I see... Oh well, appearently Bioware figured out how to make hair work in UE3 between ME2 and 3 so I approve. I hope the hairstyles will be availble during character creation/reconstruction though.

I disagree, I think the others are getting great support and they do have potential. Even if blonde femshep has 43% of the vote, that means 57% of people still want something different and may have grown attached to one of the others more. Therefore im inclined to think they will be added to the preset sliders in the Character Creation screen.
Remember this "default" poll is about the femshep we will see marketed in the trailer and on the box. Doesnt at all rule out the others from appearing in game. Although they may not at all be as detailed as the marketted one is.

Well, I have to admit that I am beginning to get a little hurt and angry. I am not a bigoted person. I voted for the black haired version and the ethnic version as well. I know that there are all kinds of people in this world and some are good, some bad. I would be willing to bet that it has nothing to do with their hair color. It sounds like you are saying that a brunette is incapable of being anything but tough and hard which makes you reverse bigots about your own coloring. Do some research about the blonde haired bimbos. You will see they pretty much started in the early days of movies. Actresses like Jean Harlow, Jayne Mansfield and Maralyn(spelling?) Monroe were all very popular blonde bombshells for their times. If you do any further research you will find that 99 percent of them were and are brunettes who bleached their hair blonde. Once they became such big stars, men began to make a big deal of them. This made a lot of American women want to be like them so more and more women began to get the bleach bottle blonde look so they could be more attractive.(never mind the fact that they were fine the way they were). Do you really think all those blondes in the movies are natural? NO! Most are brunettes still being fed the bull that they have to be blonde to be beautiful. I do know of a natural blonde in the movies that was successful. Grace Kelly was beautiful, graceful and regal. She married royalty.. HE thought she was good and intellegent enough to be in such an important position. Because of all the hype of blondes in the movies, one of the hair color companies began an ad campaign that claimed "blondes had more fun" in the '60's I believe and further encouraged the the women of America to think there was something wrong with them the way they were. THIS is were all the blonde bimbo crap started. I would would like to be graceful and forgiving for all of the jealousy and contempt that has been pointed at blondes because of the color of their hair but I am ashamed of the bigotry, childishness and downright meanness of you all. I am hurt and angry with you all. Take your Mass Effect 3 game with a red headed or brunette Femshep and have fun. Be proud of yourself. I have always in the past made my FemSheps with red, brown and black hair. No more. I will now be proudly blonde in every game I play. Please do not come back at me with the intelligent response that you don't care and think I am a baby. It is aleady more than obvious you have nothing but contempt for someone you don't even know. Have a nice life.

But when I saw 5, my immediate reaction was "Wow, that looks...right. That's the right head."
I just showed them to my brother, and when he said 5 might be the best, I asked him if it was because she was blonde, and he said it was more because she looked the most natural.
So, I wonder how many people were really voting for the blonde because she was blonde.
