It's just occurred to me that I have no idea what she's supposed to be standing on?

I think she's in front of the window on one of the Normandy's viewing decks. Like from the first ME3 trailer where Shepard is up there looking down on Earth, then turns and walks to the camera.

Although maybe she's not standing on anything. It could just be an artistic mock up with Earth as a backdrop to thematically represent the war theme to the game.

I voted for Shepard two, the blonde's hair is unrealistic and is just to much of a classic "barbie" figure. And becuase red hair is awsome, like mine!

it's not about clearing something up

you are asking Bioware to please let you tweak the defaults

Bioware simply can't.......

I understand.  Really I do, I promise!  I know we won't be able to tweak defaults but it doesn't mean I can't wish we could.

am I misreading the part in which you are asking "please Bioware let us tweak the defaults"?

RynJ wrote...
Bioware, if you take anything away from people's suggestion, PLEASE let us make adjustments to the defaults!.

and we already agreed that with mods nearly anything is possible but still, the vanilla game will not allow you to do that, Like the Vanilla ME2 game will not allow me to have a proper NG+ where all my upgrades carry on.......as much as I would wish that to be so

You are very charming, did you know that?

Yes I said that but I wasn't saying it actually expecting anything to happen. I don't think Bioware reads religiously through these threads to look for my suggestions.

But no good sir, you did not misread. You just falsely assumed that I was asking Bioware as if I thought they'd care.  Honest mistake.

Wooo sorry for the sarcasm there!  My mood is not where it should be tonight.

it's ok....you are dashingly sarcastic yourself...

point is Bioware those listen, in the small things as well as the large ones.

think about it.

-People wanted Garrus and Tali as LIs? They were given to us in ME2
-People wanted more geth weapons? Here comes the GPS
-People asked for laser sights? Enters the Phalanx
-People asked for a semi auto assault rifle ala hammerburst? Mattok is given to us
-People wanted more RPG elements after ME2...we will have more in ME3 (as far as we can tell)
-People were having fits about the planet scanning...it was patched to Make it less painful
-Liara's role burned us in vanilla ME and people were very put off by the bad writing? LotSB gave us the option to reconciliate
-A ton of people recoiled in horror at the news that NGR was about to be removed from ME2? Bioware tried to put it back in (and they did almost perfectly.....thank you BW)

just quoting a few examples that are close to me since I was on board with all of them

Bioware might not religiously read all threads and work on any suggestion but they do listen. Just in this case there is not much they can do (even tho I feel your pain)

I just wish they would simply have used the default Femshep from the first two games since changing the default look of the character in the last game just seems plain stupid and wrong.

I think it was a marketing dude"Hey we will let people who don't know who FemShep is or what she does vote for what she should look like,Then when the game comes out they will buy the game to see the FemShep they voted for."In my Opinion..the Teenage BarbieShep looks like she could lead a charge (with her Daddy's card) into BloomMartIfinay as long as she did not break a nail. That's in my Opinion of course.

This perhaps the worst comment I've seen thus far on the poll.
"Jamel Paul>I hope Bioware ignores this silly biased vote and chooses #4. There's already a white Shepard."
Hope he's trolling.

..because if the majority of people wanted a black femshep they would have voted #4 not #5.

Personally, I love FemShep #5. Everything about her. Wouldn't change a thing.

Forgive me if anyone has brought this up, but does anyone watch the 'Police Women" documentary-type shows on TLC?

It follows real police women from various counties in the US. A lot of them have long hair that they just tie back. (Crazy idea, right?)

Andrea Penoyer, one of the members of the elite street crime unit who is the team's runner (she chases down suspects) looks like this

Image IPB

Its a tiny pic, so you might not see that she has blue eyes too.

How is it okay for people to call the blonde unrealistic and barbie shepard, but when people say they don't want rhianna shepard thats prejudiced?

Arguments that blond would be worse soldier are just unfounded and simply stupid. Untied hair would be a handicap but during the fight she is wearing helmet, isn't she? So lenght of hair is also false problem in my opinion. What remains? Own, personal taste which is not thing to discuss. :) I personally prefer brunettes but have nothing against blondes, happened to had girlfriends with many different hair colors. ^_^

No matter which of them will be chosen I'll watch trailers, posters and stuff with femShep with glad. :)

If everyone voted for what race they wanted the protagonist of every game to be there would be barely any ethnic diversity in gaming at all.

I don't think anyone is saying that the protagonist should always be up for a vote, but rather, that once the die is cast one must follow through.  Don't offer something up for vote if you're not willing to honor the result.

If you need someone to answer this question for you, well, that's really sad. Racism is alive and well, and blonde isn't a "race", it's a hair colour, which anyone of any race can dye their hair to (Shepard has super-dark eyebrows so is presumably dyed). I say this as a real blonde.

If people weren't being racist, they'd say "I don't want hipster hair Shepard" or "I don't want that dumb Rhianna haircut" about #4. When they say "I don't want Rhianna Shepard", there is a racial element.
