I'm looking forward to finding out the VA and his backstory, whether he's a Deus Ex Machina or something more complex. I also want to see his interaction with the crew who've been with you from the start.

I hope he surprises everyone and ends up being a great and intriguing character. As of now I have no real oppinion of him, but I will agree that he looks like he snuck out Jersey Shore

Nope. They already said he's an extremely good soldier and he's apparently part of a special task force unit of the Alliance, so he probably will be something like a super biotic or tech genius, etc.

I'm looking forward to finding out who he is, but he probably won't be an LI for any of my existing Shepards, if he's even an LI option. I've got a Liaramancer of each gender, a solitary gay Shepard, a female Kaidanmancer, a male horndog, and a psycho b¡tch Shepard whose sexuality is more about dominance/control than anything else. So the gay Shepard and the pyscho b¡tch Shepards are the only ones who might go for James Vega. Hopefully he's an interesting character, that's all I ask of any of the new or returning characters.

I thought there were no new love interests? Ah well, doesn't matter. My opinion on James Vega is that he's a wild card. I have faith in Bioware to make good characters. They always do and the writers are some of the only video game writers who take what they do seriously. That being said, I am skeptical about how they'll make a guy like James Vega a deep and emotionally involved character so I came up with something that will make him a memorable and engaging personality:
A) Make him Latino. Anyone remember how bad F.E.A.R. 2's writing sucked? Anyone remember the one Latino guy in the squad. He kind of looked like a jack ass to start as well, but he came through as a fun and witty character, despite being pretty unimportant.
Make him crazy. Every character suddenly becomes smarter, more interesting, and more entertaining when they're touched. James Vega would be no exception. And any kind of crazy will do. He could be the kind of crazy that just has mild eccentricites, such as loving explosives or peeing in the direction of a Reaper chasing you down. Or he could be ****ing nuts. You're imagination could take that one.
C) Make him really, really effeminate. That would be hilarious. Imagine that guy talking with a nasally, sassy Boy's Town voice. Vintage!
D) All of the Above, because what's better than an effeminate, coked-out Puerto Rican?

But whatever Bioware chooses, I'm sure he'll be gold. I thought from the look of him Fenris would suck too. But he turned out to be a chill... well I hated him. But in a good way. I loved him as a character, but hated him on a personal level. And that's what Bioware's writing team is good at. Making characters personable and relatable.

Oddly enough, the male Liaramancer. Weird, I know. He's the one I "care" the most about, anyway. *shrugs*

I am excited for any potentially new party members. One of the best things about a new game is learning stuff you did not know before. As much as I did not really dig Jacob or Jack, it was nice to talk to them just as a new personality.
