I tried to compile information from all kinds of threads, but mostly people just state they have a problem and fail to mention what system or patch they are running, what edition of Dragon Age: Origins they have, etc. So it's hard to figure out specifically what the problem is. I've tried deleting game data, and everything under the sun that has been found to work for this problem. So far NOTHING has worked.
I have the Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate
Edition, I installed all the DLC before I played (as
someone thought this factored into the Darkspawn kill count, just
a speculation obviously). I've had multiple playthroughs so
I know that my main character has gotten killing blows on
over 1,000 Darkspawn just by doing the story, and if that wasn't
enough I've spent two hours running solo runs farming Darkspawn.
Master Warden has yet to pop. I'm sick of wasting my time on this
trophy, and quite frankly I've lost my will to platinum anything
now for worry that a game is glitched and I won't get a trophy.
This is a big concern for me before I play Mass Effect 2, as no
one is above making the same mistake twice.
The thing that makes this so puzzling and ridiculous is that this "glitch" has been in the game for years, I remember getting the Ultimate Edition back in January, and someone warned me about it. I brushed it off (stupid me) and said Bioware would surely take care of it ASAP. When I started playing Draogn Age again these past few weeks it
never even crossed my mind until I was scrolling through my trophies, and I saw that these two were missing. I've been basically going through trial and error, testing the game to see what works and what doesn't. Playing without the patch and DLC, etc.Nothing has earned me this trophy. I should not be testing a video game, I should be playing it. It's very disheartening to work weeks towards a platinum than find out it's unreachable for you. If you call PS3 technical support they will either state it's out of their hands, and on rare occasions mention deleting the game
data.
Bioware, what is the problem? Why has this problem
not been fixed or acknowledged for more than a year? I have no
problem that a mistake was made, but it has been ignored. I've seen
so many posts trying to figure this achievement out, the requirements
and workaround for the glitch, but those kind of things are not a
player's job. It's your job, Bioware. Can a moderator or, god forbid,
even a Bioware team member tell me exactly what the requirements are
and how I can get them for Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate
Edition for PS3?
And I know I'll get flamed for saying this,
but I'm done with Bioware games after this trophy. I had nothing
but the utmost respect for Bioware as a company, and I had no
problem with them. I even stuck my neck out for Dragon Age II.
I loved Bioware, but this experience has been beyond
frustrating. And it's only over a stupid trophy, but that's just the
thing: could they not fix a simple trophy glitch, or at least
comment on it?
Anyone who could discuss this and try and
suggest anything new to try, please throw something my way. I'm on my
last leg here.
Edit: The format was wonky, and I can't spell. :< Aaaaand it seems the format is still messed up. I'll just leave that mess alone.
Edit 2: TROPHIES OBTAINED. Ironically (but not surprsingly, for me) a few minutes after my post I obtained the Master Warden Trophy. I waited to come back to the forum to see if Blight-Queller would also pop, and it did. Here are the deets:
Playing on a Slim PS3 with Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition. Deleted all game data (including DLC) and then reinstalled it all. Played OFFLINE.
For a PS3, go to Settings ---> Network Settings ---> Internet Connction and select disable.
This is so the patches will not be installed, as they are required to play if you are online. To check your patch go to game data and select the one that says "Dragon Age: Origins". The version should be - and not 1.01 or anything of the sort. I did this all in one run, meaning I did not turn off my PS3 and load it again. I got 1,000 kills in one go. The area I did this in is in Awakening when you choose to defend the keep. At the very start of the battle go to the gate and do not kill the yellow archer. Let him be (turning it to Hard or Nightmare will ensure the soldiers with you kill it slower), and there will be infinite Dark Spawn coming from the gate as long as the elite stays alive. I loaded sometimes, but other times the game auto-saved itself although I don't think this matters as I got Master Warden after loading (I believe, but once again I wasn't keeping notes this time). So I did get this achievement with all DLC installed. The only thing I got rid of is the patch. I'm sure this time I got the kills because I did not quit, so perhaps this is why the trophy is elusive for players who do not play for a long time.
I hope this information helps anyone attempting this trophy, or Bioware to fix the problem.
