Ouch, saying I have an elaborate persecution fantasy wounds me to my core good sir.

All I'm saying is that the fans (if you can call their vitriolic hatred of Mark Meer and Male Shepard fandom) of Fem Shep have been outspoken in their desire to see her represented on the cover of the game and in commercials for the game.

They get their wish and then what happens. Some of the fans of Fem Shep don't like the color of her hair and request yet another toggle and are outraged that their specific choice didn't win. It's even more silly when you realize that the option was voted on in a landslide poll http://social.biowar...31/polls/22498/ yet people have the temerity to sit there and be angry about public opinion winning.

As to your other point yes of course there will be mods to change her hair color to brown or black or even purple. People will always do that regardless of what Bioware puts in the game. I don't wish any of you to be punished. Your own fandom is already doing enough of that by itself.

Rofl, you knew who I was talking about, eh? :D

You do have a persecution fantasy though, look at the bit I bolded. Sorry mate, most people who like FemShep aren't remotely like that, and when you're saying things like that and using hilarious phrases like "your ilk", you're basically mentally wanking yourself off to this idea that some horde of angry evil people is "out to get you".

As for people getting what they wanted, I don't think anyone much wanted a poll. What they wanted wanted was for BW to come up with a cool, unique FemShep design and say "Here, isn't this cool?". I think BioWare dictating the default design, like with ManShep (whose design I love, btw), would have been much better received that this. I mean, if we did this with ManShep, it'd be hilarious, because I bet you someone who looks nothing like Mark Vanderloo, and way, way, way more like James Vega would have won (indeed I, perhaps unfairly, suspect Vega is the result of testing what shooter fans like in a character).

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask BW to allow the toggling of hair colours on the default-face FemShep. The face (basically Winona Ryder in a bad mood) isn't bad, and a lot of people (not me, I suspect), will use it. By letting people use it without mods, BW ensure a more stable game experience.

EDIT - Note that people would ask for this on ManShep - IF HE HAD ANY HAIR lol!

I don't feel anyone is out to get me. I'm merely pointing out the trends on this board. Also I never realised having good grammar equated to having persecution fantasies.

I'm merely stating that it is utterly insane for people to think that their opinion should count above the public opinion. Each opinion is worth the same. I'm not against people requesting things. I am however very much against people demanding things especially when they feel like their ideas are better than everyone elses.

So feel free to ask for whatever you want. Also please do not resort to personal attacks. =

My girlfriend is blonge and I wuv her. It's really not blonde hate... it's all the feeling behind the blondiness. It's just too Hollywood, "and the Barbie Shepard saves the Galaxy once again!"

Edit: If there was even a way to change the default hair color in the CC, wow! I'd be game. Because I like the hairstyle, I just think she's too blond... even if was a darker color I'd like it.

My mother is a real platinum blonde (unlike yours, I'm sure), and I'm blonde-ish, so this isn't blonde-hate, dude, this is people wanting to be able to vary a hair-colour on the model they LIKE.

I mean this is what a lot of the haters in this thread don't get - people who want to be able to change the hair-colour LIKE THE MODEL. Otherwise they'd just be saying "dump the model", but they're not.

Insulting someone's mother, what is this 4chan?

Another request for a pointless toggle? How about a toggle toggle. or a toggle toggle toggle?
If blondie wins the votes, and you dont like it, dont buy the CE. Yes, it is that simple.

The popular vote is the vote of the people. The majority is the majority. End of line. I love this sentence on the Bsn  where I see everywhere, " the majority sucks, has no right, etc etc, the score fans are the true fans bla bla bla" Funny how people like this idea when it suits them, and it's going in their direction.

If you think a little, you would see that I am ready to resign myself to see a blonde shepard, since I try to offer something else in the same time for those who would not.
Have you not seen a proposal next ? You know it's constructive to offer something for those who would be unhappy.

This is a major change for default shepard, it is something important. It is obvious that people can afford to be worried. Do not you think?

I agree, but I'll point out Fem!Shep is already having an option Male!Shep was never given, this alone should be a reason to be happy... Do you think everyone likes Sheploo? I do somehow, but I heard many don't and no one bothered to ask whether the fans liked that face when the game first came out...

If we have to follow the make everyone happy route we'll have to listen to those who don't want Sheploo as their default too...

Shelpoo is present since the beginning of the game when you bought the game, it's his face you see. People who have complained, may have their reasons, but not justifiable, however.

I do not like Hawk, but he is the default character. I can complain, but I have no legitimacy to ask what is the change in the next episode.

Here, we change the character completely in the third episode. A transformation that can be hard if it's doesn't really sticky in our mind.

Then really, the custom will always be less beautiful than the default shepard very worked. If it were possible to play with, it would be cool.

Unless they announce that they're removing the ability to use custom Shepards, there's really nothing to complain about. It's an extra thing. I can understand that you've bonded with your Shepard, your character. But you have to understand that you are not the only one who plays Mass Effect. Leave the drama llama at home.

Lol at folks crying over what colours pixels should be. Why can't we discuss more important matters like the hilarious fact that you can play as a women who determines the fate of the galaxy.

But I do not want the old cliché rotten to ruin my  female hero.

But we already know Shepards character.   How is showing blonde hair colour making her suddenly cliche?

There a hundreds of blonde femsheps out there and each is equal in every way to all the other femsheps that also exist.

I havent anything against blondes. I have blond characters. But Shepard is too blonde, it's too Holliwood film where you see the same kind of woman. It spoils my view. ( no offense, that's jut my view )

If it ispossible to have a choice, it would be really cool. Because the transformation is really brutal.

There aren't many blonde characters as it is, you know. So this might be a good thing. There isn't any blonde characters on your Normandy team for one. I wish they would have made Miranda blonde, atleast.

Going by the pictures of Shepard BW are putting out, yes, yes it is 4chan.

Sparda Stonerule - That's not what people are complaining about, though, it's a fantasy of yours that they are. People aren't complaining because they lost the vote, they're complaining because there was a vote at all.

Also, "your ilk" isn't good grammar, it's intentional use of unusual language.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a big hit game breaking common stereotypes (namely, that blondes are retarded)

My canon femshep is a blonde. To echo what someone else said, unless they take away the option to import your femshep, what they use in the marketing doesn't really matter.

I have a problem, I say. You got a problem with that ?

I propose an alternative, it means what ? If you are thinking just two seconds, it means that I am aware that others are playing Mass Effect and like the blonde shepard. But necessairly all eh.

So I think those like me who are not necessarily in total agreement. And who would rather have the option of something else if it is possible.

Im im glad its just your view, because of the comments in this thread it seems you are in the minority im afraid.

There is something called a Character Creator and thats your choice if you want to change Shepards appearance.

As it happens Bioware need one femshep image for the CE and the trailer.   As Commander Shepard can be played by everyone and represents any player of age or gender then finding a consensus is best.  You cant please everyone, but you can please a lot of people by finding out which is most popular.

Anyway like I said its only a representation just like Sheploo is.  He may not be your Shepard but hes Biowares.  Much like what they are doing now.

Bioware does not "force" you to watch any trailers with blond femshep or not.

Bioware does not "force" you to play any specific type of shep blond or not.

What the hell is the problem?

So what would this proposed toggle be used for, the collector's edition tin?  A trailer?  The default femshep appearance?  Maybe you need to clarify what you want, as right now I'm just getting a huge "FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS" vibe from this post.

Yes "minority."

Women were a minority for Mass effect, so they should be satisfied with not having options for femshep. They can not ask.

You can not please everyone, I know. And if she is blonde, she is blonde. But I still have the right and opportunity to express my dissatisfaction for a possible change I didn't ask. Above all, ask to add a little option if possible.

I do not care of the trailer and advertising, I mean the game If I have the opportunity to play default shepard, with the possibility to choose the hair color, it would be cool. And yes, it's my view, for blonde shepard.

I'm just glad that female Shepard is finally being featured in the media and marketing. I honestly don't care what her hair colour is shown as.

Think of the racial implications if Miranda, the "perfect woman," were blonde.  I know this isn't what you were aiming for, but it's already telling that the "perfect woman" is white.  I'm not accusing Bioware of overt racism or anything, and it isn't my intent to derail this thread.  I just think there are cultural implications at work in such a suggestion, whether conscious or not, that it is helpful to be aware of.  I'm happy with Miranda as a brunette.

Unless this is actually an argument about the (absurd) idea that the BW team are suddenly going to make Shep look like a playboy bunny, which would be utterly crap, then I don't understand why people are using the phrase "too Hollywood". There are plenty of brunettes in Hollywood, if you haven't forgotten; Kate Beckinsale, Eva Longoria, Sandra Bullock, Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman... I could go on. Being blonde doesn't automatically make it sh*t.

If you don't like the blonde, presumably you'll be able to change it when you start your game, so it's really not that big of a deal.
