I bought DA:O before it was released. I'd like my Edge dagger too, please...

I just got this in my e-mail inbox:

Those
who purchase Dragon Age™: Origins before November 30th will
automatically receive the in-game item, “The Edge”. The Edge is an
extremely sharp blade that is the pinnacle of Ferelden crafting. It
adds bonuses to damage, attack, and critical strike chance

I get that you want to sell more copies, and that I already got my preorder bonus item, but come on. Why should the louts who waited to read the reviews be rewarded with something I wasn't?

Don't we all get this if we have registered the game? We have 2 copies registered and neither of us has this item for download. Any ideas?

No, this is an incentive for individuals who have not bought the game yet. It may not be clear, but it is almost exactly like the pre-order items.

Eh, who cares. It's an incentive for people to buy the game sooner rather than later.

It's just a trivial ingame item, if it really bugs you spend 5 minutes in the toolset and create a duplicate item yourself.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere everyone gets it, so long as you registered before Nov. 30th. Some people who signed up before this offer was released got it and some didn't.

Seriously, there's no authentication check on The Edge. I downloaded, installed, and tested it just 30 minutes ago and it worked fine. I don't gave it on my list of registered in-game promotions, but my elf rogue friend is definitely using it.

You can also get The Wicked Oath and Mark of Vigilance!

I've not even gotten the email about this. It's possible that they are going to relase it gradually instead of giving everyone a chance to download it at the same time, which makes perfect sense. If everyone registered had a chance to download it at the same time, automatically or otherwise, it would be murder on their servers. It's the same with updates to things like Firefox. Not every owner of firefox gets the chance to download it at the same time...

Yeah, but if they're gonna send you the email then you go ingame and check out your available downloads since you're already registered and everything, and no dagger.  Kinda like the GOTY versions 6 months later for half the price with all the DLC included for free, really kills the purpose of pre-ordering.

Yes everyone gets it. I have a unknow in my game downloads on the soical site. So it should be anytime before it comes out.

So is it ok to use those downloaded extra items? Any issues? And if they are ok, where do you install them? thanks!

I've had an "unknown" since I first installed the game. I wonder if that's what it's been all along. I just assumed it was one of many glitches with the social site.

The file is 36 kilobytes. It's really, really small.

I haven't had any issues yet.  I installed all three of them and tested them in a few of my saved games.  They work just fine, both online and offline.

What game file do you put these in to install them?

How does this work for 360/PS3 gamers? I bought the CE edition of DA for my Xbox and I too would like these items. Would anyone be able to help me out, I haven't quite gotten the hang of this social site yet.

I just connected to XBOX Live (which is quite a hassle for me), and no Edge.

To install these addins you have to go to where Dragon Age saves it's content.

Vista: [User]/Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/AddIns

Extract the files into this folder and you should be golden. Sorry XP users, I haven't run an XP system in a long time and I don't remember how this would work in XP.

Or you can just use the updater like I explained in my previous post. It doesn't matter where you save the files.

Console users are out of luck until they get things fixed with those "Unknown Item" entries and whatnot.

Updater? Do you mean the launcher? I don't see an updater.

Installed with no errors here as well.
