Since we have two soldiers for players who kiled Ash but only one sentinel and nobody who uses biotics and combat abilities yet.

My money is on Jack as the vanguard and as far as the sentinel... probably the rumored mercenary companion, MIranda or... CASEY HUDSON HIMSELF. The latter would be epic.

I could see Jacob being the Vanguard and Miranda being the sentinel.

Worst case scenario for me is Miranda or Jacob returning depending on powers of your VS, so if you already have one Sentinel (Kaidan) you'll get Vanguard (Jacob) and Sentinel Miranda will return to squad having Soldier Ashley

Jack has the same implants an adept has. 
Jacob has soldier and biotic powers, he's a Vanguard.
When was he confirmed to not be a squadmate? I think you've been misinformed.

Jack would actually kind of work as a vanguard. She's experimental, so whatever the powers the devs need her to have can be handwaved pretty easily. Give her grunt-tier barriers, and you're basically good to go. It would certainly help deal with the whole gameplay and story segregation issue of her wiping out groups of enemies in cutscenes sitting in the back with a shotgun in actual gameplay.

Liara is no Vanguard and Kaidan is dead in most games. Just as we need a Soldier (Vega) for those games where Ashley is dead, we need a Sentinel for games where Kaidan is dead. Miranda would be the obvious choice of course.

No idea about the Vanguard  though. Jacob has *not* been confirmed as not being a squadmate, but most people think it likely he'll only join for a mission. I'd love to see him in for a longer presence, but I don't really expect it.

He wouldn't be full time member, but Wrex is definitely a vanguard. That would make it Jack, Jacob and Wrex. I know he's been confirmed to at least be a temporary squad member.

As for the sentinels, I can only think of Miranda and Kaidan.

... did anyone even like Jacob? Metric data shows that he's the least used and is the only party member in the series who's doesn't have a large fanbase. On the other hand, Jack is popular and Wrex is sadly confirmed to only be a temporary squadmate. Plus Jack was redesigned for this game while Mordin wasn't which is a GOOD sign as Garrus, Ash and Kaiden have some new armor.

Vega is confirmed to be a soldier and the replacement for Grunt. Ash is replacing Zaeed. Liara also looks like she'll be replacing Samara. Garrus fills the infiltraqtor slot adn we dont' need Kasumi as a second one. Tali is again our engineer so we don't need Mordin or Legion back.

As far as vanguards go, we have a few options. Thane, who's dying at the time of ME3, Jacob who nobody liked, Wrex who's confirmed to not return or Jack who's not as popular as Wrex but still liked by fans and isn't dying + she's been redeisnged. Odds are, she's back and the vigiante is the sentinel.

Prothy is DLC so he can be anything.

There have not been any confirmations on number of Character Slots, have there? (Besides the "less than ME 2" statement)

I would think we will see either Jack or Miranda back, since they can both be Love Interests, same with Jacob. If not, then I would expect at least sizable cameos and part-time squad duties.

I think vigilante women is Gillian who is a biotic, but she is presented more as an Adept than Vanguard or Sentinel.

We really have no idea just how many squad mates there will be, there could be as many as 8 or 10.

Vanguard - Jacob (if he lived), Wrex (unlikely to be full time) or Jack (she has Adept powers in ME2, but makes a passable Vanguard)
Sentinel - Kaidan and/or Miranda (although both could be dead)

If you got all five above characters killed, you deserve to play without those two slots.

If this Vigilante woman people are talking about is that one that was mentioned on imdb, then you should know that she's been removed from their list, most likely because it was a fake character someone added

This isn't ME1. The roles characters fulfill aren't bound by tech/combat/biotic classifications anymore.

Hopefully BW will still allow us to run squads best suited to our classes and play styles though....personally, my ranged Infiltrator doesn't have much use for Biotics, I found the largest majority of my gamestyle play in both ME1 & 2 left little room for the use of Biotics....Yet I note there are also a number of players on the Forum who find their best squaddies for their Sheps are Biotics...BW allowed us to focus on our preferred gaming style in ME1 & 2, I am hoping this trend conitnues into ME3.

No, just a bit fast conclusions. It was told that "Vega is about survivability", which is exact role of Grunt. And I don't recall seeing two pure tanks in BioWare games, at least recent ones.

The fact that he is stating it as a fact makes it a blatant lie. Also, the fact that Vega was seen using a Widow doesnt make me believe he will be pure "tank". Snipers are about survival as well at least IRL.
