"The lines between friend and foe are getting a little blurry from where I stand." Who will betray you in ME3?

I think Wrex may betray you again. He has no reason anymore to want the genophage to be cured. It would undo everything he's trying to accomplish with the krogan.

Tali is a good candidate too, especially if Daro'Xen rises into power. Quarians are supposed to be loyal, no matter how difficult.

EDI might be the traitor. She was still working for TIM even after the blocks restraining her were removed.

Well, I imagine that if you leave someone's species to burn, the squadmate in question wouldn't want to work with you anymore.

But I don't think aliens would be trouble. They're always pretty reasonable, even when the interests of their own species are at stake. The real trouble are going to be humans.

And they would betray you for something far, far less than the survival of their species. Prepare to be shot for siding with a wrong organization in your war against the Reapers. Or for using the Reaper tech against them. "Moral" stuff like that.

Casey Hudson brought up quite an interesting twist that will happen in Mass Effect 3 via the Comic Con Convention this weekend. I quote:

"...You want to know whether squadmates might leave you based on what you're doing in the game? So thats definitely apart of the storyline and its built-in partly through story and partly through your decisions. So without giving anything away, there are times in Mass Effect 3 where characters who are obviously very principled about certain things are looking at a decision that you're about to make and it could create a conflict, it could cause them to not support you anymore and it could cause you to get into mortal conflict with them where you might be forced to kill them. Similarly to things that we've done in previous games with Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 1, where we're putting you in a situation where you might be in conflict with someone who previously was a friend."

ME3 Live Friday July 22 Stream 30:25 - 31:26

So pretty much another Virmire Wrex situation is bound to happen with maybe not one, but multiple squadmates as the story progresses. Who do you think might get into conflict with Shepard? "Principled" characters hmmmm. Obviously it will be around conflicts already going on in the galaxy such as the Quarians and the Geth. [Tali or Legion turning on you?]
The genophage is another issue for example. A repeat argument with Wrex? Or will it be Mordin on the receiving end? With so many squadmates, the possibilities are endless. Im interested in what you all have to say about this.

Call me crazy but even though Tali is loyal to Sheppard I can see how Bioware would be able to throw a curveball with her.

Also Jacob. He left the alliance for cerberus because the alliance was just sitting around in his opinion. If somebody finds a way to convince him that Sheppard has a crappy plan then Jacob is a man who will act upon these feelings.

When I was playing through DA:O on my Dwarven Noble Warrior Warden, I wanted to unlock the Reaver specialization. So I poured the dragon's blood into the urn of Andraste's ashes. Wynne and Leiliana were in my party and not happy one bit with my actions. They left me and I had to kill them. Poor Wynne even got one of those scripted kill events where the Warden cut her head clean off.

I am in favor of a system where choices matter. Having said that, though, with my Reaver specialization unlocked, I reloaded an earlier save and did not defile the ashes :P

Kaiden or Ashley would only turn traitor if you somehow aligned yourself with the Reapers and Cerberus.

1. Align.... with the Reapers.... as Grunt would say, "Ha!"

2. Ok, I can see how the VS would turn if you sided with Cerberus, but considering that Cerberus is now a major enemy, that's sorta looking less and less likely that you'll be able to side them in ME3.

3. Judging from their little spat on Horizon and how much of a "loyal" Alliance soldier that they claim to be over Shepard, I could see the VS turning against you if your decision's were detrimental to the Alliance while favoring other alien races.

Heh. Tali's gonna get killed by my Sheps because they're siding with the Geth.

Hope you can do the same to Liara by siding against the Asari. Though with Liara's Shepard obsession that doesn't seem likely.

The Judas won't be a killable character, it wouldn't make any sence.
And of course they done it already in 3 games, maybe even more, can't remember. So why do it again?

I want ME3 to be exciting and new and not a collection of old ideas they already used.
It's like Virmire 2.0, very lame in my eyes.

I hope eveyone understands that this tweet is not about *betrayal*, it's about in-game decisions which could ****** someone off. But idea of sane squadmate trying to kill Shepard makes laugh. Shepard is deadliest son of the b**c in the Galaxy after Newton and squadmates know that better than anyone else.

I'll sing Bruno Mars' Grenade to Tali if she betrays me. If that doesn't win her over I guess I still have Ashley. lol

i guess zaeed can betray u if u saved vido, (or maby not maby he got diffrent toughts if u convinced him to work as a team in me2) maby kasumi betray you becuse u deleted her graybox, or jacob betrays you becuse he dont want you to stop the illusive man or it can also be grunt that think wrex methods are to soft, or tali who dont agree with legions plan or the other way around.. still seems a little bit strange to me, if their all loyal in me2 why would they betray shepard, hes the biggest badass in the galaxy and they worked as a team and got to hell together in the collector base =-| my shepard saved all of their asses so they just going to say after that shepard i dont like you anymore you must die

Artificial life can be restored with some scrap metal and a floppy disk. Hell, we've already seen that destroyed, completely inert geth shrapnel can be rebuilt and reactivated with apparently not much effort.

Isn't she dead in most of Renegade playthroughs? I mean it wasn't smartest move to tell Shepard "I'll hunt you down" before loyalty mission.

Bring it on! I hope Ashley shoots another bug-eyed alien (Liara). I hope I get to let Shepard shoot Liara personally. I hope Samara takes out Liara. I hope Jacob rises from the dead and eats Liara's brains. I hope Kaidan becomes an AI (being atomized and all) and haunts the Shadow Broker's systems.

Apart from that, I don't think my canon Shepard will have any obvious traitors. He hopes for quarian/geth peace, Mordin kept the cure, and Miranda resigned from Cerberus. He's Wrex's best bud, Grunt's battle master, Jack's LI, Ashley's ex, Tali's hero, Mordin's soul, Legion's Shepard-Commander, Thane's concience, Samara's oath and can headshot better than Garrus.

Possible traitors:
Legion- turns out he was just a Geth spy.
Miranda- she still works for the Illusive Man, and he gets really angry with Shep when he/she doesn't keep the Collector's ship.
Wrex- it's pretty obvious. He's too proud to let anything slide. If something doesn't fit him, he pulls out his gun.

Unlikely to betray:
Ash- even though her romance with Shep might be over, and she might even hate him, she knows that they want the same thing. I mean, she's ready to murder with cold blood just to save Shepard (cough Wrex cough).
Kaidan- same as Ash
Tali- she's just too loyal and friendly. Worst case scenario- she'll leave the Normandy.
Garrus- even though he's cold and since ME2, pretty damn violent, he's a very sentimental and friendly guy deep inside. He stays with Shep no matter how dire the situation is.

Tali seems the obvious choice. Choosing the Geth over her people isn't likely to keep her friendly.

If it comes down to Tali vs Legion, sorry Tali, I really like you... but I'mma have to go with Legion. Firstly because I think the geth were wronged, and secondly because he's just so damn cute and he doesn't even know it.

So yeah, probably there will be some geth vs quarians. Maybe Samara against a renegade Shep also. It's going to be very exciting to see what Bioware come up with. :)

It'd be heart wrenching if it was Garrus D:
