One person that has the greatest possibility of betraying you in ME3 is Ashley, think about it people, go back to all the conversations you had with her in the first game alot of her beliefs have CERBERUS LOYALIST stamped all over it, all of that "humans need to look out for themselves" crap. I could see the Illusive Man convincing her to join him if she feels as though Sheperd is to commited to the well being of Mass Effect's Alien Species and or not taking the opportunity to further humanities dominance in the galaxy.

Even though she chewed you out on Horizon for joining Cerebus and had a chance to join up with you... the TIM must be quite charming if he convinced her and Shepard couldn't...

I don't think there will be a betrayal so much as differences of opinions and strong feelings that interfere with your overall goal. And that may lead to unavoidable problems.

I believe Conrad Verner has the greatest chance of betraying you, even if you were nice to him like I was. Becuase in ME2 when Shep returned he sounded bummed because you were back and he felt like he was no longer needed. The Illusive man may promise him that he will be a big hero if he tries to kill Shep. Plus his wife is probably made up. Who supports someone in getting their head shot off?

I think it's more like if they feel like you betrayed them then you'll have to kill them to keep them from killing you. Similar to a Wrex situation in ME1. Dragon Age: Origins made situations like this for almost every character.

Although she probably won't be a squadmate, it seems logical to me that Samara would try to kill Shepard if (s)he makes a decision that conflicts with her morals.

Considering how my playthrough of both Mass Effects went I can't think of anyone from my team that might betray me. Ashley is devoted to the Alliance so she wouldn't jeopardize my mission to save them. Liara wouldn't betray me considering all she went through to bring me back. Wrex is actually grateful later on about how Virmire went, it helped him unify the clans. I've explained to the Quarians and Tali how foolish a war is and according to Legion the Geth are open to peace. Jacob isn't particularly devoted to Cerberus and Miranda told TIM personally that she resigned. Since I'm a paragon Samara has no reason to betray me since she and I have similar morals. Jack's just Jack so I'm sure she'll be alright with any decisions I'll make.

Casey Hudson brought up quite an interesting twist that will happen in Mass Effect 3 via the Comic Con Convention this weekend. I quote:

"...You want to know whether squadmates might leave you based on what you're doing in the game? So thats definitely apart of the storyline and its built-in partly through story and partly through your decisions. So without giving anything away, there are times in Mass Effect 3 where characters who are obviously very principled about certain things are looking at a decision that you're about to make and it could create a conflict, it could cause them to not support you anymore and it could cause you to get into mortal conflict with them where you might be forced to kill them. Similarly to things that we've done in previous games with Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 1, where we're putting you in a situation where you might be in conflict with someone who previously was a friend."

How very interesting...I LOVE it...:wizard:... My bets are both paragon and renegade are going to have problems here....some guesses:

Species:

Quarian vs Geth....Shep is forced to take a side....the unchosen side turns on him.

Krogan vs Turian or Rachni....Same as above.

If there are choices like you can either aid Palevan or Kajhe:

Choose Kajhe...Garrus turns on Shep

Choose Palevan...Thane turns on Shep

Turn on Paragon:

Grunt...Paragons a wuss in Grunts view.

Jack...Same as Grunt.

Zaeed....Paragon is the reason Vido's still alive.

Miranda....May feel ends justify the means.

Liara...Seems to be getting darker, may feel ends justify the means.

Turn on Renegade:

Samara...Obvious

Jacob...His a good guy, wouldn't agree with renegades choices.

Thane....Wouldn't agree with renegade choices.

Tali...Never gotten over being exiled....blames Shep.

Ash....Moral issues.

Kaidan....Same as Jacob.

Neutrals:

Mordin, Kasumi, Legion, Wrex and Garrus....they would need another motivation other than Sheps alignment.

I honestly cannot see Garrus ever betraying Shepard. Not saying it's impossible but not only is Shep Garrus' best friend and mentor, but he responds positively to Renegade Actions. What could honestly make Garrus pull a gun on Shepard, ever?

An ignorant opinion. Jack would more than likely be close friends or the LI of a paragon Shepard. Jack would have more cause if your Shepard sided with Cerberus than with your Shepard's 'alignment.'

I gave my thoughts...you gave yours...since when is being rude necessary?

Jack would tear Shep apart if he willingly tried to stay with Cerberus and I wouldn't blame her....I in fact am very much on Jacks side, I fully support her...Cerberus has a hell of a lot to answer for....My opinion above...(Jack turning on Paragon) has nothing to do with Cerberus, just purely I personally think Jack would see paragon Shep as way too soft and not up to the task.

Wrex,Samara,Tali and Legion are the best candidates for that if you ask me,but nobody is really excluded. Every characters seems to have some important priniciples and they all seem willing to fight for it.
I know one character that I definitely won' t get into conflict with - Garrus,we think exactly the same way from what I saw in previous two games.

Jack - Miranda would definitely be a possible conflict, considering Cerberus turns on you. Miranda may try to justify their actions and Jack will try to get Shepard to break any loyalties with them.

Rude? Was I saying you are ignorant? No. I merely pointed out that you weren't including all the facts around a paragon Shepard vs. Jack relationship (please note, I don't limit it to a Shepard vs. Jack LI).

Okay, would "An uninformed/superficial opinion." have been a better choice of words?

As Casey said, you MIGHT be forced to kill anyone in a conflict or you can just paragon/renegade persuade them on to your side. Ultimately killing Wrex was a numbers game. You could certainly roll play it any way you chose to, but (as long as you had the paragon or renegade points) there was a safety net there. I can't imagine ME3 being any different.

This. I'm more curious as to who wouldn't betray Shepard, depending on the circumstances. Garrus doesn't seem to have strong ties to anything minus Shepard; even if Shepard nuked Palaven and his family, I can see Garrus reluctantly accepting that it had to be done. But who else would fall into this category?

Wrong. Jack is a busted toy who plans to continue being a serial killer after the SM. A Paragon would do everything to stop her. A LI would do everything except kill her. Either way she's obviously someone who won't stop for anyone and fanboys need to accept she's likely to betray you whether you destroyed or kept the base.

I'd be surprised if BW didn't make you choose between the Geth and Quarians in ME3, so a Legion/Tali showdown is almost inevitable.

C'mon, liara having a mental breakdown after learning you slept with someone else as a love interest and with jack in me2 and then a cheeky shag in me3 with shiala and another love interest!

I could easily imagine an Alliance Cerberus face off so Miranda/Jacob vs Ashley/Vega and the people you don't pick end up hostile. As people have said the obvious one would be Tali vs. Legion over the fate of the geth and the Migrant Fleet. I could also imagine Mordin vs. Wrex over the genophage although hopefully if you save the genophage cure that will not be a problem.

Of course as they are the most obvious ones I'm sure Bioware will come up with something else how about....Samara vs either Jack or Thane as Samara is presumbly no longer sworn to you.

I think Jacob would be the biggest suspect on my list Samara did say what happens to him will turn him into a great man or a man to be feared so.

Next Miranda I've been waiting sense 2 for her to not only stab me in the back but more then likely hack my cybernetics to force me to do things I'd truly rather not before she killed me. She's so like that.

Zeed and Kasumi for money

If Garrus goes Saren then he might and I'd be devastated.

Grunt will fight me at the end of 3 if he lives anyhow he did promise me he would if he found a clan and ran out of enemies so I take him at his word on this but to him I know it's nothing personal it's a krogan thing.

I'm starting to think Hackett and I would be upset if this happened but the way arrival and other past missions with him worked out I could see it going that way.

David sure we saved him but he's messed up.

Veetor he could've gotten brainwashed as some point during 3.

A hacked Legion could do it.

ughh i hope i dont have to kill anyone, i hated virmire thats the only time i ever let someone die...poor kaidan, i hope there is a way (that would be really hard but achievable) that you wont have anyone betray you
