I heartily disagree. Combat in DA2 is so much better. (imho? Oh, wait, no. We're stating facts.)
Combat in DA2 is a huge, HUGE step forward from slo-mo, waaaait combat in DAO.
The thing that probably turned away most self-declared hardcore gamers is the over-abudance of choices. People get intimidated by how many quests are hurled at them at the beginning of the respective acts.
Also, the story isn't your standard hero saves the world, sadly it's not a well done by-stander gets dragged into things story. Act 2 is by far superior towards the other acts, as things really come together there. Act 3, well... It's lacking, in story.
For me, DA2 is still way superior over Witcher 2. Witcher 2 combined annoying (shooter?) controls with a forced-down-my-throat story, dialog in there was really meh. Biggest disappointment since it tried to fill Witcher 1 shoes. Heck, by comparison, DA2 is nearly spot on with DA:O.
Now to your opinions, you're certainly entitled to them. But Witcher 2 was better than Witcher 1 by a stretch (despite the controls and story according to you, again, opinion not fact and this isn't the thread for that). And DA2 was the reverse. It doesn't even come close to it's predecessor (details, one well told story vs three disjointed ones--which could have been epic in their own rights, descriptions of items intead of "ring," periods of blacksouts for Hawke, the non-illusion of choice, reused dungeons, city dead, etc). It may have had more enjoyable combat for some (speed in between DAO and DA2 would rock, and the waves of paratrooping ninjas need to go by e-bye).
Did you like the game better than DAO? Appears so, good on you. Did you not like Witcher 2 better than Witcher 1? Apparently not, for which I am sorry, it sucks to not the like the sequel more, I know how that feels.
