^ same here. Not that I want to see pRon but since this should be a game for more mature players and they are showing exploding bodies with blood gushing out. So why not. Again see TW2 for reference.

Easy.

Take what you did with Legacy, and apply the principles to the next game in its entirety.

Quite a few of the suggestions posted I agree with so my only suggestion would be - don't change for changes sake.

I can understand an overhaul for a game that didn't do well in either sales or reviews, but from what I've seen and heard DA:O was anything but a failure on either front. Sure, Origins needed some tweaking, but to be almost rebuilt from the ground up seemed a bit... extreme.

Oh, and the marketing could perhaps be toned down a bit, less - 300 THIS IS SPARTA!!!! And perhaps more of the line that made me at least if not others really excited about Origins and the universe/lore in the first place: Spiritual successor to BG2.

Sometimes I wonder if Bioware ever get tired of mentions about BG2 and the inevitable Minsc quotes that soon follow.....

I would like to add my support for a one handed sword/no shield spec, I have been hoping for one of these specs for a long time.
I would also like to add an armor system like Mass Effect 2 where you buy armor pieces but insted of stats you put runes into the armor to upgrade it.
And bring back crossbow please =)

That is all I have right now =)

It wasn't 100% nudity but they at least got down to their underwear. What I am really referring to those is they go back to doing sex scenes like this:

If we can show depressed people hanging themselves, and murder and slaughter, the game is already rated M we can have some decent feel-good romantic sex.

Do a 180, BioWare. Look at DAO, see how popular and successful it was? Take what didn't work, fix it. Make what was meh better, and keep what made it great and successful. See DA2? Take what worked from it, and combine that with what worked from DAO and was great about it. But most important, go back the way you came, and start from there.

1. keep the voiced protaganist it makes the conversations seem natural and less your companion speaking to themselves but add more dialouge options.

2. get rid of the "sex scenes" or make them less awkward.

3. allow customizion of companion armor

4. have characters age atleast a little... or give us a magical plot device to keep them from aging like normal folk*see Fable 2 and 3 with it's Hero bloodline*

5. allow us to pick our races and add more like goblins or orcs.

6. make it where our character can change the plot with they're choices.

7. bring back Arcane Warrior and Battle Mage classes

8. let warriors dual wield and equip bows

9. a plot that makes sense

Forget DA2 ever existed. Bring back Origins and evolve from there. Forget ME libraries. If any, use "libraries" like that of the Circle Tower... one of the best sidequests ever... summoning sciences.. heh...

Bring back stuff with the same spirit of the secret dragon in Orzammar throne, the polymorphing of the fade (playing Mouse/Burning Skellie/Golem/Lich was a hell of a fun time), the badazz character that might cut the throats of some annoying NPC.. or just stick a knife in their back-necks...

Make two handed swords look like two handed swords and not some megalomaniac plastic toy from some weird devs dream... or trip...

Ultimately, just a wishful thinking, give us jump/climb/swimm/sleep/rest/eat/ and a craft system designed for players older than 13, although they are the bulk of the "audience" that plays DA2... Bring back the game for the adult audience!

1. Lower cooldown times and give us more active abilities. Fast paced combat is fine but when you can't use the tactics at your disposal, the game just feels like a mashfest and if I can't throw or jump, it makes what should be a chatic yet tactical game feel boring.

2. Keep all DA2 abilities. If one of them is broken, buff or nerf it. DA2 didn't have enough abilities available to players and could benefit from making the weapon trees larger.

3. Let players know what's going on after an hour or two. Players like having a plot to follow. the characters were good but they were involved in a disjointed story. A good narrative makes everything better. Not three stories in one game. Save anything that doesn't have to do with the main plot for DLC.

4. Bring back backstabs. Rogues should still rely on positioning and do additional damage for attacking from behind.

5. Bring back dual wielding for warriors and allow there to be a one-sword/no shield weapon tree.

5. Don't give us fetch quests with no story. I'd rather have a shorter game with less to do than perform pointless tasks for XP.

6. Give us a new protagonist. Dragon Age isn't about Hawke. It's about the Thedas.

7. Get rid fo the dialog wheel, or at least give us a laconic option. Having only three thigns to say with three very different personalities seems to take away from my choice as a player and forces me into one role at the beginning of the game.

8. Don't redo the graphics engine. It wasted too much dev time when making DA2.

9. Give us more item sets with set bonuses. They're worth it. Also, bring back item descriptions and give us stats instead of stars.

I agree with all your points, very well put especially the disjointed plot, i have a few more to add

1. Give us a world we want to save, Origins was so rich and filled with different characters and experiences, Kirkwall was bland and boring, it feels way to clean, even Lowtown, if we only have one city it has to be lush and filled to the brim with character and life.

2. Bring back finishers.

3. Give us a more mature experience (for a lack of a better word) something that is more imediate and ambiguous and evolving, something that suprises us.

1) Open up the world.... For example I hate being in the wounded coast and if I make five step to the side I hit invisible walls. If there is a hill between point A and B I want to be able to cross the hill and not around it. I'm not asking to make it like Oblivion but something in the scope of NWN2.

2) I liked the art of DA2 compared to DA:O. But make it a bit more painted and had some color and variety(sp?) to the environment. Have different atmosphere for different part of the World make it living not some cart boxes wall paint.

3) No repeatable areas....

4) Toolset is a must RPG players are some of the most creative people out there and it is NICE and add value to the game if the community can thinker with it. Just look at NWN 1 & 2 and the phoenix armor for DA:0 is a prime example.

5) I want to be able to TALK to my companion(sp?) any time I want. I mean back in DA: O. I liked to talk to alistair, sten and shale endlessly. in DA2 i think we would have been more attached to the companions if we had been able to do just that.

6) I want to be able to dress my companions again what was the point of having all that loot only for Hawke?

7) I want a free slot for my Mabari... or a Griffon ;)

8) Bring the dual weilding warrior.. a warrior should be able to use any weapons at hand -_-. Please LOOSE the meat cleavers rogue weapon, who stab people with cleavers? the Butcher class? Bring shapeshifter back. And I want my warrior to wear her longsword at her waist.

9) I want to visit Clarke... really I do >.>

1. Slow down combat, and dump the 'awesome button' animations. Especially for rogues; s/he shouldn't look like a damned cricket, jumping around the battlefield and teleporting whenever the 'backstab' action is used. Tactics and party placement should matter more than button mashing.

2. Stop with the waves and staged boss fights. Please. There's nothing more boring than waiting for waves of enemies to stop before I can leave an area, or for bosses to get back from their coffee break while the party fights 'where the hell were they a minute ago' minions. I would like to finish the fight the party is currently engaged in to get back to the story, not to get back to more fighting.

3. Please keep the accessible romances. I enjoyed having choices that were responsive to the PC regardless of sex; I, the player, wasn't penalized for choosing a PC whose sex didn't fit a limited set of anticipated pairings. Also, I enjoyed seeing Hawke be able to flirt but be rejected by NPCs and companions; that should happen to otherwise uber PCs more often, IMO, if there are going to be romance options.

4. A limited scope in the story (Kirkwall) was just as good as the wider scope (Ferelden), though I think I'm in the minority on this. Taken on its own merits, Kirkwall had a decent larger arc and sub plots, and I think it could have been really good - if there had been the chance to meaningfully affect events. Against the Blight, one Warden wasn't going to be able to shift that much one way or another, but a Champion should be able to affect events in one small city to a fair extent, especially if s/he ends up plot-tied to so many powerful NPCs. If canon events are necessary, maybe there needs to be more narrative distance between them and the PC; if the PC regularly ends up interacting with catalysts of those events, it's very frustrating not to be able to affect the outcomes at all.

5. Please restore skill trees. I like being able to perform actions that aren't combat-related.

6. Figure out if you want to get rid of inventory, or to streamline its management. Finding items that were really just junk to sell, without interesting stories behind them or anything, was just tedious. If it's not going to be descriptive, and can only be sold for money, then why not just let the party find money? There has to be a better way to improve inventory management than creating a subset of items that are autoflagged as crap.

More development time - seriously, please take your time. You can notice the difference between the first and second game from a mile away. The first one had more lore, the characters and story were more complex, deeper and it overall left a far greater impression by the end.

Example: in the first game, you could talk to Leliana and listen to at least 5 stories which were quite enjoyable. Varric doesn't tell you squat.

Gotta agree that taking the time to deliver a well thought-out and well-crafted product is really what DA3 needs.
Specifics I would like:
1. Broader character creation. I don't need an "origin" storyline per se, but I want to be play as more than a human.
2. No Hawke or Warden as PC. I don't hate them, but I think this would remove my desire to play the game the quickest. I personally don't want a Fantasy Mass Effect.
3. More environments. I don't need a huge open world like the Elder Scrolls games, but more than one city and one coastline/cave would be great.
4. Better character interaction. So weird to have to ask for this in a Bioware game, but I really felt conversation was sorely lacking in DA2. It was hard to feel a connection to anyone, especially your family and your LI, when there was so few chances to just talk to them.
5. Loosen up the restrictions on class weaponry. I thought Origins had a fairly open weapon system which was really great, and I loved the weapon swap feature. I was surprised this was removed in DA2. I would like to have the option to play as a sword wielding mage, or have a warrior with a secondary crossbow.

1.
Better modeling please.

It's not nice to see people with heads and necks that dont match the color of their chestpiece. And necks that looks like they aint properly attached to the chest, sloppy work BW, do it better in DA3!

2.
3D should be 3D not 2D.

In a 3D environment you would expect you could move in a more realistic 3D way, right now the game is in 3D but you move in 2D, you cannot go up or down, like jumping on things, only way to explain this would be that the characters have electromagnetic shoes and the ground is magnetic.

3.
Relationships, I know some will say go play sims, but it's not the same as this game.:)

I would like to see this increased even further, optionally ofcourse, I know some of the younger playerbase dont care much for this. But how about if you could, if you wanted, get a girlfriend, move in with her and marry her, get kids with her and add some options to manage your family and its house(s) or castle(s) or whatever you want your toons to live in.

For DA3 Ditch everything from DA2 except voice for new main character. Import Warden and Champion and be allowed to re-allocate Champion attributes/skills etc to fit DAO gameplay. DO NOT put a level cap in place. Do this and I WILL buy DA3 and you will probably get trampled to death in the rush from all those who loved Origins. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just a few tweaks here and there.

Wow, I could talk about this all day.... but there are really only two things that I would like to see changed. First off, I want to equip my characters. All of them. And not with gear that is slaved to specific classes. One thing I loved in Origins was that you could do some unonventional things like put a mage in full plate armor. In general I just liked the fact that your supporting cast was more customizable. Want Morrigan to heal? It's do-able. Want Sten to tank? Done. Want Leliana to dual wield and Zevran to archer? Good on you.

Second is the specializations. In Origins, these were important decisions and it seemed that each specialization was built towards providing that character with a unique set of skills otherwise not available, while the specializations in DA2 just give you more of the same. All three of DA2's warrior specializations are just three ways to increase DPS. All three Rogue specializations are for dual-wield fighters. If you're an archer, you pretty much have to go out of your way to create situations where any of these are useful. The mage specializations were better, I would say, requiring you to think about what you're doing with your character and choose a path. Meanwhile, back in Origins, almost every specialization gives you something new. Reaver let a Warrior do AOE damage, Ranger let Rogues effectively increase the party size to 5 for battles, Arcane Warrior turns Mages into Warriors and Shapeshifting gives them a last-ditch, melee combat option. Overall, specializations just meant something in Origins while in DA2 I can just close my eyes and randomly click on one.

Oh ya, one other thing: I want Griffons! I just know those sneaky Grey Wardens have some hidden away somewhere.... >.> or at least a horse. Let's give our PCs a break and let them ride once in a while. :P

To me it actually made a lot of sense that the companions chose their own clothes. I kind of hope that stays.
It made them more "real" to me, gave them more character in a way. Of course, it was a bit disgusting that they never changed, but I like to think they at least changed underwear. (Not a problem for Isabella as I suspect she doesn`t wear any.)

However, we should be able to customize their stats more with more enchantment slots, with more varied enchantments being available.
As an example, I would`ve liked to put some constitution gems into Varric`s duster.
The amount of different enchantments was starting to reach an acceptable amount in DA:A, but more would be better.

The unique skill trees for the companions were also great, also made me feel more like the companion was it`s own person and a unique character, but the companions tree need to branch into two different sub trees at least.
Something like what Anders had, but deeper.
Another example; Aveline`s tree could`ve had one "tank-branch", and one "2h-branch".
Merril should`ve had an extra "healer-branch", maybe with a Heal Over Time spell and a unique buff or something similar.

I general, the talent trees in DA2 was a big improvement for me from DA:O, but it needs a bit more still.
The different trees need to interact even better with eachother.
I have some ideas but won`t bother you guys with that.

I know this contradicts the statement above, but warrior talents were pretty boring, sorry, and it`s a shame because warrior is my class :(
There should`ve been a couple more activated DPS talents, and the talents there was could be nerfed and have reduced cooldowns instead.
I know warriors have more armor and hp, but look at the vast amount of instant attacks a rogue can have.
Warrior of DA2 is like the solider of ME.

As many many many others have said, let us get to talk to our companions!
Aside from enemy waves and reused areas, the lack of interaction with my companions was my biggest dissapointment with DA2 by far.
First playthrough I was running around trying to talk to them thinking "No way, is this bugged, or is this really happening?!"

I want more lore, the lore is what made me fall in love with DA. Legacy ending is giving me high hopes in this regard for future DLC/expansion/DA3.

That`s it for now I guess.

I'd like to see the following:

EDIT: 0) MOST IMPORTANT - GET RID OF STAMINA/MANA COSTS FOR MAINTAINED ABILITIES.

This is a very boring and annoying mechanic, and most, if not all, of the most powerful builds in DA:O and DA2 involve cheesy ways of getting AROUND it, rather than working with it. It's making the whole game really hard to balance when some specs can have "infinite" mana or stamina whilst maintaining 90%-cost abilities, yet another spec has one fix stamina/mana bar and can only kick in maintained abilities safely as that goes down.

Instead I would suggest a "slot" system, where you could maintain X abilities based on your classMainStat - So maybe at 30 STR, as a Warrior you could maintain 3 slots of maintained abilities. Some abilities might cost multiple slots to maintain (maybe each slot is roughly equivalent to 15% mana or stamina)

Or you could use a secondary stat - like CON for Warriors, CUN for Rogues, WILL for Mages, or whatever, so people could choose to prioritise this or not.

If mana/stamina bars need to get a bit shorter, well, that's fine, I strongly advocate separating these out, so that it's no longer the case that the only good builds are the ones who constantly regen stamina or mana.

1) Equipping all the characters coming back. If characters have some specific piece of equipment they're attached to, fine, but let's not have it so the ONLY person whose equipment is relevant is the hero. Hell even choosing equipment but the look not changing, like this was a Final Fantasy game would be better than not choosing most.

2) Elves and Dwarves as PC options again please. I missed that much more than I thought I would in DA2. The DA universe has great elves and AWESOME dwarves, so don't stop them being PCs!

3) Get rid of all the vaguely-named really-small-effect jewellery and belts and so on, and look at AD&D 2nd Edition (or D&D 4E, for that matter) for how magic items should be. Not every item has to give a bonus, and I'd rather have a smaller number of more significant items than dozens of irrelevant ones. Even Diablo 2 did a better job on this than DA2!

It's not like there aren't some cool items in DA2 - there are tons - but they're drowned in a sea of dross and boring stuff.

4) Make each hit in combat be, by default, a little bigger as a portion of the enemy's health bar on higher difficulty settings. Really slow, grinding wear-down combat isn't fun or cool. At the same time, reduce the "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" factor from CCCs, because right now the difference between an non-CCC spell/ability and a CCC-one is UTTERLY BONKERS.

5) Give characters some clear dodge/block/parry animations! If they're in, I can't see them - I've never seen Aveline do any of those things, and you'd think I would have.

6) Tone down any effect which is on the entire party. On an individual, a flashy spell-effect like Rock Armour can be fine, but the giant bubbles from the group barrier spell look really silly. Only have them show in combat was a good start, but less extreme, please!

7) Arrows could stand to have a tiny arc to their trajectory, that than flying utterly straight.

8) Please veer AWAY from the World of Warcraft-style of weapons and armour. DA2 isn't anywhere near as bad as that, but it's on the way there, which isn't good. Move back to realism a bit - realism can look amazingly cool - just look at stuff like A Game of Thrones of inspiration.

9) Make the Darkspawn look scarier and filthier.

10) Add in some new weird monsters, give things a little more of that D&D bizarre-factor.

11) Otherwise, Legacy definitely showed BIG improvements, so keep on that path!

My suggestions:
1 - Please do NOT bring back Origins. Been there, done that. NO
2 - Definitely keep Hawke as protagonist. Keep him voiced as well.NO
3 - Keep the dialogue wheel, it works well.NO
4 - Keep current graphics engine, but make the necessary improvements to it.NO
5 - Dynamic Day/Night cycles OK
6 - No framed narrative, and no chopping up the game into chapters with time gaps.Meh
7 - Dog as proper upgradable companion as in OriginsNO
8 - Keep current class abilities but add some new moves add new moves get rid of the tree.
9 - Make the world seem more alive, particularly NPCs. Give people things to do instead of just standing around in the same place throughout the game.OK
10 - Do not make DLC free, this will no doubt result in poor quality content.NO
11 - Make a massive, awesome game with LOTS of achievements that require more effort to get.OK
