Well I downloaded The Arrival DLC a few days ago but didn't play it yet. Can you play it at any point in the game or once you beat the game? thanks

Anytime past Horizon you can go there. Some few changes depending on when you play, and I personally think after is best. There are some upgrades to be found if you look in the right places, but you really don't NEED them.

Yeah I DL'd it the other day but I'm going to wait until after I beat everything else since it apparently leads to ME3

play it any time you want but , the best thing you can do is wait until you beaten the suicide mission since the game lets you play as much as you want without actually finishing. It's the best ending alternative to Mass Effect 2 because it makes you want more and trust me , when that DLC came out , we , the fans , who played ME and ME2 countless times were ecstatic imagining how ME3 would be. Also because it ties the second game to the third very good. Events happening in ME3 are a direct result to the arrival DLC.
