I was wondering does your status have any effect in me3?  if you tell the council they can take the spectre status and shove it or go ahead and join back up with the spectres, would that have some effect in me3?

Quite in interesting thought. If you didn't play ME1 or the DLC that allowed you to save the Destiny Ascension, then I don't think your Spectre status was reinstated.

It didn't seem to effect Shep though as he just put the word "former" infront of it and went along his merry way. He did blow up a Mass Relay, and I'm assuming that no other Spectre's done that before. Usually rules are put in place because someone did them.

If you're not a spectre then either Ashley or Kaiden (who survived the Virmire Mission) will take over the lead as SpeCTRes (they became Spectre in ME3) and then Shepard will have to start following orders from Ash/Kaidan.

I doubt there is a situation where the VS is in charge...in special forces it is very common for experience>rank operationally anyway
Also...it didn't seem to make a bit of difference in ME2 so I can't see it in ME3,at this point Shepard can rely on his reputation.

I think it's honestly going to be one of those things where, no matter what you picked, the game is going to force it back on you. I mean, Shepard doesn't need to be a Spectre to do what Shepard does, but I just have a feeling that even if you told the Council/Anderson to shove it about your status, you're still going to be a Spectre regardless. They may even just do a "oopies" and forget that option ever existed, who knows?

^^this lets say you aren't a Spectre in ME3 the council sees the galaxy is burning and reinstates you anyway

I doubt it'll matter that much. With the galaxy crumbling I'm sure most ppl in ME3 will probably let Shep do whatever she wants regardless of spectre status. If not, well, diplomacy begins at the barrel of a gun.

I doubt it, like its been said, in this situation, what would a title matter, so there would be no reason to force it back on you. I cant see any benefit to being a Spectre, I doubt the Reapers are going to leave because Shepard is a Spectre.

Yeah, considering what will be going on, it may not matter all that much. The council and everyone else will have enough to worry about, as well as the other specters....

But, I'd still like to be a specter though. Or better yet, have other specters hunt me down, for past "crimes".

I kinda hope that it will have an effect on something, actually. It doesn't have to be huge or anything but it would be nice if there was a recognition of one's status at one or two points.

I'm hoping it will. If you're not a Spectre anymore than maybe it'll be tougher to get the Council to help than if you were or something. It may also be tougher to get the alien races to join forces with you. Other than that, I don't see it having a huge impact on your Alliance standing.

I think the status of spectre may be irrelevenet in an intergalatic war .... who exactly is going to arrest you anyway?

They are going to try shooting at you to stop you if they want to like every other person who anti your agenda, they wouldn't stop trying to shoot you if you were a spectre or not.

As for uniting the Alien Races with out spectre status.... "I'm commander shepard, I've killed reapers before" Should be enough.

I think that at most i will affect a bit the trial on earth and how the council greets you when meeting with them (if they survived), but once the reapers actually invade i don´t think it will matter anymore.

That makes a lot of sence.
