"Dispel/Not bypass resistance (1)"

@Ishad Nha - I've read they know it's a bug specifically because it's flagged as not being bypass resistant

@The Potty - Google is my friend, which is why I'd already found those sites, meaning I also read Spell Revision's latest Readme that says magic resistance does not affect the spell. http://www.gibberlin...ns.html#arcane5

No, it's actually an intended feature of the BG2 engine; any self targetted spell ignores magic resistance - remember in BG1 how magic resistant creatures would sometimes have their buffs like Mirror Image fail?

The readme is in error, they changed it to be blocked by magic resistance, but their version had another bug the last time I checked, it was impossible to cast sunfire if you were running protection from energy/elements.

As a point of interest, Sunfire's description, from al-Qadim: Arabian Adventures, suggests that the fire is actually chanelled from the sun and presumably should ignore MR anyway.

The easiest way to "fix" this spell, is to change Sunfire's target so that it can be cast at a point or target other than caster (like Fireball) - the enemy AI already did this.

Thanks!  I appreciate all this info.  Since there is a seeming rationale for it to bypass magic resistance then I might give it a try while waiting for the SR version to become compatible with those protection spells.  I am *so* fed up with Cone of Cold.
