Hello, I just beat Mass Effect 1 and went though all of the credits, and it brought me to the main page. When I clicked continue it brought me back to a save that was done several hours earlier (when I'm grounded on the Cidadel). Is this some type of glitch or what? Please help! Thanks!

Nope, no glitch. Once you beat the game that play is over, and it creates an end save but you can't continue to play that game, ie that one game is over. You can continue to play a NG+(new game plus or new game with previous character), by starting a new game and choosing an existing character option. It will then continue your character but starting the game over allowing you to replay the entire game with a higher level character and better gear.
