Why do UK buyers have to pay £20 more than the US to get our collector's edition?

I think I truly have disdain for is digital copies costing more than retail product in box. Which happens a LOT with EA. for example where in retail it's say 35 they charge you 45 for digital download of it instead. This ticks me off given they aren't paying for the material, box plastic or card and discs and paper for manuals plus no delivery postage etc so should be cheaper.

This is very true, I believe this happened with the PSN version of ME2. The problem there is that whilst you have competition and supermarkets and the such undercutting each other's prices, the digital editions always seem to sell at the RRP - check Game (for instance) they'll always sell at about 39.99 or thereabouts, but they always make out tlike they're giving you a tenner off it, beacuse the RRP is 49.99.

I believe there has to be a separate price for Digital editions - after all, a significant part of the cost and time of downloading is burdened on the buyer, rather than them paying ofr the shipping and production packaging costs in the price of the boxed game.

Whatever anyone might say, digital distribution is still in it's stroppy child infancy... 'NO! You WILL pay full price or I will throw my toys out of the pram'

There are rumours that Sovereign tried to be Shepard's favourite Store on the Citadel.....

I know this is going slightly off topic, but going on from digital distribution comments, I think they are charging the same prices so as not to undercut retailers, otherwise they (the retailers) could refuse to stock games from certain publishers. At the moment, not enough people use DD to justify taking that risk, but more people won't use it especially if it isn't competative and it really isn't at the moment.

Yes quite possibly, I wonder if this is why they're trying to make distinctive digital editions, so that they're not 'technically' selling the same items as retailers..... I wouldn;t be surprised if Digital Standard Editions start cropping up soon.

Buy the regular edition at amazon for £28. If you want sensible prices for collectors editions, people need to not pay the rip off prices.

Could the difference be Partly the VAT?

What's the sales tax in the US?

V.A.T is 20% under James Camerons coalition government, of course stuff is more expensive here now.

America has -sales- tax which is usually state wide, but it's usually 8-13 %... swedes have it worst at 25%

Even so, comparative exchange rates, show, in this instance, that UK prices are compartitively far higher than a 20% VAT addition, even with extra cost of shipping.

My issue is not a case of price, but an issue of exclusivity keeping that price artificially high without any competition.

Well I'd agree, since technically you don't have to physically -ship- digital copies either.... but I'm sure the exhange rate and v.a.t are a factor as well as the tax they have to pay on that sale on the american end.... they get taxed both sides of the alantic for the sales.

I'll ask though, as I'm not entirely sure.

1. Are physical computer games region locked?
2. If not does it work out any cheaper just to buy an american copy and ship it to the uk?
3. If it's not region locked and works out cheaper just to preorder a u.s copy and ship it to uk, why not do that?

I myself dislike digital copies, especially when it comes to collectors editions with -digital art books- and such in place of the -hard copies-

Exchange rate doesn't mean a thing if retailers are unwilling to adjust their prices to suit. Yes, EA is a partial source of blame here for suggesting such a high retail price to begin with but they have little to no influence over the local retailers. I just spent $100 AUD to pre-order a CE locally when our dollar is equal to $1.08 USD. Unfortunately, there's not a thing we as consumers can do about this beyond refusing to buy the product (vote with your wallet) and EA can do as they please.

As for the digital version, well that's the beauty of EA moving to Origin.. they have knocked out the competition so we have to pay whatever price they want (beautiful for them, that is). Again, nothing we can do to change that beyond not buying the product.

Since it's a long time until release, I'll just wait and see if the price is adjusted.
If it doesn't change something is indeed very wrong.

Exchange rate: 1$ = 6,37 SEK
Price of games: 1$ = 10 SEK

This is ok because of the 25% etc. Usually standard editions of games can be bought for around 500 SEK on release.
The price of ME3 CE should then be 800 SEK, but instead it's 1000 SEK.

Price of ME3 CE: 1$ = 12.5 SEK

Well price is calculated based on economy condition of the country. So here in Poland where people earn less money - we pay less for that stuff.

In UK where you earn earn more money (i was doing programming stuff for one UK company and in 3 months I earn money that I would earn while working 1 year here) so you can pay more and you pay more.
USA is poor country so they pay less than you but more than I.

USA is a poor country? Yeah, the dollar isn't worth what it used to be, but a millions dollars in pennies is still worth more than a 1000 dollars in gold coins. Anyway, people are still making money. The government's debt does not inherently equate to each citizen's personal wealth. I'm well off. The government's debt has had no effect on me.

The US price is based on the US prciing system. The UK price is based on the US pricing system. Maybe take off ten bucks and change the dollar sign to the euro sign and there you have the UK pricing model.

Does Great Britain still use the pound?

Yes we still use the pound, the euro can **** off B)

Anyone got any suggestions, because the price difference is just ridiculous as these are the prices that I have found so far:

UK
Game: £69.99

US

Amazon: $79.96 = £49.13

If anyone can find cheaper alternatives for UK buyers, i would appreciate it.

Taxes.

There is a tax that taxes your import tax. You should know these things, living in the UK
