I don't think for one bleeding second that Sheploo should be replaced by Shepette, all I think -- and all the majority of FShep fans think -- is that she should be presented astride him. In alternate trailers, in alternate posters, alternate standees... Like when a magazine prints special editions that have more than one cover.
I'm a big sheploo fan and I agree with this advertise both! I mean it comes down to Why not?

Yes it is sexist. From the objective POV it just is because you promote a game with only one gender available. Honesly, to me it sounds like you want a revenge. That's just as if I was campaigning to remove straight male romances from ME3 after there weren't any gay male romances in ME1 & ME2. No. I want the most fair solution ASAP for everyone. Past mistakes are past mistakes.Kyrene wrote...
As an apology for two massively popular games without her being even once a poster face? That's not really sexist is it? One marketing campaign with Jane 1.0 as the poster girl... it would have been (channeling King Cailan) GLORIOUS!

I don't necessarily think you're a feminist extremist -- My mother was, I know aaaaaaall about that fun little parade.
What I do disagree with is that you want to replace Sheploo with Shepette as some kind of apology or payback. That's sexist and it's silly. Misandry is every bit as horrid as misogyny.

Reminded me of Steve Hughes stand up routine where talked about such an issue... I thought was quite humorous,
What happens if you say that and someone gets offended? “Well they can be offended. What’s wrong of being offended?”
When did “sticks and stones may brake my bones” stopped being relevant? Is not what you teach children for god-sake? It’s what you teach toddlers!
-He called me an idiot!
-Don’t worry about it, he is a dick
Now you have adults going out “I was offended, and I have rights!”. And so what? Be offended, nothing happens. You are an adult, grow up, deal with it! Nothing happens when you are offended, like: “I went to the comedy show the other day and the comedian said something about the Lord, and I was offended, and I wake up in the morning, I had leprosy”. “I’ve being living in democracy but I never want to be offended again”.
Well, you are an idiot. How do you make a law about offending people? How do you make an offensive, to offend people? Being offended is subjective, has everything to do with you has an individual or collective or group or society or community, your moral conditioning, your religious beliefs, what offends me might not offend you, and you want to make laws about this?
I’m offended when I see boy-bands for god-sake. It’s a valid offensive, I’m offended! Their corporate shield posing as musicians to further a modeling career and frankly, I’m discussed. But what I’m going to do? Call the cops? “Hello, it’s me again. They are on the telly this time. Five of them, that’s it. Yeah, white suits, dancing like girls, that’s them. Five minutes? I’ll be out in the front door traumatized… byee”
~Steve Hughes (stand up comedian)

I really disagree with that. I don't think Sheploo should be phased out at all. The male option is every bit as valid. Both ought to be shown.
I think replacing Sheploo with Shepette would be just as sexist as refusing to include her at all.
Oh, calm down. You have this really strange faux-feminism thing going on, it's quite disturbing.
Sheploo has been the cover for two games now and appeared in far too much art - for all intents and purposes, he's the 'mascot' for ME. They're not going to change that right at the end, and it would be silly to expect them to. Equality doesn't mean switching favoritism of one gender to another one; it's not a balancing act.

I agree, Personally I would not mind if the femshep or shepette was the -main- campaign and sheploo was an alterantive.
I just really hate extreme femisim...or any ism for that matter.
However the question of target audience comes up again.... who is the primary gaming market?
I'll highlight the term -primary- I am aware there is a strong community of female gamers but are they the majority?
I don't want the marketing campaign caught up in sexual politics if it's only going to attract a small following and endanger the sales.
The marketing should attract the majority, what ever that is.....what ever gender, orientation, race, creed...
the alternative campaign should target the smaller market..... what ever gender, orientation, race, creed.
I'm not saying which shep is which.... I'm not a market researcher.
If it makes more market sense to use femshep as the icon then so be it.
If it makes more market sense to use sheploo as the the icon to sell it, so be it.

You get the feeling this is actually pandering to the sort of T&A gawkers who typically only play Sheploo anyways.
It's rather strange then that neither T nor A is much in evidence in the images people can vote on.
Hehe, nice tweezer-pick.
One might point to a new, distinct overall slender frame and T:s and A that while they may not be dominating picture real estate, do "go well" with the whole ensemble: slim sporty, "firm and perky", one might say.

However, I surely hope they don't incorporate the hip dysplasia run they used for F!Hawke. That was terribly goofy looking. And unnecessary.

LOL! Well that's good then. I suppose I am too used to people sometimes taking what I say and attributing it to themselves wrongly.
In any case -- Nawyeralrigh' as they say here in Manchester.

However assuming that its on the whole negative is a bit presumptive. People have grown attached to their protagonist and many care deeply about femshep. As a result the way she looks is a big deal to some people. I think this is a good thing in many ways as it shows the love she has. The polls are popular as well as the threads on BSN right now.
Im sure Bioware knows the support for her is massive and this is an issue close to many peoples heart. If they didnt then they wouldnt be making it such an event. Its really good to see her get some much needed attention at last and Im very gratefull. Something I know Bioware are well aware of

There's quite alot of girls role-playing male characters so most people learned not to assume a gender of a poster based on the character he/she rollsKyrene wrote...

I for one don't intend to play ME3 without an import... I haven dozens of Sheps from Me1&2 ready for import (all pretty much using the same face) to reflect various paths / decisions.... and I intend to stick to that.... not going to start a 'clean' game in ME3 just to use a new preset face.
So, meh... it's nice as boxart but that's about the extent I remotely care.
Besides even if I could choose the new preset for my old Sheps, I wouldn't... I (and I think like many others) have come to see / accept Shepard looking a very specific way (usually our custom Shep or just the original default sheps)... deviating from that look just doesn't make it seem like Shepard anymore.. at least to me.

Oh, Mass Effect armour design was always favourably "accentuating", no doubt, for both genders, but is certainly more flattering, or shall we say: "youthful", this time around. If you don't see it, I can only applaud your non-superficial eye.
Anyway, I don't know why I pollute the forums with my lousy opinions - I'll try to shut up now.

It's probably also relevant to point out that only people starting ME3 on a clean slate (not importing) will likely be able to even choose the new femshep face anyway.. since Bioware has mentioned we'll likely only be able to change a few things on our imported character (hair, etc).. and not choose an entirely new face.

I agree with this. I just would like higher-res hair.

Its still bad they are holding the poll on Facebook where any retard can vote ME fan or no. This is why I feel the Blonde is winning.
Or maybe, just maybe. People happen to like the blonde the most? I know, it truly is astonishing fans of the series might happen to fancy that variation of Shepard.
Give your head a shake for asinine remarks such as this and accept the fact that just because their opinion differs from yours, they are not "any retard." I myself prefer long hair for women, and happen to like blondes, although red is always a favorite. Guess which got my vote?
For the topic itself, a +1 if there ever was one.
