Is there any better weapon (Staff) for Mages than the Staff of Parthalan?  I am kinda partial to the Staff of Parthalan because it came with the DLC that was included with the CE.  But if anyone knows of a better, more powerful staff I'd be interested in knowing about it.

Thanks!

In Act 1, Staff of the Primal Order is best.

There are better staffs than the default Parthalan, but I love it. If you're on PC, check out DANexus for a modded evolving Parthalan, there are a few out there :)

I wish the staff would improve with level ups or we could still upgrade equipment with the storage chest like in Origins. I think the staff of Partlath' looks awesome, plus its better than having that same stupid black staff that looks like a giant Gentlemens cane 5000 times over.

i wish the staff would be so much better... the champion of kirkwall is wearing the best mage armor in the game fighting the arishok while using a staff that gets 22 damage... really??? (thats the trailer just so we know lol)

its my favorite staff in terms of looks by far and i wish the blade end would be used more during combat like the trailer but u know mage and all... wish it would level up with you at least

An "improves with level-up" Parthalan patch for consoles would be nice. By the middle of the game it's damn near worthless unless you're a pyromancer with the primeval rune.

I like the staff because if it is the staff Hawke uses in the trailer then it looks somewhat like a sword which makes my head canon feel better since it is the only staff that doesn't look like a staff, and I refuse to believe the Templars are that dumb.

I dont even use the SoP anymore now that I have Malcolm's Honor. It's far superior to the SoP. Now, if there was, as someone else said, a patch that made the SoP level up with you, then I'd consider using it again. Hell, probably not even then because by the end of Act 1, MH gives +3 to all attributes. That alone pretty much makes anything other than MH worthless for me. Buuuuuuut, that's just me.

@Fleshdrss - SoP is the only staff that doesnt look like a staff?  How about Apostate's courage? It's got a blade.  What about the staff you get from the Qunari for the collection Qunari swords quest in Act 3?  That one's got a blade.  Oh yea, and then there's the Torch of Falon'Din.  It's got a blade.  That's just to name a few.  If memory serves, I've personally come across at least a handful of others that were similar in style.  So yea, there's plenty of staves that dont "look like staves" lol

couldn't be further from the truth.  A standard mage adept set of +% fire damage and mana or +.25 blood mage is better.

This :) Getting to use the single best looking (undisputed ofcourse!) weapon in the game, for the whole game, hard to beat that.
