First of all I am not sure if this belongs here or in the classes forum but because origin stories are part of this thread I will post it here. If a mod feels differently they could always move it. Oh and if this kind of thread has been posted before I apologize.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone else let's their class and subclass determine what their origin story is as well (or vica versa). With mages the origin story and class is set but for warriors and rogues it is wide open. With that said it seems like some origins seem to suggest what class goes along with them. And when I make a specific warden their class and subclass I choose is affected by their origin. For instance when I make a dw rogue it is a city elf, sword and shield warrior is a human noble, axe (or mace) and shield warror is a dwarf noble, 2 handed axe or maul warrior is a dwarf commoner. I havn't played as an archer but if I ever do it will most likely be a dalish rogue archer. Now I notice some origins seem to suggest a class to go along with them though the player is free to completely ignore that. For instance the dwarf commoner is suggested to be a dw rogue or warrior but as soon as I can I equip my dcs with a big axe and don't look back and I justify it by saying he was muscle hired by the carta to intimidate people and he learned how to fight by being a brawler in dust town.
Does anyone else have their origin effect their class, do you go by what is suggested or do you just do your own thing? If you do your own thing instead do you come up with your own roleplaying reasons like I do with my DC?
Do you ever use specific origins for specific classes or playstyles?

Since I mostly play mages, no. Though when I chose my dwarves, my noble was a warrior and casteless was a rogue, as that seemed the best way to experience the storyline. Havent gotten far with elf origins.

Yeah warrior makes sense for noble as does rogue for castless but you could justify a rogue noble or a warrior casteless, all kinds of possibilities for creative types.

Same with me for dwarves, though I have more mage playthroughs than anything else. I have played Cousland warriors and rogues. My city elves were both rogues, my first Dalish was an archer rogue and my second, a DW rogue.
It's unfortunate some origins give you a point in a skill you don't need (for instance, Cousland gets a point in sword and shield even if you want to make him/her a 2-handed warrior) but that's what the respec mod is for.

If I was going to make a templar character, I'd probably go with human noble. The same if I was going rogue, as I like the Legionnare Scout spec, then I'd probably go dwarf commoner or dwarf noble. The Dalish seem to like their bows, so they'd probably be my choice if I wanted an archer. Since the arcane warriors of the past were elves, I also like that I went elf with my mage.
Of course, these are all just preferences for rp reasons. Starting stats can be made up easily.

Story Wise
Human Nobles make good Warrior Champion and Templars.
Dwarf Nobles make good Warriors, Berserkers and Reavers.
Dwarf Commoners make good Rogues.
City Elves make good Rogues, the Female City Elf makes a good Two-Hand Warrior Reaver or Berserker/Reaver Duel-Wield Dagger Warrior.
(City Elves are also the only Origin that can unlock FANG, the second best dagger in game)
Dalish Elves make good Archers (Rogue or Warrior), and Rangers.
Elf Mages make the best Anti-Chantry Mages.

Oh, I certainly agree. My secondary canon was a human noble rogue, and in the future, I might consider a switch and play a dwarven noble rogue and then a casteless warrior, for the sake of variety and creative RP possibilities.
I was just stating what seemed to be the more "natural" class fit for the various origins. The wonderful thing about DA, however, is the multitude of various RP opportunities that each origin gives, regardless of race or class. Tis awesome.

I do have preferences based on the origin. My dwarven commoner is a rouge that is strickly DW assassin no bows. My dwarven noble is a warrior, ive done DW and SnS with them. The dalish is always a rouge ranger using nothing but a bow. The city elf i have done a DW warrior and a duelist rouge. The mage i generaly do a elf but have done human too. Human i do not have particular one, i have done rouges and warriors of every kind there but i think the warrior SnS is the best suited for the noble family.
