Besides my obvious dislike of having my Alistair have sex with Morrigan, I think the cut scene was totally wrong for him.

1) He hates her.  He's not going to be lying there like they have him.  I envision him on the bed with his legs pulled towards him.

2)  As she approaches him, his face should cringe and maybe even have him close him eyes.

3) The music should not be the same music that I get when I make love to him.  She is not "loving" him.  It's way too tender for what is actually going on.

I understand the scene is the same no matter what character beds her, but I think should have taken the time to make a different one for Alistair.  Even if you are a male and send him to her, he would still not like it.  And I know she says to him, you will not hate this as much as you think.  He's not going to be so relaxed for something he really doesn't want.

He should be in the fetal position before and after, and there should be some screaming and sounds of a scuffle. You can find Alitair tied to the headboard in the morning, scratched and bloodied.

I... highly doubt that.



I can understand a lot of women want Alistair to be absolutely faithful to them or whatever, but this is a MAN we're talking about, plus YOU persuaded him to sleep with her, asking him not to enjoy it no matter what is taking it a little too far, don't you think?



Plus, he looks frightened enough. And animation is expensive and time consuming, therefore there is only one scene as it saves cost and time.

They should have played Marylin Manson.



Also, he should been bound and gagged while Morrigan strides in wearing full S&M dominatrix gear. That would have been more appropriate.

Only if the PC tells him to. You can refuse Morrigan's offer.  I believe Loghain can do it too if he is alive.

You do not know my Alistair at all!  He may be a man, but he HATES her.  He even says can I get drunk or knock me out first.  Just because you find her hot, does not mean all men do.  And I know it costs more money, but it's the same scene even if its a male character that loves her.

Considering I played the same game and played a female, I think I do know Alistair's character well enough, but that's irrelevant. He might love your pc very much, but you have to recall that YOUR pc convinced HIM to sleep with her.

I think it's a little absurd to ask a particularly specific animation just for one character, don't you think, irregardless of how jealous you are of a polygonal fictional female character.

It's not just one character.  IF you decide to have the ritual, there are basically 3 choices.  Alistair, your male PC and Loghain.  A male PC would enjoy it and probably Loghan would too, Alistair would not.  They made different love scenes for Alistair and Zevran, so why not here.  I do not think I am being absurd. I know I can choose not to have the ritual... that is not the point I am trying to make.  I am saying the scene looks wrong to me.  If it doesn't to you, great but no need to put me and others that agree with me down.  I bet if you ask a lot of women, do they think the music was right for the scene, they would agree with me that it did not.

Well I'm only putting down the suggestion of changing his animation.

I work in animation, so trust me, having people say you should change so-and-so animation willy nilly is really, really, off putting for me. You have no idea how much time or how much money can be involved especially if they're using motion capture. An entire day's session can go as high as 1000 dollars if I remember correctly.

If you wanted to change the song, well, that also costs money, as then they'd need a composer to make that one song for that one character.

It's not really as easy you make it out to be. But it is your wish so whatever floats your boat, but asking a man not to like sex with a hot woman (and seriously it's not that hard to tell she's quite good looking, irregardless of how much he may not like her, and let's not pull you may like her or whatever because if we stop kidding ourselves we KNOW she's pretty, the designers made her that way) is just... you know, silly.

You can always fanfiction it to soothe your aches I guess.

And you're exaggerating how difficult it would be for a game that's alreayd as complicated and different as DAO is...

Alistair thinks Morrigan looks like a barbarian. There's no evidence as to him finding her pretty that I'm aware of, and you can't just lump your personal attraction to her onto all other men.

It sounds to me like you're just more offended that someone might not like having sex with Morrigan. Not saying you are, but your protests seem a little too adamant.

No, I'm pretty sure everyone has their own taste. I found Morrigan to be cute, but I liked leliana more, actually I even liked Wynne ^^



But Morrigan is a fictional character, and that means her features is sculpted specifically by artists who know what men like (since it seems a lot of their artists are men). I don't know for certain how much Alistair likes or dislikes Morrigan physically, as the only people who'll know for certain are Bioware, but then I can easily say the same for anyone here as well except for Bioware folks, so telling me that I don't know Alistair as well as you do is about the same as me telling you that Alistair would find Morrigan hot.



I do insist however that asking them to create a seperate animation just for this one particular gripe is absurd, and I've dealth with a lot of absurd requests on animation in my time to know when something is just plain nit-picking.

It's nitpicking for you, perhaps, but for someone else it could be completely out of character for Alistair and very jarring to one's immersion. Don't forget that we as the player can shape Alistair's personality to an extent.



I know there comes a point when demanding specific animations for things is nit-picking, but that's not always the case.



And you said yourself you don't know Alistair or if he's attracted to Morrigan, so you saying "he's a man; of course he'd enjoy it" is just as much a "stab in the dark" from your perspective as what we say about Alistair not liking it. Although we have more evidence implying him not liking it than you do of him liking it.

I never said "Hey Boiware, go change this... right now!"  I just wished they had taken more time and thought while they were creating it.  And yes, this is a huge game and I am talking about one scene, but isn't that what these forums are for... to talk about things?  You can't tell me that someone hasn't said something on these forums, that the creators didn't go... hmmm maybe that would have been better... most of the time probably not, but it could happen.

No, we have evidence that he dislikes her personality. She's domineering, she's an apostate, and she like to call him dumb.

But we have no evidence of him not liking her physically. He doesn't call her ugly, he doesn't think he'll throw up when he looks at her, and he doesn't call her fat or whatever.

So no, I don't think I am wrong in thinking that he CAN in fact find her hot. Nothing in game tells me that he would otherwise think of her otherwise. He might intensely dislike her from a personality stand point, but as far as I can tell with his character that seems to be it.

So thats why in the animation he still looks like he's running away from it. But asking him to.. I dunno. curl up in a corner like an elephant just raped him or something seems a bit silly to me. He looks pretty scared from what I saw in the animation (I didn't let him do it even, had a look on youtube), and I'm taking the standpoint that even though he is reluctant to do it, it's not exactly like he'll be tormented by the thought forever like a hot spoke through his hind quarters or anything like that.

But I'll agree to disagree here, as my viewpoint obviously differs from yours as is our right and I don't think either of us is going to budge from it.

-edit- Well I guess you can always ask for it, but I think I reserve the right for discussion to point out my views why it's not necessary just as it is yours to say you want it, non? I don't think I have been too aggresive in my stance in this.

I did the Dark Promise with Morrigan and Alistair on my first playthrough and I remember thinking to myself how WELL that scene seemed to fit.



From what I remember he had a pretty terrified look on his face and looked like he was about to crawl up the bed or jump off at any moment.



I think what we have here yet another case of severe fangirl whining over Alistair. Seriously, aren't you people content with complaining about how he wont make you his queen or about how he dumped you at the end of the game?
