Anyone notice it? While when mass effect 2 came out I was a bit upset that we were throwing around hadukens after awhile I didnt mind it as much, only felt it took the viceral impact out of a power like throw. But now with ME3 even our hadukens are smaller... and on an even more asthetic note... are biotics purple now?

biotic will prolly still not work on defenses. i dont think bioware noticed the problems people had.

ME3 truely needs a remake of its difficulty settings and the particular way abilitiies work on protections.

I'm worried about the potency of warp explosions. In the ME3 demo the warp explosion damage was 90 and 350 newtons while the damage from warp was 234. In ME2 the warp explosion damage was the same as the warp in this case should be 234. That's reduced by almost 3 times. Warp explosions were fun, but quite often would not be worth detonating because you turn off the effect. With this reduced amount I am struggling to see any time you would actually want to trigger one unless everything was defenceless. I just don't see why they should be toned down, they were a good well balanced addition to the game.

Overpower will solve some of these problems. It might balance it enough to be fun again. Enemies will still have protections, but we can use that ability to rapid fire our powers plus reduced recharge so we can do it again. Only as long as Overpower lasts, though. Overpower will be crucial for adepts.

As long as I'm allowed to yell 'PEW PEW' when I use them, i'm good.

Oh no... not more nerf. God no, the Adept is a shattered little individual compared to the original. It's so distracting from a lore perspective to why Biotics are getting weaker and weaker.

In the Known Features thread, under the Dev Promises section, it says "Biotics are more potent in Combat."

I'll believe it when I actually see it. Adepts in ME2 were nerfed.

I remember in ME1 casting singularity and turning an entire room into a tornado of death with crates and enemies smashing into each other. And the enemies usually did not survive the experience. In ME2 you were lucky to grab one or two bad guys and then to kill them you have to shoot them or have a squaddie take them out. Adepts in ME3 should return to their ME1 powerhouse roots.

I don't want to return to ME1 style. Most biotic abilities were so overpowered they completely trivialised the game. On insanity.

Actually I think Biotics will be buffed a little this time around. For 2 reasons:

(1) ME2's nerf is an overreaction to its OPness in ME1. BioWare knows it well from all the loud clamouring among the fans.

(2) From what we see in the demo the Soldier receives considerable buffs. Concussive shot, underused considered underpowered in ME2, has been buffed. It is natural for the same thing to happen to powers like Shockwave.

(3) For one thing, in the demo it's clear that all Biotic powers have much increased projectile speed (so much that they look like insta-hits compared to ME2). This will increase the potency of Biotics greatly as it removes a lot of unpredictability and increases effective operating range.

Sound logic. I am still worried about unintended effects though. Like not having a good selection of companions which the adept relied on to be effective or the reduced power of warp explosions. But I do agree with you, the intention will be to power them up a bit.

Biotics in ME1 were incredibly broken and made insanity a joke, I'm glad they were toned down. If you want Shepard to kill enemies with a flick of his wrist then just play on casual.

Bioware hates biotics, they'll nerf them into the ground in ME3.

I'm not so much against balancing biotics, though they were underwhelming in 2 because of the armor and shield resistance (shouldn't be that gimped), but they should make them at least look a little more flashy. The way they looked in the demo was a little to thin and subtle.

I for one, want my singularity tornado of death back (thanks CommanderNuetral!). But, I have a feeling that EA will influence Bioware into nerfing biotics more because in EA's eyes, this is a shooter, and that requires guns.

I don't see how people were not able to play as the Adept in ME2 right (yeah, there is a right way!). I play in Hardcore and take out everyone with biotics alone.

Singularity - Warp - BOOM

Warp Ammo - Defenses - Lift - Throw - SCREAMING

That's how BW intended Biotics to be. Used in combos for deadly results.

Have you paid attention at all? BioWare has added an ability that will let biotics spam their abilities for a time. You will also be able to ramp the Overpower abilty with the new level up system. I wonder what level Overpower is unlocked at?

Well, biotics were reduced in power in ME2, but in ME1, they were ridiculously overpowered. I mean if you were hit by any biotic power, you were incapacitated for way too long. The shocks in ME2 are shorter and don't disturb the pace of the combat. Adepts could be made more powerful, but powerful like ME1? Nooooooo.
