[*]Having to adjust you aim to compensate the arc.  [*]Having to worry about the enviroment hinder your arc cause it now acts like a projectile. [*] Having to worry about enemies jumping into cover at the last moment making your powers useless as it hits cover..

Wut?

1. What are you talking about? Do you throw powers at enemies on your peripheral or something? In ME1 that wouldn't fly anyway... the power aim was stricter. So many times in ME1 I slap a power at an enemy highlighted on my HUD but it just hits the terrain next to them... arcing ensures the power hits the enemy in these cases.
2. So you didn't have to worry about that obstactle/cover between you and your victim in ME1? Which you can now just arc around in ME2?
3. So you were able to hit enemies in cover with instant cast in the first place in ME1? Last I checked that didn't work, since you can't arc over/around cover...

Faster projectiles are all that's needed... you can have quick-hits to reduce likelihood of error and arcability for maximum versatility.

i have something totally random to ask about adepts.....

so i recently watched an ME3 vid and casey hudson was talkign aboutthe adpet class, and he pronounced the adept, Uh-dept. it was weird hearing him say it that way becasue i always pronounced it as Ah-dept, like saying "adapt." i dont know if you know what i mean, but ive been calling that adept wrong for 4 years. wtf, nood.

The word is pronounced "ADD-ept" when used as a noun, for example: The first time I played ME-2, I played as an ADEPT

When pronounced as "uh-dept", it's an adjective, like "he's an uh-dept infiltrator"

You'd think Casey Hudson would know how to pronounce Adept in its noun state.

Uh.... wow I made this thread to discuss the aesthetic appearance of biotics... didnt know it would spiral out into gameplay complaints. I dont really have gameplay complaints I dont mind if my biotics are not as effective (compare a power like throw as making a guy stumble as opposed to tossing him like a rag doll depending on what protection the mob has and what diff the game is on) I just dont want the powers to be useless till you've stripped away 2/3 of what is essentially the mobs life before they are effective.

But yeah this was an aesthetic complaint/discussion... or atleast was meant to be.

I did notice though, that Biotics abilities are looking more like Electricity or some sort of energy  - as opposed to that Blue/Purple sometimes with that cool invisible, "ripple effect" from ME1: check the Push ability and how it has changed - it looks more and more like a generic energy ball that knocks people back than a Telekinetic Push

That's a gameplay decision. In ME1 all powers are insta-cast, there are no projectiles like in ME2. Although projectiles don't mesh well with the biotic lore (being telekinetic powers), it does improve overall gameplay. In ME2 you can arc powers which allows Shep to Pull enemies who are hiding behind cover or a wall and you can Throw enemies wherever you want to (of ledges preferably) - stuff not possible in ME1.

I'd prefer the insta-cast like in ME1.... makes you feel more like a biotic, more badass... like say jack or samara in the cutscenes.

I don't see how they can't allow you to pull/lift enemies from behind cover when you can still tell your allies to use a power and/or shoot them (even if they can't or will be unsuccessful) b/c the enemies still have the red outline around them. So activating an insta-power on them shouldn't be hard.

And to control where you want them to go... use the left/right thumb stick... say you activate the throw power... and you went them to go flying off to the right (maybe their is a ledge or something over there) just flick the thumbstick to the right. Something like the force unleashed (not a that great of a game but the only example I could think of) where if you pick someone up you can then choose which way to throw them.

They didn't read your OP.  They read your thread title which isn't really clear and given the history of these boards a bit missleading.

i dunno about you, but i did fine with biotics in ME2.

i even played a casting heavy vanguard on insanity (as in lots of pull, shockwave and slam, instead of constantly charge spam, though i still used charge alot)

but the point is you can do fine with biotics in ME2. the reason they were "nerfed" is because biotics were grossly overpowered in ME1 if you did it right.
