It seems to be out (our coming out) for everyone relatively soon, so I'm creating a thread for people to discuss the changes to the gameplay aspects in the DLC. Bioware has promised to address quite a few gameplay concerns (raining men, little variance between encounters, etc), so post your thoughts on the changes here. Are the fights improved? Do you feel more challenged? How so? Do I look better with short hair, or long hair? These are all questions you should ask yourself as you go along.

As I promised, I'll be posting videos of the fights, and I encourage others to share and record, as well.

A special thank you to Bulletplay for giving me the MS points to purchase this. If not for him, I likely would've skipped it altogether.

I'm aware that this is the Gameplay forum, but please try to leave out spoilers if at all possible. All who have yet to play, read at your own peril, just to be safe!

Here's the Bethany build I used with my Warrior, meant to go along with my Warrior guide (link in signature). Click her name for the build/level-up guide.

Bethany - Companion for Warrior

Self: Health <25% - Use Potion
Self: Mana or stamina <10% - Use: Lyrium Potion
Hawke: Health <25% - Barrier
Varric: Health <10% - Heal
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Winter's Grasp
Enemy: Slowed - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Crushing Prison
Self: At least one enemy is alive - Haste
Enemy: Target of Hawke - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Hex of Torment
Enemy: Attacking Anders - Spirit Bolt
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Spirit Bolt
Enemy: Target at short range - Glyph of Paralysis
Enemy: Clustered with at least three enemies - Fireball
Enemy: Target between medium and long range - Firestorm
Self: Any - Activate: Elemental Weapons
Self: Any - Activate: Heroic Aura
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Attack

Notes

- This build is meant to be used in conjunction with Anders for Double Haste, and to hold Heroic Aura to free up his mana reserves

- A combo of unupgraded Winter's Grasp/Crushing Prison will root Elite+ enemies, rendering them completely immobilized (shout out to SB)

- Anders should have his Varric healing tactic turned off, splitting the healing load between himself and Bethany (Anders for Hawke, Bethany for Varric)

- Bethany's Barrier will grant Hawke 6 seconds of near-unopposed/safe Sacrificial Frenzy time

Just for clarity's sake, depending which path you take the color puzzle is different - if you give a really basic description of it they sound the same but they are quite different so you may want to explain which way you took when talking about that :)

Just didn't want you guys confusing one another since they sound the same when you're describing them.

And yes, there are 4 pieces to the armor set.

IF any of these issues are tech related problems, such as the pillars not working, please post them in the appropriate tech forum so I have an easier time directly addressing you.

Thanks.

Tamuril, check to see if your DLC is actually authorized and that you're logged in to the correct account in game to match the account you purchased the DLC with.

Fantastico, I'm looking in to your issue right now, please re-post in the tech section and I'll follow up with some more questions.

Does anyone find the Genlock Alphas to be a bit on the annoying side? I'm playing a mage on hard and I have a hard time taking them down.

If you don't have overhead damage text on you may not notice this but they take about 10% damage when hit from the front and like 500% from behind.
