my bad if I did, but do you see where I'm coming from at least?

I've played all classes, and mages cannot compete in the single target damage department, not by a long shot. You're right about that.

3 golem fight looks like a fun speed run, I'm sure Arelex is working on it.

So figured out my problem....

Went through 2 rotations of him getting powers from statues & his health bar went all the way down to nothing, but he refused to die. After continuos hitting for about 10 mins he decided to ask Dumat for his help....again.

Hmmm

I'm having basically the same problem. I'm on the part where C has created a rock maze. I've beaten him down to a sliver of life and can't finish him off. It's really aggravating. Am I supposed to just run around until some imaginary timer runs out and something else happens?

The final boss is stuck at 1 hp for me. My whole team died early on so I just spammed my normal attack on my dual weild rogue and stunlocked him for 3/4ths of his hp bar with my key thing. (lol) He only managed to get a couple of attacks in. Anyways, for some reason he won't die. Did stun locking him make him not do some attack that needed to trigger to win? He did do that go into the center and shoot fire twice, was he he supposed to do that more or something?

The end boss was incredibly easy for me on the first try (playing on hard). Just have your peeps stand against the pillar, hit it, kill the demons, wait for flame to pass, move to next. Rinse, repeat. Then just massacre the magister when he comes down off the pedestal.

Awesome DLC...if only the full game were this good!!! Think of what it could have been!

Maybe our Grey Warden dies slaying Larius or Janeka unless Morrigan comes up with another ritual

I don't know if our Warden necessarily dies, but I think the ending is a good hint at the reason why our Warden disappears.  In my playthrough I sided with Larius, and he mentions he plans on visiting the Warden-Commander next.  He doesn't specify the Commander of Ferelden, but I think that's a fair assumption to make.  I'd speculate that either our Warden was found out about Corypheus, or was potentially captured by him.  Few things are coincidence in the Dragon Age world, and I don't think it was an accident that Larius (or Janeka if you sided with her) would mention the Commander who we know will later go missing.

And I definitely think that Corypheus's essence or soul jumped into the surviving warden you chose to side with.  He's obviously not an old god, but maybe he is able to accomplish this because he was one of the original magister's to breach the golden city?  He shares the ability to call out to nearby darkspawn/people inflicted with the taint.  I can't help but wonder if there are more tainted Tevinter Magister darkspawn out in the world and locked up, because some of the codex entries mention that there were other talking darkspawn around the time of the first blight.  That would just add a whole new level of bad that might exist out in the world what with two archdemon's left, an ongoing Chantry/Mage War and Corypheus roaming free with a new body in Thedas.

Exactly the same situation I'm in.  Me and my 2 surviving teammates are continually whaling on him.  He's stuck at 1 hp and won't go down.  I think it's a glitch.

As for the DLC ... I thought it was amazing. It addressed everyone's concerns with recycled maps and introduced tactical combat again. I probably had more difficulty with the Carta ambushes than any of the battles later in the game (save for the battle with the Revenant and 4? Emissaries ... and the final battle.)

I think I had the same qualm about the companion AI completely shutting down on you during that final battle. I had everyone hold also, so they began to leave their holding position as soon as I ventured towards the next binding pillar. I pretty much fought 80% of the battle solo, but my Blood/Force Mage Hawke managed to wash her hands clean of those pesky pillar guardians. The battle with Corypheus actually reminded me of the finale battle between Voldemort and Harry Potter because it was just Hawke and Corypheus throwing sparks from their wands back and forth. ;x

It definitely made it all the more epic.

Alright, I have a fix. Just restart the battle, and go slower on him. You can kill him after the third time he does his little routine.

Having trouble locating the unique armor chest piece in the DLC. Got the helmet, the gloves and the boots but not the chest piece at all. Anyone know where I can locate it?

Yeah, that isn't working for me.  The effing thing is just broken, plain and simple.

Found the last armor piece. Not a bad DLC. Really good story, just like Lair of the Shadow Broker. Although if you play through the DLC without Varric or Bethany/Carver lots of the cutscenes are shorter than they are with them in. Also party banter is changed somewhat too and a bit shorter as well.

hmm just finished it after taking my time with it (no party member deaths on nightmare).
I have to say that this is what the whole game should have been made like; Constant new areas, relatively challenging and strategic fights, side-quests mixed into the main quest...

An elemental shadow assassin on dual haste (gotta love bethany) still wipes everything off the floor but often times I found some of the carta ambushes etc pretty fun to deal with- it forced me to revert to pause play (so bethany and anders wouldn't be stupid) which was nice for a change.
The seal bosses weren't hard at all besides how they start you off right next to them (allowing them to one-shot your party if you don't move away). Also, as expected it won't be that fun trying to speed run them because it's all a matter of killing the right duplicate :/

The only thing I didn't really like was the final boss- I hate bosses which go into invincible modes while dealing silly amounts of damage. I died more from that fire than anything else- I would just instantly assassinate him for 60000+ dmg, watch him warp off to the middle and recover all his health then fry my stupid party members (anders) who can't path find their way around.

I hated trying to navigate the party through the maze. I almost gave up and solo'd it (which is actually easier) but decided to go through with the painfully slow pause-play move to position strategy (which is a pain on xbox).

Anyway, i'm going to go play it through with a different character. I'm not sure if there are any fights that need to be recorded though so I'll just enjoy myself and worry about speed runs later on :)

I've played it twice now, I definately enjoy it and would recommend it to others. The fights were more enjoyable without the constant wtf fighters dropping out of the sky and directly landing on squishy party members, while fighting in the same exact 2 caves every. single. time. The death from above ninja divers and the waves in the base game of DA2, to me at least made every single fight feel the same while in Legacy, each encounter felt more unique.

The atmosphere was great. The hotel california prison really felt lived in by darkspawn and other creepy crawlies that were stuck in there with you. From either a deepstalker ambush or stumbling upon some random deepstalkers batteling giant spiders to the death, hey deepstalkers and giant spiders gotta eat too you know, lol. Seeing the various darkspawn and other enemies with the "viewpoints" was really nice as well. Really helped to sell that was their turf, you're the outsiders, step lightly or be swallowed alive and never heard from again. Even a nice sidequest furthered that point with Varric's ancestor. As opposed to a random loot thing that you somehow magically know who it belonged too, wtf? lol

The family connection was really well down. I actually started to care about the Hawke family unit as before I didn't really. Maybe I'm just mean, but I couldn't stand most of them in the base game, lol. With such little interaction with them before most of them die or leave for most of the game, I couldn't find myself to give a crap about them before, lol. While yes, that sounds bad, lol, Legacy did make me like 'em a bit more so that's a good thing.

How are enemy elemental resists? Still random immunities? Tell me that's not the reason you missed weapon swaps Arelex...

Also what do you people think would be an optimal level to get into the dlc. I mean more lore wise, don't wanna end up with the epic killing machine Hawke fightning some minor baddie or having the green mercenary recruit going against an ancient evil that's supposed to be stronger than anything in the main game...

All enemies level with you but I'd say a higher level is better if you want to actually use that key/weapon outside of the dlc. The higher level you are, the more base damage it does but it doesn't level with you, so once you get the weapon, that's it, it stays at that base damage with the three minor improvements you add on it breaking seals/locks/whatever they are called.

At least, I don't think it levels with you, it didn't say that it does and a few peeps in another thread said it didn't seem to level up damage at all as they leveled up. I used two of my old save files that were prepatch and they were leveled really high so I didn't get a chance to level up myself to see.

Hmmm.. in terms of the storyline I would think that it makes the most sense in act 3 when you're established as the champion and generally awesome at killing things already; But on the other hand, you could always view it like hawke is good at killing things which is why there's the eventual rise to championhood. meh, it's up to you I suppose. I did mine beginning of act 3

And yeah, there's a stackload of immunities- and I didn't have my mage (with lots of staves to swap through) so I couldn't really figure out what their elemental weaknesses were. All I know is that brontos are immune to nature and I think that the new darkspawn have similar resists to the old ones..

I'm starting my mage run through it now. Mage is a lot easier than DW rogue so far. Been able to pull enemies around/drop firestorms on them makes most ambushes/setups pretty easy. I guess it also helps that I already know what's going to happen :/

Anyway, in other news I think i've got my non-bloodmage crit-mage figured out now. It's turning my controller into a constant buzz :)

Did they change Magic Resistance or something? I had Bethany "resisting" what appeared to be fireballs from a Pride Demon, taking no damage with 0% fire resistance. (even if she had 100%, using the new cap she'd still take some damage)

I was under the impression Magic Resistance reduced the damage taken by Magic attacks though, not nullified a certain percent of them like in DAO.

it's just that there are a lot of back-to-back fights with opposing elements, and manually swapping your party after every single one is tedious. i got so tired of it that i just kept the key (phys sword) on most of the time.

the dlc as a whole is harder than any part of the main game, so it's really up to you if you want to play it from a 'how huge of a boss is hawke right now' standpoint.

btw, i'm pretty sure that brontos are weak to fire.

I'm testing my crit-mage (i'm updating my guide) and I'm pretty sure it's not normal to hit 1500-2000 damage from a staff attack otherwise hahaha

I think we should compile a list of all the immunities/weakness of the new creatures and add it to IN1's elemental resistance and weakness thread
